@ obamaisbraindead

Enough. I am tired of the lies and misinformation you and your kind spread.

My father's name is Ted. He is not a serial killer.

My mother's name is Dora. She is not an explorer.

We do not choose our names. They are given to us by our parents.

Obama is NOT, NOR EVER HAS BEEN a Muslim, but what if he were? The United States was founded on the concept of religious freedom, or have you forgotten that? That is one of the truly great things about this country and I will NOT have that gem of wisdom taken away by intolerant people such as yourself. Just because a few radical Muslims attacked our country on 9/11 does NOT mean that ALL Muslims are terrorists.Christianity has more than a few skeletons in the closet. Have you read any world history? What about the Crusades, or the Spanish Inquisition? Not exactly bright spots from the "love thy neighbor crowd".

This guilt by association must stop.

And for the record, Jesus was a community organizer. I see no one scoffing at that.

I apologize to everyone else for being off-topic.

@ Italia

"I shudder to think of a BO Presidency where no one is allowed to question his performance and Repression will Rule."

That's very funny, since this is exactly what we've had for the last eight years.

It's over. Really.

When McCain was up for the nomination in 2000 I admired him. In 2008 he was a different person. This election got away from him for so many reasons: the religious right, the economy, the poor choice of VP, etc. Palin's clothes and her husband's freebies were off his radar. He had other things to think about. This issue illustrates how his campaign manager etc. really let him down. Don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE Obama fan, but I do feel sorry for McCain. It was just like one big crappy snowball of mismanagement and ineptitude going down a steep hill.

He lost. Now it's time to move on and come together. Really. Articles like this just seem to fan the flames.

As for Obama's birth certificate (@ somethingstinks) please get over that. If he were ineligible to become POTUS, believe me, someone in your party would have made that issue stick a LOOONG time ago.

The "Other" Inconvenient Truth

The objectification and abuse of the female gender has happened throughout history on every continent and in every culture.

These girls have paid the price for wanting to be more than their culture allows. With education comes the recipe for change, and for these brutal men, this change is a frightening thing that cannot be allowed.

A book is a window to an alternative universe. The center shifts from the males in these girls' lives to the girls themselves. They have the opportunity, even permission, to create personal worlds crafted from their own imaginations and no man can enter that space. This is what these men fear; that education will shift the focus from the needs and desires of men to the needs and desires of the educated female. These girls will in fact, gain access to their own hearts.

They will also gain exposure to alternatives;for with knowledge comes the realization that things can be different and certain people may be wrong. Lives could change. This is also frightening for these men. With change comes the weight of an "inconvenient" acknowledgment of responsibility and blame; one which these men are not willing to carry.

The truth is, "family honor" has never been determined by the actions of the female gender. It has rested firmly on the shoulders of their male counterparts. It is not the women and young girls who rape, disfigure and/or lure (i.e. force) females into compromising situations. It is the males. For every act of indiscretion, there is a culpable male .

To affirm this truth is to acknowledge that the system is grotesque, violent and cruel. This would mean that the belief structure and the male identity which is formed by it, is not just flawed but may be corrupt. Change is therefore warranted, even necessary. A change involving sacrifice, with a shift in power moving from male toward female, seeking equality and balance.

It is this perceived attack on male identity and elevated place in society that these men are fighting against. These young girls are just the latest sacrifices placed on the altar of male identity and ego.

There are organizations that are fighting to keep education alive in places such as these.
