WES, Hillary Clinton would never, ever criticize America or our government. Everyone knows America has never done a thing wrong, ever. That's why she doesn't see the need to change a thing. Why change perfection? I'm just wondering why she didn't have a flag pin on her pant-suit lapel.

Mrs. Clinton is a true patriot. How do I know? Because she supported banning flag burning and eveyone knows the biggest patriots are the ones who really, really love the flag.

My nearest neighbor must love America more than I do because his SUV is just festooned with American flags and I've never heard him once be critical of our nation OR its government.

Hillary Clinton is married to a man who once protested against the United States in a foreign country.

That's about as relevant as the opinions of Obama's minister in this race.

Which do you believe is more of a threat to Americans?

A Obama's minister saying "God damn America" in the context of a black man who went through the civil rights struggles,

or a U.S. Senator who wants to ban American protestors from burning the flag?

I'll defer to Sen. Feingold's remarks as he was rejecting Sen. Clinton's attempt to alter the Bill of Rights:

Mr. President, I strongly oppose S.J. Res. 12. Make no mistake, we are talking here today about modifying the Constitution of the United States to permit the government to criminalize conduct that all of us find offensive and wrong, but that is protected by the First Amendment. This amendment would, for the first time, amend the Bill of Rights. I cannot support this course......But we must also defend the right of all Americans to express their views about their government, however hateful or spiteful or disrespectful those views may be, without fear of their government putting them in jail for those views. America is not simply a nation of symbols, it is a nation of principles. And the most important principle of all, the principle that has made this country a beacon of hope and inspiration for oppressed peoples throughout the world, is the right of free expression. This amendment threatens that right, so I must oppose it.

I spent 3 1/2 years in a war zone, and I still call BS on Mrs. Clinton.

Chelsea being with her on the trip is the most telling, even if you discount everyone else who contradicts Mrs. Clinton's recollections.

What mother would expose her teenage daughter to sniper fire?

All my wife would have to be told is that there was sniper fire covering the tarmac and there would have been a APC taxing up to the aircraft before she'd let our children deplane.

So there's two choices here. Either Mrs. Clinton is attempting to unnecessarily juice her experience for political purposes or SHE is the kind of mother that would expose her child to unecessary danger.

  • I'm tired of hearing about the ehite vote.

And I'm an old white guy.

Does anyone know the last time a Democrat won the Presidency with the majority of the white vote?

In 2000 Gore got 42% of the white vote and 90% of the black vote; and won the popular vote.

In 1996, Clinton had 44% of the white vote and 84% of the black vote and didn't break 50% of the popular vote, even though he had more whites than Gore.

Clinton did worse in 92 winning only 39% of the white vote, 83% of the black vote and 43% of the total popular vote.

Does anyone think that Hillary Clinton will do better with whites against McCain that Gore got in 2000 or Bill got in 96?

Hillary will never get more of the white vote than Gore and after this campaign she'll be lucky if she get 80% of the black vote.

What that mean in the end is she'll never be elected President.

Not this year, not 2012, not 2016, not ever.

In 04, Kerry got 44% of the white vote and split hispanics asians etc with Bush pretty evenly.

But the black vote was 11% of the total electorate and when you get 90% of that vote that's a full 10% points more than your opponent.

A Democrat MUST win the black vote overwhelmingly in order to win the White House.

If Obama is the nominee, you can expect record turnouts of black and youth voters that will overwhelm the Republican.

I don't see that happening should Hillary win the nomination.

  • Joan Walsh and Joe Scarborough

[Read the article: Was Obama's speech enough?]

I guess Joe and Joan are pretty chummy.

Apparently Joan emailed Joe in the middle of the speech to comment on how Obama just "threw his grandmother under the bus".

Joe made the comment moments ago on his "Morning Joe" program on MSNBC.

Joe, now pulling hard for a John McCain and Hillary Clinton in the general has focused on Joan's comments as proof that Obama is now unelectable.

With "progressives" like Joan, we don't need conservatives anymore.

  • Obama's speech was enough

It did what it was meant to do.

If this was October, his minister's comments would have been fatal.

When October does roll around, it will be a footnote.

  • How would the right run against Clinton

[Read the article: The GOP attack plan for Barack Obama]

Would the Right focus on Mrs. Clinton's longstanding connection with the fascist-leaning "Fellowship," aka The Family?

I guess it woud be doubtful since many on the right are also longtime members.
