Pre-dispossed

I don't know that Bush actually lied. I think he was pre-dispossed to didlike Sadam Husain (sp?) and if you have ever been pre-dispossed to think something you know that if you get conflicting reports you will give credance to the ones that support your point of view. He beleived evidence that backed up his world view. Thats different from lying.

I think this issue of the pardon is ammazing, this white house has broken the law twisted the constitution, but the last straw may in fact be something they actually have the authority to do.

By the way Keith, love your show.

This should be obvious...but

All governments have a responsablity to their own people. Some people here think that we should put US interests second behind the interests of other countries or human rights. France puts France first, Iran puts Iran first, that is the way it is supossed to work.

It's strange....

but Biden and Richardson both answer questions at the debates differently than every other candidate. Everyone else says "if in this situation I would do X", but Biden and Richardson answer "When I faced that situation, I did Y and it worked out this way". How are these two not destroying everybody else?

I am a libertatian

and there is nothing about George Bushue poilcies that I agree with, I did not voe for him either time. Whoever thinks that Bush has a lot of libertarian supporters needs to open their eyes. Libertarians are for small government, Bush is not. Libertarians are for personal choice and personal responsability, Bush is not.

Fine but,

Jesus Christ!

A libertarian is just a person diametrically opposed to authoritarianism. It has absolutely nothing to do with anything else.

what better way is there to avoid authoritarianism other than limmiting the reach of government?

Extremes

Now your putting words in my mouth (or at least on my screen), I didn't say NO government, I said SMALL government.

In answer to your question however, no I do not expect corporations to respect my rights, but if they get out of hand a small government can keep them in line. If government gets out of line and beging to ignore the will of the electorate, whose gonna stop it?

LWM

You seen to be talking about political theory, and that is fine, but libertarian theory when put into practice has to be small government. We have a president that has appointed justices that have esentually given him the green light to ignore parts of the constitution, a congress that dosen't have the guts to stand up to him, a press that is affraid to ask tough questions and power was stripped form the states long ago. Who is protecting my right? No one. That is why American citens can be seized and sent to gitmo without trial (the courts have said the administration cant do that but the gitmo detanies are still being held). That is why our conversations may or may not be getting lisened in on but we'll never know.

Power corrupts, the more powerful our government becomes the more corrupt they will become.

Friday, July 6, 2007 12:46 PM

fair enough

"JB... There is no such thing as "libertarian theory""

Maybe that's not what you call it, but my argument is about implementation, yours seems to be more about 'what is libertarianism?'. That is what I was trying to say.

Just a quick question

What happens if the Senate simply dosen't ever bring any spending bill related to the war to a vote.

Shehan

I have never been teribly impressed with Mrs. Shehan, but she has this one right. The defence of liberty and the rule of law n this country are first and foremost, the war in iraq and political concerns come second. If she runs, I might have to donate to her campain.

Harrington

You might try to remember that except on a few blogs there has been no real campaign to impeach anybody. No one has made a real attemp to "sell" impeachment to the american poeple but already nearly 50% support it.

Activitism

I was at my dentists office shortly after the immigration bill. She and the dental assistant were talking abd the dentist knew someon that works for Sen. Bonds office. I knoe he had originally supported the immigration bill but evidentally his office got about a thousand call for the bill, only 5 were in favor of it, so he had to vote the other way. He was even one of the 3 senators Bush met with personally to try to get him to change his mind again and vote for the bill. Reguardless of how you feel about the immigration bill, this demonstrated that these people will listen to us.

Off the subject, Joan a spell check feature for your comment section would be appreaciated.

This is way off topic, I know and am sorry, but...

Someone posted a few weeks ago that Thomas Jefferson had wrote something to the effect of "we are not founded as a christian nation" in a treaty with a native American Nation. I looked and cannot find the treaty, but would really like to.

thanks

Annon Dammit

Thanks, i just want to be able to hit anyone who says we are a christian nation with facts, I dont know if it will do any good. The nice thingabout treaties is that they are ratified by the Senate

Only partially true

In the republican debates, several of the second tier candidates (Hunter, Tancredo and one other) wanted a change in strategy and Paul wants to withdrawl.

By the way this is OT but I have not seen ant stories on it except for a 15 second blurb on CNN. The NAACP had a demorcatic debate a few weeks ago. They tried to have a republican debate late last week, only Tancrado bothered to show. This will come back to haunt them in the general election/

Original article: Why David Vitter matters

your missing something

I Vitter admitted what he had done when confronted. Clinton (like Libby) lied under oath. Neither Clinton nor Vitter should have been unfathfull, but perjury is a big deal.
