[Read the article: How Hillary Clinton botched the black vote]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I think you missed the gist of the article, or didn't read it.

It doesn't ask how Hillary isn't managing to get 90% of the black vote. It's asking why she doesn't get 20%. If she just managed to keep Obama's black support to 80% the race would be totally different right now. And the article shows how it was probable that in the beginning, she would have 20%-25% black support. But Penn rolled out a "Southern Strategy" for Hillary and probably pushed another 10% of black voters over the edge. A stupid strategy since the way Democratic primaries are organized, urban areas carry more delgates than rural areas that don't vote Democratic in general elections.

She needed above all else to mitigate his support somewhat with black voters. She didn't do it, and it was a mistake.

Just like she needed a plan for caucus states, and states after Super Tuesday. Just like she needed a plan to raise cah from small donors. None of these mistakes taken by themselves would have been fatal. But together, they are the difference between inevitable and fighting for her political life.

Because there is just no way that overwhelming turnout is gumming up the process.

Indiana now has the toughest election laws in the country. it was their draconian elections laws that the SCOTUS just upheld.

Everyone going to the polls must show a photo ID. They have tighter controls on handling of ballots than police departments have on evidence.

are the effects of Republicans voting in the primary for the sole purpose of creating chaos.

I can't imagine how anyone could take the sacred right that Americans have fought and died for, and use it in this way.

    Clinton lead less than 2%.

Most of the vote left in Obama's stronghold of Lake County.

    75% to 25%

If trend continues, Obama could carry IN.

Do you really believe that whites who won't vote for a person because of their race is a moderate?

What does it mean today to be liberal, moderate or conservative?

Well, when Obama's votes in the Senate earned him the label as most liberal, it is telling to examine the liberal stances he took that earned him that label.

The votes on ethics was tabulated as a liberal stance.

His non-vote and stated opposition to Kyl-Lieberman, liberal.

In fact very little of what the Senate actually worked on in the last session could be considered "liberal".

Where does Obama stand on any issue that is more left of center than Hillary Clinton? Do you count threatening to oblitirate Iran as moderate to left-of-center?

It seems more and more, in this climate, to take a moderate stand is considered liberal. Sabre rattling on Iran is considered moderate. I guess advocating total nuclear war on the middle east is the new conservative.

Clinton is no more moderate than Obama on domestic issues.

In fact, he's in pretty good standing here in IL with sport shooters and coal miners. He's advocacy of nuclear energy and clean coal is certainly not a leftist notion.

  • The Democratic pie has been much larger

People tend to forget that in almost every one of these contests, even back before the Republican contest was decided, there were twice as many Dems in some cases voting than Republicans. In some states more people voted for Clinton and Obama seperately than all the Republican votes combined.

There is a huge tsunami headed for Republicans this year. I'm not saying that Dem don't have to fight, but McCain should be up by 20 points in polls against either candidate (his numbers will fall when the contest really begins). All the negative spot light has been on Clinton and Obama. That is about to change.

  • McCain's troubles

[Read the article: What does Hillary want?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I haven't seen this much anywhere, but McCain lost 22% of the vote in IN last night and 28% in NC.

That's a lot of dissatisfaction in a race that is uncontested.

Almost a third of Republicans voted against their presumptive nominee who is running unopposed! Incredible.

  • I'd hate to have you people with me in a fox hole

Obama is the nominee. He needs to reach out to Mrs. Clinton and the former President for their support. The Democratic party will come together to take on McCain.

You don't think Obama can win in November, fine. Please take you pessimistic and defeatist attitude with you as you sit this one out.

Otherwise, suck it up and join the fight. I can guarantee that the Clintons won't just lie down and hand it to the Republicans.

It's a long slugfest to November. A million things can happen between now and then. There is no one under the sun that can say with certainty that Obama can't win or will win in November. What do you think the odds were a year ago that he would defeat Hillary Clinton for the nomination?

Its a fools game to under estimate the Clintons but I think its equally foolish to under estimate Obama. His rise in national politics has proven that if nothing else.

    So stop the self flagellation.

Stop being shell shocked by the big bad Republicans. Democrats have new weapons at their disposal we didn't have even four years ago. We've got more cash, bigger and more accurate voter databases, more state governments and the machines that go with them, a more energized electorate, net media outlets that put right wing talk radio to shame, a younger more hopeful candidate, and we're going kick the Republcans asses in some of the most solidly Republican Congressional district in the country.

Either sign on for the big win and be a part of history or sulk in the corner.

We want you with us. The Democratic party needs you. But if all you plan to do is pull down the party's nominee, then go in peace.
