  • "I do think that being president is the chief executive officer, " {Clinton) said.

[Read the article: Betting little in Las Vegas]

I'm sure alot of people cringed when she said that.

  • Huckabee as VP

[Read the article: The 2008 presidential mash-up]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I could see McCain or Romney (gasp!) choosing Huckabee as their running mate. That would keep the Jesus kooks on board while without putting off the Wall St. Republicans. Huckabee as the Presidential nominee would of course be a joke, but he could be a formidable force on the ticket as vp.

The intons carry too much baggage, and their recent behavior (plus this sleazy lawsuit manuever in Nevada) is putting off alot of independants and Democrats. That she only got 55% of the vote uncontested in Michigan is chilling. Obama or Edwards would fare much better against any of the Republicans.

  • Constitution should be amended for Elvis

We should also move Christmas up two weeks to celebrate the birth of the real King.

If Huckabee gets the nomination I fully expect stigmata at one of the Presidential debates; locusts, frogs and boils plaguing the east and west coasts (and Chicago); casting devils out of Britney Spears and a miraculous curing of Bob Dole's whithered arm. Anything less would dissappoint me terribly...unless he simply speaks in tongues and plays with snakes on Meet the Press. That would be pretty cool, too.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Huckabee

Ok, can anyone picture the two of them doing the nasty...I mean really going at it grunting and slobbering and panting? I can't. Whenever I see any of these wack-job Christians they all look absolutely asexual. I think that's why they're obssessed with sex and gays in particular. They're resentfull and bitter of anyone who has an exciting sex life.

  • wave those flags proudly

[Read the article: Mike Huckabee's selective federalism]

I can't think of a nicer sight than Huckabee being greated by a sea of proudly waving Confederate flags as he campaigns through the south. I sure hope it happens.

  • Bill Clinton

    [Read the article: Nasty, again]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Wasn't exactly plying nice, himself. This ad from Obama is pretty mild especially since its in large part in answer to more of the Clintons' bs.

  • the truth be told...

[Read the article: The battle for Nevada]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Neither Clinton nor Obama stands a good chance of winning in November. If clinton is the nominee the Republicans will be energized beyond description, independants and quite a few Democrats sick of the Clinton psycho drama won't support her. If Obama is the nominee he will lose a considerable number of white Democratic votes (that's just the ugly truth no one likes to talk about).

The greatest irony: the vast majority of Americans want us out of Iraq, but we will elect a man who just said staying in Iraq for a century is ok with him. Neither clinton nor Obama will stand a chance against war hero McCain (who will be the Republican nominee). For all the talk of the strong field of Democrats running, the party put its eggs in the "historic" election basket and will end up with a candidate who will face nearly impossible odds.

I hope people are happy with things the way they are because we're looking at another 4 years of it.

  • The Clinton's Legacy

[Read the article: The battle for Nevada]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Whether or not Barack Obama could have or would have or should have won the nomination/general election is really irrelevant in a way. He was remarkable because he bridged the gap between race and in alot of ways across political spectrums at a time when we really need that. His win in the overwhelmingly white Iowa caucus was an electrifying surprise.

That the Clintons immediately launched an ugly race-baiting campaign is a true national tragedy. Nevada on so many levels, showed the results. Its sad that the Democratic Party, long seen as the more inclusive and tolerant,is now being torn to bits by racial strife. anyone who believes Hillary Clinton as the nominee will beable to miraculously salve these wounds is mistaken. She (they) will be a flash point for the divisions. The Republicans will capitalize on this to an astounding degree. Like the Viet Nam war tore the Democratic Party apart in 1968, race will tear it apart in 2008.

Barack Obama, whether you agree with him on every issue or not, was a figure the Democratic Party desperately needed to build upon. He was a political party's wet dream. In all honesty, the clintons probably damaged him beyond repair. He'll go back home and become governor of Illinios. An admired figure relegated to the sidelines.

Bill Clinton's antics in Nevada should prove to everyone the Democratic party needs to repair itself and move forward without the Clintons. Unfortunately, this will have to begin after Hillary Clinton loses in November.

  • It's the Islamo-fascists, stupid

[Read the article: The knives come out in South Carolina]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The Republicans will be running a 24 hour "they're coming to get us" campaign. We all know that. When steady and stalwart daddy John McCain tells us all in that calm and reasuring voice that the Islamo-fascists are out there, they want to kill us and he will keep us safe and warm you better believe that simple, clear and visceral message will resonate far more strongly than whichever Democrat is nominated going on and on about their murky, Byzantine healthcare plan that nobody will be able to fathom. I have been shocked that none of the Democratic debates and none of the Democratic candidates have addressed homeland security and real foreign policy in any meaningfull way. Joe Biden did but got zero traction.

"I like MLK better" "No, I like MLK better!" "My incomprehensible healthcare plan that will never wind its way through our bloated government is better than yours." "NO mine is better than yours." "I'm a woman." "Well I'm black."

    "I will keep you safe."

Like it or not, its a primal message that everyone understands and responds to. Its clear and its simple and it hits its target. The Democrats better start addressing the issue in a meaningfull and intelligent way or they'll go down in a Titanic defeat in November. So far, they're shrugging it off as "Oh those silly fear mongering Republicans." There's alot more to foreign policy than, "I'll pull all combat troops out of Iraq and say'Hi how are you?' to our enemies." Joe Biden got it. I don't think these three have a clue.

"I will keep you safe." That will put McCain in the White House.
