It's all about cannibal capitalism and miscalculation of profit.
[Read the article: Offshoring -- where it stops, nobody knows]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Geez, if industry is deserting S. Korea, the working class is really in a mess. What lacks here is a well rounded sense of social responsiblity. Bottom line thinking leads to places like Detroit (probably never on the list for new capital, given the union history there) turning into a third world county.
The notion of profit and return must be redefined to include a meaningful social wage that, instead of impoverishing, assures people a reasonable standard of living.
Hence, lobby your federal electeds to bury the new 'trade deal' before it becomes reality.

Bloomberg Bought Both Elections, Why Not A Third?
[Read the article: Mike Bloomberg could buy the White House]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]While Bloomberg has been a boon to public health, his policies have destroyed affordable housing--an issue near and dear to my heart since I am one of the last rent-stabilized tenants in Manhattan.
Bloomberg is not a Democrat. He is a socially liberal Republican. He believes in the free market regardless of the social costs. When the largest subsidized housing complex was being sold, he did not support the tenant's efforts to buy it. It went to the highest bidder who will continue the efforts to force rent regulated tenants out. Even if the effort is unsuccessful, as the regulated tenants live (or die) those units will become 'luxury' housing.
The only reason Bloomberg is Mayor is because he bought both elections. He spent over $1000 for each vote in the last election. He refused to participate in the best public funding system in the country. Oh by the way, he supports restricting how those who do participate raise money.
He could buy the presidency. Woe be to us.

Increase in Blow Jobs Contributes to Decrease in Vaginal Intercourse
[Read the article: Why are teens putting off sex?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]When my daughter was in middle school the rage for girls who wanted to impress boys was giving blow jobs. They don't consider it 'real sex'. Girls at some of the finest schools in NYC were participating. In a recent Showtime series, the 14 year old son of the main character participated in a blow job party--girls wore different color lipsticks. The more colors, the cooler the boy.
This charade may or may not be the result of all this abstinence stuff, but it is real.
I do not condone high school intercourse, let alone middle school blow jobs.
The survey should include questions on oral sex.. Then we may know the truth.
P.S. I told my daughter that she doesn't give a bj unless she gets something in return.

Will Miss BN in Two Weeks
[Read the article: I Like to Watch]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I watched Burn Notice from the beginning. I really enjoy it and my reluctant spouse finally agreed with me. I'm girding my loins for the end of the season. I'm not a happy camper.

Oh Stop Complaining
[Read the article: Opus]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]To those who feel it was heavy handed--what are you too smart for the comics?
Great toon--I'm emailing it to my mother!

Stopping the hands of time
[Read the article: Stopping the hands of time]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I admit to using prescription strength retine (I don't even know how to spell it)to contain wrinkles. I am proud that I mask my gray hair by keeping it in a crew cut. However, I'm not going to do anything about my aged hands. There has to be a limit.

Hope the Kids are Living in the Past
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I remember well how every trip to Minnesota was a disaster for my home team (I'm shocked to realize that it has been 10+ years). Given the age of your children--how do they remember that history? Being the pessimist that I am, they are probably right.

Why Do Husbands Want Mommy?
[Read the article: Are our husbands really so helpless?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I am gratified to know there are men who understand that a relationship is a partnership and freely share the responsibility of the maintenance of that partnership on the home front. I did not marry that man. It pisses me off no end. In fact, his brother's refusal to grow up and accept responsibility for himself, his child and his home, led to the dissolution of a 30 year relationship. He is now involved with a woman who controls everything for him--weight loss, medications, vacations, clean house, dinner every night, nurses when sick, etc. He found mommy.
Why do women tolerate this nonsense? I find it outrageous. Women did not enter the workforce to work two (or in some cases 3) jobs. Most had no choice, those who did expected cooperation from their well-educated partners.
It is incomprehensible to me that anyone tolerates a situation where a man does not pull his weight. My spouse will not shape up and my goal, in family therapy, is to have him acknowledge that I am not his mother, and I will not be treated as such. If it doesn't work....well maybe it is time to move on.

Clinton Campaign Crying Foul
[Read the article: Boys against girl?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The use of gender in the Clinton campaign's spin on the debate is playing both sides of the fence. It ignores the substance of the disagreements expressed by Edwards, Dodd, and Biden.
There are substantial differences between the candidates. How else are they going to be aired if the differences are not raised? As front runner, she has to expect it and defend her positions (such as they are). None the less, I anticipated her using the 'poor defenseless girl facing the big strong men' defense. As a woman, I find it appalling and an insult to me and the millions of other women who work with men. It is a sign of weakness.
Of course Richardson is angling for the the job of Clinton's VP. They are very compatible. Despite of his pledge to pull troops out of Iraq immediately, he is a corporate Democrat who supports free trade over fair trade. Leave it to the liberals to miss that important issue.
