I'll let you think about that.
This is what our country is suffering from.
And liberals suffer from it as well as conservatives.
The problem with what Obama said is that it is just another failed attempt at framing an argument.
An argument gone wrong...
People have been "clinging" to religion, guns, or whatever other methods of power they have since we've been evolving.
This is nothing new. This has been going on for thousands of years.
This is not why many in Pennsylvania and the rest of the country are not ready for Obama. They would probably be even less ready for Obama if the economy was going well.
Reverend Wright was clinging to his religion.
Was he bitter because of his own personal economic injustice? No. He even had a ivy league education. I think he was quite comfortable financially. And he said some very hateful, paranoid things.
It's all much more complex.
And those of you who make a big deal about the sniper story could not be more shallow. She wrote about it accurately in her book. This has been a long, hard, exhausting campaign. She said "we landed under sniper fire" - never said or meant to say there was literally sniper fire all around. She did not say we landed in sniper fire. The truth is there had been sniper fire in the hills surrounding the airport, and there were concerns because of that. The landing reception was abbreviated because of their concerns. And if you look at the landing video, she did duck into the army vehicle. I can quote articles from the time that prove all of those parts.
Do you care? Will you even accept them? Will you even consider that reality may actually have been different than the way you are currently conceiving of it?
When Hillary gave one of her first major speeches on the economy, none of the major news networks even mentioned it that night. But oh, did they have major shallow fun with the Bosnia story.
How many times did Barack equivocate about if he had heard Wright make statements such as he did? Many times. He hadn't heard them. He didn't really know. Maybe he might have heard some. He kind of knew. It was only 20 years after all. He would have left. You know. Whatever's convenient. If only all that got as much attention as the Bosnia landing remembrance. But no for now. Because the Clinton campaign is much more polite and legitimate with what they take issue with than they are ever given credit for.
The Repbublicans will give it as much attention. And it will be a far more important circumstance to most swing voters when it is broadcast and issued to them again and again. And no, I am not Republican. I have just observed with pain that helps me remember how they have won so successfully against Democrats for so many years.
The fact is as long as people are so shallow - we won't have strong leaders.
We don't have Al Gore as a President in part because of the extreme shallow for profit-ness of those such as Maureen Dowd, who criticized him for wearing "earth-toned" suits.
And a press who didn't like him because he was serious and stiff.
And guess what? He's made lots of money too.
You liberals who are so hateful, biased, and ignorant are no better or more enlightened in thought, action, or opinion than conservatives that do the same.
And I say that out of my concern for this country.
Think about it.
Oh, and yes, I will let you guess who I am.
For some technical reasons that have been unanswered, I am unable to log into my old username.
I will try not to give it away too soon.
But I do have to go at this time...
Lovefests are good, but ignorance is not bliss...
It certainly does not lead to any kind of sustainable bliss.
Sustainable bliss takes clear sight, understanding, forgiveness, letting go of the bad, embracing the good - of all things.
Doing the good work.
You are ignorant towards Salon.
And you are ignorant towards me.
Question is: how small and limited is your mind, and are you truly willing to open and expanding it?
The real problem is ignorance. Igorance of the truth among people who think they know better or know it all when they don't.
She has been systematically demonized by her opponents - Republicans for more than 20 years. And now Democrats are using the same manufactured attacks on her and people buy it.
That is what is wrong with people. They believe whatever they hear. The Clintons keep thinking people will get it right - that people will be able to see through all the smears. But people don't. If anything, they overestimate people's intelligence, and don't do enough to clear things up. They are so used to being attacked after all these years. They are almost numb to it anymore. It's inconceivable, how hard they've worked for this country. How the first Clinton administration was the most socio-economically successful we've ever had - and how many people forget. Or that doesn't matter.
Many in the press would still rather smear the Clintons and their personal lives as much as possible rather than talk about issues of substance, and many will never talk about their own responsiblity in helping Bush get elected twice or pushing for the war in Iraq, and portraying people who were against it unpatriotic. Many in press did that. They ostracized Cindy Sheehan.
I haven't heard anyone talking about Hillary's plan to help reduce violent crime and reform the criminal justice system in major cities.
Hillary's policies have been reviewed to be the greenest policies. Have you paid any attention to that?
Have you paid any attention to anything that really matters?
You are the one with very shallow eyes.
