The vitriol heaped on Hillary has nothing to do with her being a woman. It has to do with her willingness to win at any costs. When both candidates were focusing on what they would do if elected, Hillary got her head handed to her (Obama won 12 primaries in a row).
So Hillary went negative. She said things like: Shame on You Barack Obama... and "he's not a Muslim... well, as far as I know"... etc. etc.
I have been shocked at the number of women who want Hillary to win because she is a woman. She is not experienced. She is the wife of a former President with less time in office than Barack Obama. She whines. She plays the victim. Basically, she does all the things that sexists claim women do.
Why women would want Hillary instead of someone like Nancy Pelosi seems strange to me. So women can say, see, find a man and ride his coat tails? The key to power is through who you marry?
Thankfully, not all women are going for this "identity politics" and its disgraceful watching the ones who are.
I understand "identity" politics. You are a woman, so you want to vote for a woman. Ok.
But please stop repeating these untrue mantras like: Hillary is experienced.
Hillary is the wife of a former President. That does not make her experienced. If you think so, go to the wife of a brain surgeon when you need surgery.
Hillary rode Bill's coattails into the Senate. And you're proud of that?
Does America really need to follow the path of these half-ass South American dictatorships where the wife of the dictator takes power?
How a woman calling themselves a "feminist" can support a woman who is where she is because of her husband is truly a stretch of logic. Shouldn't you be urging Nancy Pelosi to run since she IS where she is due to her ability?
For months Obama and Hillary "made nice" until Obama won 12 primaries in a row. Faced with losing, Hillary uttered her famous: "Shame on You Barack Obama" and her campaign went into full slime mode. Come November, we can all look back and see this was the moment that Hillary handed the White House to McCain.
Since her utterance, she has lied ("sniper fire was all around us as we rushed to the cars"- now we can see the footage where there was no sniper fire and no rushing... just smiling and waving); said that only she and McCain were qualified to be the President (being a former First Lady being her credentials); and said... well, Obama is not a Muslim... "as far as I know". (Lee Atwater must be smiling to see his strategies being used by a Democrat).
But what gets me is how Salon has stood by silently. Apparently afraid to offend paying customers, Salon makes no effort to point out the obvious:
Hillary had already lost the nomination before Ohio / Texas. She could not and cannot catch up with Obama. So she has been willing to do ANYTHING to avoid defeat.
Her only hope has been to tear down Obama and go after the Super Delegates. But this ain't going to work. Obama's followers are NOT going to vote for Hillary. The democrats cannot win without the African-American vote and they are not going to vote for Hillary. (You think they will vote for Hillary after she has slimed Obama the way she has?)
Salon? Are you paying attention? Does Bill call you each day to chat? Can't offend the Clintons. They're party royalty. Does the female editor find it painful to give up the dream of Hillary being the first female President? Does the loyalty to feminism outweigh loyalty to the country?
Very, very sad.
So with the handwriting on the wall for over a month, Salon decides to print the obvious (by quoting Politico) that Hillary can't win...
Well, she could destroy the party by continuing to slime Obama and then twisting arms (hey, the Clinton Royalty must be obeyed) of the Super Delegates to get the nomination...
but as Politico points out, you have to be from another planet to think the Democratic Party can do this to the African-American community and still get their votes... no AA votes... McCain wins.
So Salon... what the hell took you so long?
Shouldn't Salon have been in the forefront of calling for Hillary to stop her slime campaign and begin now to try to put the egg she broke back together?
Salon, you disappoint
So Joan thinks that after saying Obama is not fit to be the President but McCain is, that Obama might be a Muslim, "shame on you Barack Obama" and on and on that Obama supporters will forget all that and vote for Hillary? Now I know why democrats can't win the White House (Clinton was a fluke caused by Ross Perot).
I understand Bill Clinton is the party rock star (I voted for him twice). But Hillary is not fit to be the President. Want proof?
No one seems to notice it but "we had to duck and run from sniper fire" is clearly a lie. She did not "misspeak"; she lied! Faulty memory is absurd. Who would forget getting shot at while you have your daughter next to you. This is a clear case of where the Republicans are right: Hillary will say anything or do anything to win.
She knows, and her campaign knows, the only way to win is to press the Super Delegates into overturning the voters choice: Obama. This, as any person with an IQ over 90 understands, would destroy the party. But she is willing to do this to win.
The idea of electing the wife of a former President is absurd enough. A lying former wife is out of the question.
