"The Fat Lady Sang"
[Read the article: "The Sopranos" goes dark]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The gangster soap opera needed one great aria. In this case it is David Chase going all "David Lynch" on us with a feast of obvio-obscure references to sustain our small talk for months to come. Then he did to that thing of his, what any of the lovable lugs he created would do, he put a bullet in its brain.

Recommended reading for the Kaganistas
[Read the article: American war culture in a nutshell]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Catch 22" by Joseph Heller may interest the Kagan family. Moving the goal post is an old military trick.
We went to Iraq to:
1. Stop Saddam from supplying weapons of mass destruction to terrorists.
Mission accomplished.
2. Liberate the Iraqi people from a brutal and repressive dictatorship and to allow them to form their own government through free elections.
Mission Accomplished twice.
3. Secure military bases which would allow us to control the flow of oil from Iraq in case al Qaeda were to overthrow the house of Saud.
Well, two out of three ain't bad.
I say to our valiant and worn-out military men and women, great work, now come on home! Remember, our CinC is a Texan and the Texans took several years to inform their slaves that they were free. Don't worry about saving the Iraqi's from themselves. They've been at it for about 2500 years now, they'll work things out on their own. Hope to see you soon.

Brilliant. Tina Fey should host the Oscars.
[Read the article: Tina Fey: "Bitch is the new black"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]One of the best comedy pieces I've seen in years. Up there with the "Bass-o-matic". But on this eve of the Texas/Ohio showdown, I'd like to urge Senator Clinton to be (God forgive me for paraphrasing Roger Ailes, the message.
Senator Obama is connecting with the people by being his message. In a nutshell, if I can do it, so can you. His "Yes we can" slogan is perfect for all he represents. He is the benchwarmer quarterback who rises to greatness when put into the big game.
Senator Clinton is the validictorian. The smart girl who screwed up the bell curve for the rest of us. But she, and the women in my life, are denying the obvious and not embracing the real message she is. If she had not married Bill Clinton she would not be where she is today. She's smart, but doesn't have that let's "win one for the Gipper" personality that ruined W's life.
Bill Clinton got lucky (thanks to another nutty Texan, Mr. Perot) and got elected. He took an economy in crisis and eight years later left with a projected surplus. And yes, Hillary was there, and yes she learned a lot, and yes, she will hit the ground running. But in absence of Bill's charisma, she needs to simply be charming and promise to be the president Bill Clinton almost was. That's what we want too.
Hillary for 8 years and Vice-President Obama for the next eight years. Just think of the Supreme Court we could have 16 years from now if we democrats vote in our own self interest for a change. As for Bill..she should make him Ambassador to Isreal where his portfolio is to teach policy formation to all the leaders of all the Mid-East countries...and not come home until he can talk Osama Bin Laden into surrendering. He owes us that much.
P.S. Tina. I don't think women should try to own the tag "bitch" any more than I think black people should try to own the word "nigger". Decades after Dick Gregory and Richard Pryor tried to defuse its power, the natural uncomfortable reaction to my using that word here demonstrates that we must all let it go.
Peace on Earth.

I got your "paradigm shift" right here.
[Read the article: Obama should be proud to be named Hussein]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"My fellow Americans, I present to you the President of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama!"
I like it. A son of Kansas and Kenya, who reminds us that "yes we can"! The guy who not only can reach across the aisle, he can wrap his arms around a nation and remind us not who we are, but who we want to be.
Just when the world thinks the American experiment has failed, we're going blaze a trail through the hate and evolve into the amazing beings God created us to be.
We're all dreamers on this bus.
