Maybe their thinking....

that sooner or later they will be right (20 years or so) and they want to be able to say "I told ya so".

the Kyl-Lieberman resolution

Joan I have question. If the iranian revolutinary guard is now a terroris orginization, and we go to war ith them, do treat them as POWs or enemy combatants when it comes to legal protections and status? I think we are holding a few that we captured in Iraq and don't want to admit that we have them or let them contact anyone.

I think the issue is that because we revealed that we had the tape when we did, it let al queda know that we were accessing their network. We had the tape before it became public, which means we took it from them. The can now figure out how we got it and make sure we can't access their network in the same way.

I emailed....

Both of my Senators and told them not to support any amnesty for these companies yesterday. We'll see what happenes.

What he should do....

is offer current and former staffers from other shows the chance to make public what other hosts are being pressured not to say. Mathews could go on the air and tell every other host to start talking about the subject or risk having their silence on certain issues exposed on hardball.

If Ron Paul were to get the nomination....

he would probably be the anti-war candidate in the general election. He is a lot more anti war than everyone but Kusinitch and Gravel.

Bad Idea

As ugly as it will be, we should take our lumps now and get it over with. The longer we put it off the worse it will get.

I thought the argument against term limits was that members of congress would remember the past and not make the same mistakes again.

I kinda feel sorry for Nixon....

had he had this congress, he would have been able to finish out his second term.

Thursday, October 18, 2007 11:31 AM

All I am saying is....

I reaally seems like it doesn't matter what the white house does, this congress will give its' blessing.

I am starting to have a real hard time beleving this is still about politics.

This is a long term strategy.

They know that Republican are almost bound to loose in 08 so they are withdrawing support. This way in 2012 they can say, "Look what happened when we left the pary. You better do what we say or there will be four more years of a demorcat in office".

It's a good strategy to retain control of the republican party long term.

Thursday, October 18, 2007 01:04 PM

ANON

You are right that they don't controll the GOP, but they do have a lot of infleunce, particulary when it comes to the court. That is their real issue. They don't care about tax policy or spending, just the court and abortion.

I am a libertarian.

But I just emailed the Dodd campaign and promised him my vote in the primary.

Maybe some of us....

will support a war with Iran. But first we need to see Sadams' WMDs and all his strong ties to Al queda.

Thursday, October 18, 2007 04:27 PM

This attempt to

override the veto is bizarre. Everything that has gone on over the last seven years and this is what the democrats choose to fight about. I thought they said they would not de-fund the war because they didn't hae the votes. They didn't have the votes for this either. If their gonna fight they need to do it over a bigger issue than this.

Thursday, October 18, 2007 05:02 PM

Chris Sinnard

That is exactly my point. There are bigger issues to loose on (Nancy Pelosi can count votes so she must have known this was comming), but on the really important stuff they just talk tough and capitulate. Now they are going to use this defeat as a reason not to take action on other matters, "we can't afford anothe defeat".

Lets hope so.

A lot of carreers.

Friday, October 19, 2007 08:02 AM

Maybe...just maybe

They will leave and the Republicans will get stomped on. They day after the election Jamed Dobson will make some calls and say "see I told ya so". But then again maybe some clever person will step up and move the republicans to a party of small government, "get government out of your business and out of your bedroom" and leave the fundies flapping in the wind.

" Maybe the lapel pin does not mean what it is supposed to mean. Maybe it means nothing at all. "

What knnd of a heathen would even ask such a question?

"The lapel pin doesn't mean a damn thing."

Commie!

Has anyone considered this?

The point of the resolution in question was not just to give the president the power to attack Iran. By naming the revolutinary guard a terrorist orginization we can call them enemy combatints. That means we don't have to follow the geneiva conventions. But it gets better. We can call any captured Iranian a "suspected" terrorist. Why do we suspect them? Well that question can'y be answered due to national security conserns. In fact, I bet we have some of them right now, but because they are enemy combatints our government doesn't even have to tell anyone because the Geniva conventions do not apply.

Call me crazy, but in a year I will be proven right.

I wonder....

if anyone could get answeres half as direct from any of the front runners, as Miz Little got from Tom Tancredo.

Where is the money comming form?

Why are we talking about this in terms of what else we could do with the money? We don't have the money. It is all borrowed.

Monday, October 22, 2007 04:28 PM

Let me just point out....

that we would all be a lot better off if George Bush was a flip-flopper rather than a "stay the course" kinda president.

There is nothing the least bit masculine( or feminine for that matter) about living in fear.
