One thing I have noticed asa disturbing trend amongst conservatives and right wing Christians: an odd disregaurd for life. They're quite often cruel. this is the "morals" crowd, the "family values" group, the "values voters." I really question what their "values" and "morals" really are. You know "values" and "morals" are both meaningless words without qualifiers. Personally, I think their "values" stink.
I have know a number of arch conservative Christians who have exhibited horrible cruelty to animals. One bought a male betta for his fish tank. When the betta was agressive, he took it out and put it in a jar of nail polish remover. A couple I knew who were both very conservative christians srated feeding some kittens that were living in their alley. Kindess? Not quite. When the kittens were comfortable enough to come for the food, they poisined them. A woman I worked with who was very conservative christian laughed about a parrot her family had inherited from her uncle. The man had the bird for decades and loved it dearly. He died and left the parrot to this woman's family. They put the bird in the kitchen hoping the fumes from the stove would kill it. That didn't work. They put the bird in the basement by an open window hoping it freeze. that didn't work, so they put it in the garage and it didn't last too long in there. She though it was hysterical. I own two macaws, and can tell you how intelligent and loving those creatures are. I was appalled.
Romney. That was a case of an arrogant superior lout. It speaks volumes about his lack of good character. The Huckabee case is truly disturbing. There is something seriously wrong with his son, and that the Governor blocked the investigation tells us quite abit about Mr. Huckabee. My parents would have killed me. Remember this is the man who said angels carried his bullet to the deer when he was hunting.
There is a distrubing lack of respect for life with these people: their views on war, the death penalty, disrespect of animals, disrespect of the enviromnent. Yet we are constantly force-fed this notion of them as highly moral.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Guilliani and Thompson have not had an easy time when it comes to comments on their looks. George W. Bush has been relentlessly and famously likened to a chimp. Personal attacks on people's apperances are really unfortunate, but it happens all the time.
I do agree with many of the other letter writers. Its ironic that this article outreaged by the attack on Clinton's appearance concludes with a snide comment thrown at John Edwards (who was not involved at all).

I don't think she could have sounded any guiltier unless she had her lawyer say, "No comment" while she ran past with her coat pulled over her head.
My hope is that all of these scandles keep simmering untill after that glorious morning of January 20, 2009. then let the flood gates open with no hope of Presidential pardons.

How exactly does that work?
The voters may have given congress to the Democrats in 2006, but someone else is definitely wanking their chains. Should they hold congress and gain the White House in the 2008 elections I'll be very courious to hear what their excuses will be...and rest assured nothing will change.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]I still say the reason both of them shot straight to commanding leads in national polls was because of their marquee names. Both are for all practical purposes "celebrities." As the campaign heats up and the other candidates begin to become more familiar we're seeing Giuliani and Clinton's numbers fall (especially in the states where serious camgaigning is taking place). Both have a host of negatives that far outweigh their big names. Neither getting their parties nominations wouldn't suprise me in the least.

I'm beginning to worry that this kook could be trouble if St.Francis himself was the Democratic nominee. He'll be able to mobilize the Christian right to a frightening degree and bring along quite a few gullible voters who fall for his au-shucks routine. At this point, even if he got caught in a Motel 6 with a transexual hooker shoving a dildo up his butt the Christo-fascists would still rally around him. He hell-bent on putting Jesus in the White House, and that's all that matters to them.
Whoever the Democratic nominee may be will have a tough time trying to counter Huckabee should he be nominated.
