  • "the lie"

[Read the article: No reprieve for Alberto Gonzales]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"...by spreading the lie that his Niger trip was arranged by his CIA wife." Except every objective review of the matter shows that she indeed influenced the decision to send him. You can't write your own history, Joan. Facts can get in the way.

  • I salute Canada

    [Read the article: Northern exposure]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

...for tracking down and killing Al Queda in Afghanistan, right alongside U.S. and our Afghani allies. While we may differ on sanctuary issues, we are together in bringing hell to the terrorists on the Pakistani/Afghani border.

  • Hands Off Brazil

[Read the article: How Portugal screwed up Brazil]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If Brazil, in an act of sovereignty, deems it practical to export a significant amount of its ethanol production, then it is their business and their right to do so. The only "colonial" "institutional" thing at work here is outsiders thinking they know what's best for Brazil, like the author of this piece. Back off. Hands Off Brazil!

  • Most who support the ban aren't Catholic

[Read the article: Why I won't stay silent anymore]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

And the justice's religion shouldn't matter. If they were jews, would you dare have written this article?

  • Lazy Column

[Read the article: Don Imus is vulgar. So what?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Don Imus, blah blah blah BUT BUSH IS WORSE than all the dark matter in the universe for eternity! I'll be glad for a change in office just to hear you all find something else to bitch about.

  • He consulted and was approved by the ethics committee

[Read the article: Wolfowitz's self-created "cloud"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

What good is an ethics committee if they approved the move and now retroactively everyone is bitching about it. Seems the ethics committee of the World Bank should be fired, not Wolfowitz. And it's no coincidence that this Salon and other articles about the "scandal" don't mention that ethics committee decision. The writers here don't want you to know the whole story.

  • Rethinking?

[Read the article: Rethinking Israel's David-and-Goliath past]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Rethinking history or rewriting history? Won't change the fact that these arab countries sought to destroy israel from day one of it's reclamation. Long live Israel.

  • Pardon Him!

[Read the article: The Libby lobby's pardon campaign]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If Clinton can pardon someone like Marc Rich, and the various other thugs he pardoned, then Bush can pardon Libby after he serves 18 months or so, in January of '09. 18 months is plenty of time considering the crime.

  • They Speak German now in France...

[Read the article: Waiting for Sarkozy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

...don't they? Oh, no, that's right. Self-hating Americans went over and saved their asses. We're still good people. Despite what salonistas think.

  • I feel safe

[Read the article: Bush's blank check]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

...and thank God you letter writers aren't running this country. Even Democrats in power, and the future Democratic administration, know that a certain level of defense spending is required to keep our military modern and capable. If you folks had the say, the taliban would still be running Afghanistan and North Korea would have rolled over South Korea by now. I thank God every day for sensible Democrats who aren't self-hating americans like a lot of the Salon letter writers.

  • From an actual fan of CP

[Read the article: If we leave Iraq, do we lose for good?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

You have to admit, she's provocative. Just look at the volume of hate mail. I've been a fan of Paglia since the early days of Salon. I especially enjoyed her book for the British Film Institute dissecting Hitchock's The Birds. Letter after letter begs the editor not to publish her work here at Salon. Why not just ignore her and let us fans continue to read her work?

  • What about self reliance?

[Read the article: Why I pick lettuce for the Black Panthers]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Why can't they pick their own damn greens? This organization should have long ago been shamed out of existense for its support of killing cops. I'm glad there are only last vestiges of this organization to write about. If it was your husband who'd been shot, you wouldn't go to the garden for these folks.

  • Webb and Feinstein are right.

[Read the article: More on the FISA debacle]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Maybe they supported it because they knew, while politically unpopular, it is the right thing to do.

  • First time Salon reports on job numbers?

[Read the article: Economy loses jobs for the first time in four years]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Wow, where was Salon reporting on job GROWTH for the last 4 years despite 9/11, Iraq & Katrina? So typical...

  • resisting an officer

[Read the article: Know your rights: The Kerry Taser incident]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

When you physically resist an officer after repeated demands, you're asking to be tased.

  • The Gift That Keeps On Giving!

[Read the article: Dan Rather stands by his story]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The longer Dan Rather and Mary Mapes keep this alive, the more damage they are doing to any substantive criticism of Bush. There's plenty to go after Bush over. This isn't the way to do it. Move...on.

  • China's support for Burma and Sudan is enough...

[Read the article: China's deadly Darfur games]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"if what China ISN'T doing in Africa is a reason enough"

It's what they ARE doing that's the problem. They're blocking efforts to curtail Sudan's leadership while they exploit the natural resources of the country. Do some research.

  • Let them leave!

[Read the article: James Dobson's Rudy problem]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

As a libertarian-leaning Republican, I'd rather be in the minority than keep the fundamentalists in the party. They should have taken their intolerance to a third party a long time ago. F*** 'em.

  • Epps ignorant of history

[Read the article: Let's abolish the Electoral College]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"Created to protect the slave states..."

I can't believe how ignorant some writers and editors at Salon can be about history. Even a third grade civics class would know better.

  • Juan Cole's absurdity...

[Read the article: The collapse of Bush's foreign policy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

...reaches new heights. I didn't realize Bush was responsible for preventing fascist suicide bombings in Karachi.

  • Wrong.

[Read the article: Nuclear war on YouTube ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Where the hell are they going to get power for their mansions and concert halls if we DON'T go nuclear? I'm sorry, but these folks are on the wrong side of the environmental debate. Nuclear is the only primary source of energy that will sustain us, along with a mixture of solar, wind and thermal.

  • "The wealthiest 1 percent of Americans earn more than 21 percent of all income. "

[Read the article: Why Democrats are afraid to raise taxes on the rich]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

And they pay 35% of ALL taxes. Robert left that out, of course.

  • My civic gets as much mileage...

[Read the article: The Smart car is coming]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I drive a Honda that gets 40mpg when I'm not using the air conditioning. Why would I want a death trap like the Smart Car?

  • She's not Bush's ally, she's doing it because it right

[Read the article: Dianne Feinstein -- Bush's key ally in the Senate -- to support telecom amnesty]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Why should the telecom's suffer after demands were made on them by the government after 9/11? Fault the government, not the telecoms. Feinstein is doing this because it is right.

  • We'll Be Just Fine

[Read the article: American empire, going, going ...]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I think since we survived Slavery, The Civil War & two World Wars, when much of America was way, way more racially and religiously intolerant, that we'll survive just fine in this new century. America is more pluralistic than any other time in its history. So if that's what you're measuring us by, it's gonna be alright.

  • Kerry Would Have To Release His Military Records

[Read the article: Pickens weasels out on Swift Boat challenge]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

...in order to prove Pickens wrong. Kerry won't do it, so you decide who's moving the goal post. Christmas in Cambodia!
