If Huckabee gets the nomination excpect an exceptionally vicious, ugly campaign from him. I'd be curious to see how he attempts to maintains his golly-gee, Gomer Pyle, Mr. Nice Guy routine. In that event, I hope whoever the Democratic nominee is will be able to resist being pulled into his vat of poison.
On one hand I fear a Huckabee nomination. I think the Christo-fascists would be charged up to an incredible degree. On the other, it just might scare enough people to get up off of their asses and VOTE. Too many people have been duped into the right wing Christian trap of intentionally divisive issues like same-sex marriage, and far too many people just sit on the side-lines bored.
...the streets were completely deserted. My father and I marched with Rev. King as he...practiced...for the next day. It was a wonderful experience. Just the three of us marching alone, knowing of the greatness to come. I'm sorry Martin isn't here to verify all of this, but it was truly a special moment. And on another note, I know you can't see it on the old Zapruder film, but it was I, Mitt Romney, who made that mad dash across the trunk of the car to retrieve the top of that poor man's head. I know it looks like Jackie, but it was me. Thank you, and Merry Christmas."
I guess its time to watch Nashville again and marvel at how current it is more than thirty years after its release.
Here we go again. Remember that guy we'd rather have a beer with, and who sounds "just as dumb as me"? Remember what happened when HE got elected...twice? Well folks, this one is even worse. Its amazing that after the last seven years and the horrific problems that have resulted, people are still more than ready to buy into this nonsence.
If Huckabee gets the nomination, watch for him to really crank up the doe-eyed dumbness...and watch for how many people eat it up.
Unfortunately, he's not a media created sensation. Mike Huckabee has as much substance as cotton candy, yet he's been deemed a good story, so suddenly he's the big news. The media can only be blamed so much, though. The public eats this stuff up eagerly. We elected George Bush twice and it was crystal clear that he had no business in that office.
If we end up with another disaster in the White House, the American People need to look in the mirror.
I find it odd that people can never give credit where credit is due, and look critically in a certain direction when appropriate. I'm no fan of Hillary Clinton, and I sincerely hope she doesn't get the nomination, but yesterday she handled herself very well and did look very statesman-like. Obama, on the other hand, just looked like he was avoiding landmines. Biden and Dodd, those two were standouts, and its a crime that they're not getting more attention. I've liked Richardson, but I must agree with Chris Dodd, the governor was very wrong yesterday.
The most apparent thing, however, is that ALL of the Democrats handled the situation much better than ALL of the Reublicans. The Democrats (excluding Obama) all weighed in on the situation in a fashon that showed each was ready to react to the situation, whether you personally agreed with them or not. The Republicans seemed divorced from reality. McCaine seemed slightly senile as he spoke...and he was by far the best of the Republican lot.
If she wants to get snide and personal, ok, fine with me. She's fair game. Peggy Noonan is a shrivelled, scrawny, mummified looking shrew with an irritatingly affected voice. She shouldn't be on tv. If I wanted to see that on my tv I'd watch Psycho.
...we know every news organization has it fired up and ready to go.
Is anyone suprised by Bhutto's assassination? they shouldn't be. It was just a matter of time. Everyone is talking about the candidates scrambeling to react and how well or badly they've done. Shouldn't they all have thought of this (among other possible "suprises") and have had polished responces ready?
Its the reason we're in the mess we're in, and it will be the reason we're in another mess. Biden, Dodd and Richardson. If the media had focused on those three and the public had put aside it love affair with surface sheen we would be seeing a campaign with substance. Hilary Clinton and Barak Obama are like two sides of the same coin...minted for naked ambition. Neither has the goods to be President. This article is not a hatchet job. Its just more of what makes Obama so troubling. He had a golden opportunity to build strong credentials. Biden did just that and not for the sake of running for President. His lackluster performance as State and US Senator is troubling. He wants to be President, nothing more. Change? How on earth can he bring about "change" when he seems incapable of actually doing any work besides promoting himself. My fear is that an Obama administration would be handed off to others (hmm, like Bush?). Clinton? Raw naked ambition. she feels she's owed the White House. Her administration would be a paranoid nightmare. Edwards, he talks a good game, but I can't help but think of The Music Man whenever is see him. Fighting the big corporations sounds good, but what does it really mean, how will he do it, with who's help? Granted, the three of them are light years better than any of the nut-cases running on the Republican. Its a shame that the democrats running who actually could have made a big difference are being ignored by the public and the media.
This article is completely legitimate and it highlights a huge problem with Barak Obama. It needs to be considered beyond his slick self-promotion.
