    Daley won't debate, period.

I think we've seen enough of these debates. Let's be honest, its the same questions, the same answers, the same ego-bloated media personalities. Instead of a debate I'd rather see each candidate spend an hour taking questions and giving in-depth answers, while not being allowed to reference or comment on their opponent. Each would get the same questions.

I don't think watching these people running for president snipe at each other for entertainment purposes really serves a purpose. I never finish watching one feeling I've learned much beyond seeing new material they're testing for their stump speeches.

Back to back. Each candidate for an hour sitting in front of a plain backdrop with materials and papers outlining their proposals for reference taking questions from an unseen panel.

"I'm worried. Its very frumpy. You want her to look good at the podium, you don't want her to LOOK LIKE the podium."

The possibilities are endless for her to get free air time in far more entertaining ways than another insufferable debate:

"HOW DID SEN. CLINTON GET ON MONDAY NIGHT RAW?! WHO LET HER IN HERE?! SHE JUST KNOCKED OUT MR. McMAHON WITH A FOLDING CHAIR!"

Late Nights on HBO: Def Comedy Jam

"My husband gave me a bikini wax for my birthday. I told the _______, 'I don't care if that ______ _______ Gennifer Flowers was shaved bald down there', no one's getting near my ________ with __________ wax!"

  • a vote for the Republican nominee is a "Surrender to Terror"

[Read the article: Mitt Romney suspends presidential campaign]

It is the Republicans who have terrorized the American people for seven years. Terrorist gain their power through fear. The Republicans have used "fear" as surely as any "Islamo-fascist" has used bombs. If the American people once again fall prey to the Republicans using fear like a blunt-force weapon, then yes, we will have surrendered to terror.

  • "If Obama is the "no experience" candidate against John McCain, I can see a Democratic defeat that would be the death-knell for the party."

Hillary clinton is tied to her husband. Much of her "35 years experience" involves what her husband did more than she. She speaks of "Ours years in the White House" "When we were in the White House." "It took a Clinton to clean up after a Bush, and will take another Clinton..."

The Republicans will be running a 24 hour a day Islamo-fascists Are Coming to Kill You campaign. If Clinton gets the nomination the Republicans will be offering up a stoic, stalwart war hero. The Democrats will be offering The Draft Dodger's Woman. That's the big cannon they have loaded and aimed and ready to fire the second she nails down the nomination. The military loathed Bill Clinton from his first day in office to his last. Maybe you need to remember those Clinton years with Republican lawmakers saying if he visited the troops "his saftey might not be guaranteed" or military personel saying "He's NOT my comander in chief." I

"its my duty to follow orders, but I have no respect for him." " "this may be the first time the military refuses a President's orders."

Obama is military nuetural. Clinton is military toxic (don't tell me she's on the Senate Armed Services Committe. No one cares). Obama can chose a Wes Clark type as running mate. There's nothing Clinton can do to overcome being the Draft-Dodger's Wife. At time when we're mired in two mid-east wars and terrorism still a resonant issue, you better believe that can, alone, be fatal to her campaign in the general.

    Clinton will never beat McCain.

  • He won twice.

and many thanks to Ross Perot.

He certainly wouldn't win in today's environment.

  • But the real question is, will the tactics used by the Republicans in 2004 work again in 2008?

[Read the article: Clinton campaign continues pressing for debates ]

Yes it will work. Remember the boomer womwn voting for Clinton in the primaries were the "security moms" who voted for Bush in '04. It wasn't like George Bush's first term was even acceptable. It was horrible. He was re-elected, anyway. Enough Democrats fell for the terror tactics. It might not resonate as much this time, but it still will be a force to be delt with.

George Bush has always been and remarkably still is very popular with the military. Of course his own military record is lousy, but it didn't stick to him. It sure stuck to Bill Clinton.

The Republicans can and will use it against the Clintons. 2008 is alot different than 1996. 9/11, two current wars and the threat of terrorists. The Clintons were reviled by the military, and that will surely be an issue. I'm not saying its right or fair.

Picture her ferociously beating it at a campaign stop in Texas. Mark Penn would have to drag her away as she screamed over and over, "DAY ONE! DAY ONE!"

...oh wait a minute! He really said it.

All joking aside, do not underestimate these people. "Well we haven't had another terrorist attack since 9/11" "I just don't think the Democrats can keep us safe" "I'm not happy about Iraq, but its better if we fight them there." We've heard it all before. People fall for this crap in numbers enough to hand the White House back to the Republicans.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Democrats as a party and both candidates better come out with powerful foreign policy positions beyond "I'll pull us out of Iraq." Biden and to an extent Dodd were the only ones to talk about foreign policy in a powerful way. It has to be addressed if the Democrats want to win in November. In this last debate between Clinton and Obama Iraq came up at the very end. Foreign policy was treated as a minor afterthought.

Fear tactics work, especially as people are walking into the voting booth. The Democrats can not let the Republicans own national security and foreign policy going into the election. The can't play defense.

  • Pets are family

I have two macaws. Considering the great age they can live to I'm sure they'll outlive me by a long, long time. So I'm looking at a lifetime of care for them, and vet bills can be very expensive for birds.

If people don't want to assume the responsibility of caring for a creature who's entire survival depends on you then you shouldn't have a pet. To me pets are family.
