Conason and Shapiro and Salon
[Read the article: Some free advice for Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]After years of reading Conason and Shapiro, its disappointing to see them become shills for the Clintons. I understand Salon is a left leaning forum but this ass-kissing of the Clintons threatens any integrity that Salon claims to have.
With the primaries so split between Obama and Clinton, it really does not make sense that Salon is SO in the Clinton camp. Does Bill stop by and make staffers feel important?
Bill Clinton was an exceptional President but the Clintons care about the Clintons. Period. Bill having an affair with a 21 year old is indicative of the way they think: whatever they want they take.
The conduct of the Hillary during this campaign is disgraceful. If a Republican were behaving like this Salon, Conason and Shapiro would be screaming bloody murder. For Salon et al to sit back and stay quite is truly, truly disappointing.

Salon continues to disappoint
[Read the article: Ferraro resigns from Clinton campaign]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The Ferraro debacle continues to show a huge hole in Salon's integrity. Salon is tap dancing around this one to avoid offending the women who support Hillary.
That's what makes Ferraro's comments so absurd. Hillary is a Senator from New York ONLY because she is the wife of Bill Clinton. Her "experience" that she touts is being married to the President. Let's get Rosalyn Carter to run. Or Laura Bush.
I have been heartened to see the comments of many, many women who could care less that Hillary is a woman, they chose Obama because he simply has "chops". Like Bill Clinton and John F. Kennedy, he has the talent to lead. Gore, Kerry, Mondale and Dukaksis AND Hillary Clinton all share the same fate: they are bland. They are not leaders who inspire.
I understand the realities of Salon needing to keep a readership base. But it seems the height of hypocrisy for Salon to criticize politicians for their lapses of integrity while engaging in the same behavior.
Thank God that Ferraro never reached the VP position. Is she really so blind to see that Hillary is where she is because her name is Clinton? And Obama has managed to get where he is despite the fact that he was an unknown with the name Barack Obama? Yes, all those black people in Wyoming and Iowa (do they have black people in Iowa and Wyoming) are responsible for his landslide wins in those states.
Obama is the brightest star to come along for the Democrats since JFK. And the old time democrats and women who are so sexist they want a woman at any costs are going to sink his campaign.
Despite 8 years of Republican corruption, McCain will win. Hillary and her scorched earth campaign will put McCain in the White House.
A woman whose only real credential is she was married to the President, who lost 11 straight primaries, suggests Obama, who has been ahead in delegates for months, should be HER VP,
although she says he is not experienced enough to be the President.
And Salon looks the other way? Very, very disappointing.

Thank God Joe has returned
[Read the article: Geraldine Ferraro still needs to apologize]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]As a long time reader and admirer of Joe Conason, it is nice to see that he has returned to journalism after his recent ass-kissing pieces about the Clintons.
This is the kind of journalism that Joe can do when he is not falling all over himself to defend the Clintons-regardless of what they have done.
Interestingly, Ferraro was named to the ticket ONLY because she was a woman; HIllary is a Senator and a candidate ONLY because she was married to Bill Clinton. And feminists worship these two?
Obama? Any fool can see that if John Edwards had the "chops" of Barack Obama, he would have long ago locked up the nomination. Listen to Obama respond off the cuff to the outrageous attacks on him with a quiet dignity and thougtfulness and ask yourself when you've EVER heard a leader handle himself so well.
This is supreme intelligence and talent.
Now imagine a leader like that in the White House.
Yes, I do understand all the "feminists" who have been wetting their pants over "one of their own" getting in the White House. But what they haven't considered is, IF Hillary were to make (God Help Us) it would be a woman simply riding her husbands coattails. Wouldn't it be so much better to see a woman (like Pelosi has) make it on her own?

Alex... you too
[Read the article: Reexamining the Ferraro fracas]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What the hell is going on at Salon.
All of you have your lips stuck to Hillary Clinton's ass. Ferraro's comments were so outrageous, so obviously wrong, and yet she was and is SO smug (like Hillary) and so... angry that Obama -on his own merits- is taking away a WOMAN'S chance at the White House.
The truth is both Ferraro and Hillary have had their positions handed to them. They did not earn them. Hillary rode her husbands coattails into the Senate. She has had every possible advantage: she had all the party powerbrokers, a pile of money (in the beginning) her husbands name, and yet she has run a truly pathetic campaign.
She has managed to divide the party and all but destroy the chance of ANY democrat winning in the general election.
And you ass-kissers at Salon just keep puckering up. I just don't get it.
Hillary created this mess. She is the one who after losing 11 straight primaries decided to go negative and "become a fighter".
Salon should be pointing this out instead of puckering up.
