  • "but Clinton only won by scuttling what the Democratic Party actually stood for"

[Read the article: She said, he said]

He also won by virtue of a third party candidate that crapped in the GOP's punchbowl.

Why did I fully understand and appreciate Obama's remarks about Reagan and the Republicans? The hand-wringing and angst from Democrats over them is a bit rediculous. Reagan was a dynamic force who managed to bring alot of Democrats and independants along for the ride. The Republican Party WAS the party of big ideas...and the party that knew how to sell them. Ok, their ideas sucked, but Obama's comments were about the Republicans' ability to engage the American people. The Democrats have been moribund for years. Like him or not, agree with him or not, Barack Obama is a political party's mana from heaven. He's the kind of figure (like Reagan) a party can form itself around. The Republicans knew what they had with Reagan. The Democrats have allowed the shelf-life expired Clintons to pretty much destroy the party's star attraction.

I mentioned in the other post. After all is said and done, the Democrats had better start addressing foreign policy and national security in a sound, strong and intelligent manner. The Republicans will run on that exclusively, and all three of the Democrats seem awefully weak in that area. Joe biden got. These three don't. When push comes to shove, "can you keep me safe?" will matter greatly to most voters. The last thing we need is another 4 years' continuation of the Dick Cehey/George Bush disaster. The Democrats better step it up on that front or McCain will steamroll right over them in November.

  • What's poor Rev. Huckabee to do?

I hear there's some land available in Guyana.

  • explain to me again, why didn't anyone support Chris Dodd's bid for the nomination?

[Read the article: Will the Democratic presidential candidates adhere to their rhetoric?]

Barack Obama's message may be stirring, and John Edward's plea for the poverty stricken is certainly well-placed. Hillary Clinton's 35 years of experience doesn't do anything for me. But none of three are addressing the damage this administration has done to the constitution and the nation in any concrete way. We know George Bush has been a disaster. We don't need those three to tell us. We need them to take the lead and fight him. That's exactly what Sen. Dodd is doing.

Personally, I think we'll get some luke warm support from Obama and Edwards and some murky "yes, I mean no" from Clinton on t warrentless eavesdropping. Their timid (fearfull)responce will allow the Republicans to take the lead and own the issue (once again)no matter how wrongly.

Unfortunately, all I really see from the three Democratic candidates is typical whistle-stop campaign talk. Chris Dodd has been out front on these issues and took a true leadership roll, and the best we can hope is that the three Democrats running to be the President of the United States (the LEADER of the free world) will *ahem* support him.

  • President McCain

I can't begin to tell you how many people I've talked to (at work, at the gym, in the neighborhood...and I live in a very, very liberal area)who were planning on voting for a Deomcratic candidate, who are completely disgusted by George Bush, and want him swept out, who now say they'd definitely vote for John McCain over Hillary Clinton. She's toxic. The Clintons have shat in the Deomcratic Party's bed, and they pay for it in November.

The free-for-all that was the debate in south Carolina was striking not for its rancor, but for its almost complete lack of substance. As looney as the Republicans are, they know how to sharpen their message to a needle sharp point. Simplicity is waht captures people. The Deomcrats are now flying off all over the place. The Clintons have turned this into an ugly, dirty, vindictive campaign. It may get her the nomination, but its guaranteeing a stunning defeat in November.

  • A big finish

Well I have to say, it looks like he sure knew how to make his exit. From what they've shown so far, he makes a spectacular Joker.

  • Democrats on the committee -- including the two who voted to confirm Mukasey -- are now taking Perino up on the offer

[Read the article: Senators to Mukasey: It's time]

Honestly, wasn't the appropriate time to pin him down BEFORE they vored to confirm him?

    Interesting piece in The Nation:

    http://www.thenation.com/blogs/campaignmatters?pid=273806

Obama's MLK speech is huge on the internet nationally AND internationally. I don't agree with him on everything, and I wish this campaign had taken a different route where candidates presented THEIR views and policies not just swipes at their opponants'. We really do need to hear concrete statements from these people on foreign policy, national security, global warming, alternative energy, etc. But it is interesting that people are seeking out Obama's speech which was a very positive and forward thinking piece in great numbers. The MSM is forcing the sleazy Clinton circus down our throats 24 hours a day. Of course Obama might get testy...wouldn't you?

I saw Hillary Clinton on tv last night at a campaign appearance saying Obama was getting desperate. The smug, self-satisfied, vindictive look on her face was disgusting. I'd be curious to know how many people are logging on line to marvel over that performance? The ugly, mean-spirited tactics the clinton use will get her the nomination, but in the end it will come a disastrous price.

Barack Obama really could have been the Democrats Ronald Reagan figure, but the Clintons have made sure that won't happen. I have a feeling, in their hearts (if they even have them) the Clintons know she won't win in November, but I think they're hell-bent on making sure he doesn't either.

  • They’re creepy and twisted, in Hillary’s case bitter and twisted.

Honestly, after she get's pummeled in the general election and leaves the Democratic party in ruins, I can see those two six months later:

"Bill and Hillary you're the last team to arrive. I'm sorry to tell you, you've both been eliminated from the race."

  • I firmly believe that Hillary took Bill's counsel when she says she was "briefed." She has never elaborated on who briefed her. I believe Bill briefed her.

Here we go again. With Two You Eggroll. If Obama is confused as to who he's running against, I have to admit I am as well.

More and more Hillary Clinton comes across as nothing more than a ventriloquist's dummy sitting on her husbands lap.
