[Read the article: McCain and Palin party down]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hilarious!
It's been a visceral thing with my conservative brothers and their wives. They were going to go McCain until he chose Sarah as his running mate then they all went ballistic and said no way. (Actually, one of my brothers asked my mom if McCain had lost his f***ing mind.) Swift and certain.
One sister-in-law told me that McCain had overlooked more qualified women who had worked hard for the party for years and she found his decision "stupid and unforgivable". The other one told me that "no way in hell am I going to have my daughter looking up to a woman with a pregnant teenager".
Your story is much funnier, but I wanted to let you know that my personal experience tells me you're on to something.

Tip of the Hat, Wag of the Finger at Elephantman
[Read the article: Poll: Half say Palin isn't experienced enough to be president]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I think that was Elephantman on Colbert Report last night. If so, he was pretty funny. I can't fault him for his enthusiasm for Sarah Palin; it's nice to see people wearing their passions so openly. Much better to define yourself by the things you love rather than the things you hate.
I just don't share his positive view of Mrs. Palin. I think Obama/Biden is the superior team and I'm pretty passionate about getting them elected, and I think I'm in good company.
On to the debates!

Oh Yeah, I Almost Forgot
[Read the article: Poll: Half say Palin isn't experienced enough to be president]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If Sarah Palin is such a strong candidate, then why is the McCain camp being so hostile to the press. Legitimate questions are slammed as being sexist and no way, no how are they going to let her talk to the press. McCain won't even talk to legendary softball pitcher Larry King.
My point is this: if they don't think she's ready to be interviewed how in the hell are we to believe that she could assume the responsibilities of the presidency should something happen to McCain?
Like it or not, Obama came out on top of a hard-fought primary campaign and all Mrs. Palin had to do was answer the phone.

John McCain Trusts Phil Gramm to Help Him With Economic Issues
[Read the article: It's the economy, stupid]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'd like to see Phil Gramm tied around McCain's neck like a stinking dead albatross.
Oil speculators adding to the cost of oil - thank Phil Gramm.
Mortgage meltdown due to relaxed regulation - thank Phil Gramm.
McCain doesn't understand economic issues. He confuses cutting government pork with creating an economy. He will be an economic disaster.
He's against net neutrality so it's no small surprise that Meg Whitman is cheering on McCain because Ebay is such a big player and would only stand to benefit from such a policy position.
If it's the economy, stupid - and I believe it is - McCain is not your man.

[Read the article: It's the economy, stupid]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I agree - The Daily Show was absolutely brilliant last night!
I think there will be another Friday show tonight if they follow the same convention schedule as they did last week.

Obama is Controlling the Message
[Read the article: McCain knocks Obama as "celebrity" again]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]McCain is an old guy with old ideas and the only change I saw last night was meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

It's the Economy and the Subject is Phil Gramm Not Sarah Palin
[Read the article: Mean Old Party]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It's three days out and I've forgotten most of her speech. We were all curious and she failed to make any major gaffes delivering her speech. Big deal.
Two things: lets get back on track by focusing on McCain's lack of economic knowledge coupled with the fact that he turns to Phil Gramm as an adviser in these issues. Can you point to one other single person who has created more economic damage to the middle class than Phil Gramm? Most people don't know who he is. We can educate them.
We don't need to make up anything about either candidate or cross our fingers and hope that the rumors of an affair are true. We aren't going to convince the religious right, but we can talk sense to women and independents.
The convention proved that the Republicans are a party of self-loathing and who in the hell are we to argue?

The Government Will Be Bailing Out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - Thank You Phil Gramm
[Read the article: Mean Old Party]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy. It's the economy.

@ AKA Smith
[Read the article: Mean Old Party]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Please don't take my word for it, Google Phil Gramm and Exxon Loophole, and Phil Gramm lobbying the government on behalf of Swiss bank UBS for relaxed regulation of financial institutions which laid the groundwork for the mortgage meltdown.
Phil Gramm factors into both the mortgage crisis and speculators adding to the already high cost of oil. When the cost of oil goes up, the cost of everything goes up. I hope people can understand that. A lot of them got into mortgages they didn't understand. Phil Gramm was a large part of that.
We are the government. When the government says they will be bailing out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, that means we will be paying for it.
John McCain doesn't understand economic issues - he turns to Phil Gramm for that information. When Phil Gramm ran for president, McCain backed him in the primary. John McCain is a simpleton when it comes to the economy. He thinks cutting government pork is creating economic growth.
We are beyond that. Our economic issues are much more complex than he is equipped to deal with.
Please check it out for yourself. It shouldn't take long.

[Read the article: Mean Old Party]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Sorry, I didn't answer part of your question.
Yes, Phil Gramm has long ties with Bush. He's from Texas and his wife was on the board of Enron.
My original post was misleading. I should have stated that the government is seizing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. This isn't just any bail-out - it's being referred to as historic - and will reportedly cost taxpayers $25 billion.
