The article didn't offend me, it was mildly amusing, but the letters are out there. LWs who say they are gay seem to find it OK, most of them, but others object to the stereotypes. LGBT people do have a sense of humor. Apparently, we straights have some issues.
I am straight, my brother is gay. But, when I vist him in Minneapolis and hang out with his friends, he introduces me as his gay brother. Why? My brother and friends are slobs. I am a hard core fashionista with the razor cut hair, manicure, Italian suits, etc. We all laugh and move on. What's the mystery here.
My wife of 30 years died in December, 2007 from ovarian cancer. She was stage 4+ at diagnosis. A year or two earlier and she might have lived more than 2 1/2 years.
But it seems germane. On the morning that my wife died in December, I was just sitting with her holding her hand waiting for the end. We had had our last conversation. I gave her enough morphine to kill the pain and then waited. All of a suddent, our 4 Siberian huskies got up on our bed and put their paws on her. Two minutes later, she died. They knew, they knew. I have no idea how, but they did.
You need to learn to read the tables before you pontificate. In your post, you said the income share of the top 1% was 21.xx%. Read Table 8 in the taxstats page. Income share of top 1% was 38.42%. Nothing like a good fabrication to skew a point, huh? If you then add the impact of grossly regressive stuff like Social Security, Medicare and sales taxes, the top 1% do not pay even their share of taxes proportional to income. Your analysis is fabricated BS.
Stalin lives.
What is the hangup with skinny cut jeans or does Ms. Price mean something that I haven't really seen? I wear skinny cut jeans, because they are the only ones that fit - I hate baggy jeans. That said, nothing I own is as tight as the jeans worn by any 16 year old girl. What gives?
Just as background, I am straight and 60 years old although I look far younger. I wear straight leg jeans - don't like the flare from boot cuts. I am a slim guy especially on the bottom half, and even classic cut jeans are way too baggy. Yes, 31/30 classic fit 501s are too baggy. So, I have jeans that are actually called skinny fit and I have some Prada and Subi jeans designed for skinny guys like leonardo De Caprio. I also have some other jeans that were somewhat baggy, but I had them tailored to fit. And, yes, all my jeans were over $200.
I can't buy suits off the rack either. I wear a size 42R jacket which comes with size 37 or 38 pants, and I have a 31" waist.
I may be an older guy, but I try to look my best for all occasions. Clothes that fit are part of the deal.
Yup. Well said. Reminds of a little ditty I heard in anti Operation Rescue activities.

You might want to learn some science and learn to write coherently.
Creationism is not a theory - it is a simple hypothesis with no supporting evidence of any kind. Evolution is a hypothesis where all of the available evidence supports - that's how it became a theory. Creationism is pure religion. Also, why not the Hindu or Viking creation myths - just as scientifically valid as the Christian one - no scientific value.
Next evolution is not a religion. Humanism does not equal evolution. How you conflate these things is totally irrational.
There was a real opportunity to make money this week. There is no ban on individuals selling short. So, short Goldman, Morgan Stanley, AIG and Wachovia last Friday. Take 8$ per share profit on Wednesday and go long in Goldman, Morgan Stanley and Bank of America. Take 6$ per share profit Friday morning.
I work for a giant bank. We are also highly diverse, get awards for being a good place to work for minorities, and we are one of the most profitable financial institutions in the world. So, are minorities responsible for that profit. Yes, in part. We look like our business. In California alone, we try to deal with more than 100 languages. So, we hire people from every kind of background possible.
But, we did not write subprime mortgages. We did invest in some CDOs that carried too many tranches of subprime junk, but our reserves covered all our losses.
The NR piece if simple racism, nothing more or less.
the old thing about 'what is the sound of one hand clapping?'.
Well, it's a monk masturbating in the forest. Pretty much sums up Kristol's article.
If one uses mustard (more than just a little for flavor), the end result is a vinaigrette that is also an emulsion.
