@Yminale

One more thing. We haven't subsidized French, Swedish or Swiss militaries since 1966 for the French and never for the Swedes or the Swiss. All three build their own aircraft, their own ships, their own tanks, and, in the case of the French, their own nukes.

Uh, no, U.S. productivity is not higher than in Europe. France and Belgium both have greater productivty per hour worked than the U.S. The other Western European countries are about the same. The Europeans, however, do not wish to work 60 hours per week so they don't.

I live in France 5 months a year, and your post is mostly nonsense. First, French unemployment is not higher than ours. They count everyone not working whereas we count maybe half. They spend half per capita as the U.S. for health care, and their health outcomes are far better. They also consume less than 40% of the drugs we Americans take. I like it here in Portland, but I really like SW France as well. The people are just plain happier.

@Confucius Always Say

I don't know where you live or what your experiences are, but there are lots of places where the stuff you claim simply isn't true. My friends are my friends, I throw none of them under the bus for any reason. Why would you think I would do so?

I live in a world where race, religion, sexuality, etc. are minor attributes compared to intelligence, compassion, well informed opinion, tolerance, etc. I am sorry that you don't.

Not only have I been to France, I live there 5 months a year. I am an American, and I am Jewish. I have had none of the problems you describe.

To your list, I would add Barbara Lee, Pete Stark, Bernie Sanders and some others.

Morocco did not expel any Jews. In fact, as Jews started leaving in the early 50s for the great social experiment that was Israel, the King of Morocco asked them to stay. Jews were also not expelled from Algeria, Tunisia or Libya among Arab countries, and no Jews were expelled from Iran

Your overall statement about the Mizrahim is correct, but you painted it quite a bit more broadly than was actually the case.

@jonathaninTelAviv

So, our favorite resident Kahane Chai rep is online. Are you one of the guys who posts 'gas these Arabs' graffiti in Palestinian Hebron? Are you one of the Baruch Goldstein worshipers? Are you friendly with the whack jobs in Hebron or Amona or Kiryat Arba? Sounds like it. Your grasp of history is tenuous at best.

Btw, I'm a 'fucking Jew bastard' as some have called us on this thread.

Do you somehow think that I am denying that hundreds of thousands of Jews were expelled from Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Pakistan and on and on? I am not. You said that Simone Bitton was one of the million Mizrahi expelled from their countries. She was not. That is a flat out lie. Morocco expelled no Jews. Her family didn't emigrate until 1967. That's 19 years after the creation of Israel.

I've read Memmi, BTW.

Yes, there were about 250,000 Jews in Morocco in 1948 and aboutn 249000 in 1949 and about 248,000 in 1950. The big migration began in 1953. From then until 1960, more than 140,000 Jews emigrated to Israel. This was not because they were abused in Morocco - they were excited about the idea of a Jewsih state. Just because the existing King of Morocco was a good guy, the next King might their lives hell. This is the period during the King asked them to stay mulitple times. The remaining 100,000 have slowly emigrated over time so that there are now 7,000.

I was in Morocco in 1966, 1975, 1987, 1993 and 2005. It has over time become considerably less friendly to anyone who is not Muslim. The current king is not good. But, in 1948, no Jews were expelled.

Why are you trying to revise history? Reality is what it is. Yes, we Jews have been persecuted all over the place for thousands of years, but not everywhere. Why is that so hard to accept? 40% of world Jewry lives here in the U.S. and we live really well here. France, which has the third largest Jewish community in the world, is constantly accused of anti-semitism, but I live there 5 months a year, and I have experienced no problems whatever. I was welcomed to my little town.

Your whole approach reminds me of the controversy over the Muslim SS divsion organized by the Grand Mufti of Palestine. Yes, there was such a division and it was organized by the Grand Mufti, but it had 100% Bosnian Muslims, no MEs. It didn't work out very well. The Bosnian Muslims had no interest whatever in killing Yugoslavian Jews who were their friends and neighbors, and they fiercely resisted killing Jew on many ocasions. What they really wanted to do was fight the Bristish in Palestine, a cause which would have allied them with the Jews in Palestine. What appears on the surface isn't necessarily the truth.

Shalom

In my first post to you, I was trying to obtain some expression of humanity to balance your hatred and bigotry. I am now convinced that you are Kahane Chai or JDL, and you probably are one of bozos who paints 'gas these Arabs' graffiti in the Palestinian part of Hebron.

OK. We will agree to disagree. I am a seeker of facts not agreement. There is an old Jewish tradition where men (women weren't really part of it) sit down, have a beer, argue, scream, yell, pound the table, etc. Then they go outside, hug and agree to do it again next week. I can live with that as a model.

Ztarain's Creole Mustard is just about as good as it gets. But, I do like Pommery mustard better than Dijon or Inglehoffer.
