Thanks for putting in the link for me. I left it out when I couldn't figure out how to make it clickable - I'm too used to other sites where links are automatically made clickable. (BTW, copying and pasting is easier and faster in Linux - no need to pull down the copy/paste menu - the left mouse button copies, and the middle button pastes).
I'm glad that President Obama has said that he is opposed to a fairness doctrine - hopefully, if something gets as far as his desk he will veto it. Of course, you can't always trust politicians......
Find the verified quotation in which Senator Stabenow called for the return of the fairness doctrine. Link it. Show that it comes from a reliable source, and isn't something Rush Limbaugh pulled out of his ear. Because I can't find any such quote, nor any reference to the fairness doctrine on her web site. I see a lot of blogs huffing and puffing about how evil she is for daring to think such a thought, but none quoting the exact words or context in which she called for it.
You seem to have missed my post (on page 19), so I will repeat it here.
You had earlier written:
I just Googled "Debbie Stabenow" and "fairness doctrine," and got page after page after page of right-wing blogs hyperventilating over this supposed evil plan to give Rush a little competition. But not a single mainstream media outlet or liberal blog.
I googled "Stabenow and the fairness Act", and the third item was Michael Calderone's piece at politico.com titled "Sen. Stabenow wants hearings on radio 'accountability'; talks fairness doctrine"
He quotes a radio interview between Bill Press and Senator Stabenow:
BILL PRESS: Yeah, I mean, look: They have a right to say that. They’ve got a right to express that. But, they should not be the only voices heard. So, is it time to bring back the Fairness Doctrine?
SENATOR DEBBIE STABENOW (D-MI): I think it’s absolutely time to pass a standard. Now, whether it’s called the Fairness Standard, whether it’s called something else — I absolutely think it’s time to be bringing accountability to the airwaves. I mean, our new president has talked rightly about accountability and transparency. You know, that we all have to step up and be responsible. And, I think in this case, there needs to be some accountability and standards put in place.
BILL PRESS: Can we count on you to push for some hearings in the United States Senate this year, to bring these owners in and hold them accountable?
SENATOR DEBBIE STABENOW (D-MI): I have already had some discussions with colleagues and, you know, I feel like that’s gonna happen. Yep.

I defy ANYONE to cite a single instance of a Democratic elected official or serious observer arguing for the return of the F.D.
A simple googling of fairness doctorine turned up this:
Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Tuesday defended the so-called Fairness Doctrine in an interview on Fox News, saying, “I think we should all be fair and balanced, don’t you?”
...............
In 2007, Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), a close ally of Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) told The Hill, “It’s time to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine.
As a pro-choice atheist, I would like to thank you for reminding people that feminism should not be restricted to those who answer the abortion and religion questions the "correct" way.
BTW, as a man, I do not find Sarah Palin attractive.
