  • So...

[Read the article: Was Bill Clinton "opposed" to the Iraq war "from the beginning"?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

He pretty much kept talking untill he covered every conceivable angle. And there are still people who wonder why the Clintons aren't trusted.

Obama. No question on where he stood.

Edwards. He has strongly voiced his regret over the vote he cast.

Biden. He has addressed the issue of his vote as well.

Clinton. Who the fuck can tell where she stands. She's against the war...now. She's dodgy about bring the troops home. She refuses to address her vote to authorize force against Iraq in any meaningfull way (and then voted yes on Kyl/Lieberman).

Read "Barack Obama is hip to Margaret Mead" right here on Salon, and tell me if Hillary Clinton ever would have (or could have) said what Obama did. She would have double talked and dodged and said alot of words that didn't add up to much substance. I think Bill Clinton's magic is wearing very thin. The more we see of both clintons the more I'm convinced she won't get the nomination.

  • Flatblonde, amen

I was just getting ready to respond, and you pretty well covered it.

And as far as Obama having the luxury of not having to actually cast a vote...no, he had the luxury of not having to say anything. That he did in such a public and definite way is a credit to him.

Hillary clinton voted to grease George Bush's way into this catastrophe in Iraq. With the knowledge of where that lead us she then vote "yes" on Kyl/Lieberman. I have a vote as well, and she's not getting it.

  • so why even bother with a primary?

[Read the article: The GOP's loyalty oath]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The Republicans are becoming increasingly desperate, well, crazy. Watching Karl Rove tell Charlie Rose that the Bush administration was forced to invade Iraq against their wishes by congress was one of the most bizarre moments imaginable. Now this? They really are appealing to only the most dim-wittedly loyal. In the not too distant future the Republican Party will have to recreate its self from the ground up...or real, true Republicans will have to start their own party and leave this one to the snake handlers and End of Timers.

  • Who in their right mind would have sex with Rudy Giuliani?

[Read the article: Did New Yorkers pay for Giuliani's affair?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    That's the real question.

  • Like the Village People in 1980

[Read the article: The Snowman is the least of their worries]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I think the conservative fad is finally over. Remember that queasy feeling you'd get when you'd see the Village People or Kool and the Gang on tv when the bottom dropped out on disco? You'd look away kind of embarrassed for them. I had the same feeling last night. It was just sort of sad and pathetic.

We've lived through the "conservative is cool" period and now people have seen where its gotten us. Its over. There wasn't one person on that stage that didn't come off as a brain-dead kook, and the audience was no better. Think of all the very real and very profound problems this country is facing, and then imagine the moronic spectacle of anyone one of those guys in the general election. I don't think the rubes who still buy into them have the attion of the general population anymore.

  • "And I get that advice from Cofer Black, who is a person who was responsible for counterterrorism in the CIA for some 35 years."

[Read the article: Romney's man on waterboarding]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

To the average voter that name is meaningless. He was sending a clear message to Blackwater.

And I agree, McCaine deserves much credit for his reply.

  • "beginning to look a lot like" Obama has a character problem

[Read the article: Who's nervous now?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"character problem" is probably a universe the Clinton's should avoid. It certainly didn't take long for that old clinton magic to kick in. Been through that once before...no thanks to a second helping.

She may very well get beat by both Obama AND Edwards in Iowa.

  • People are starting to pay attention

[Read the article: Numbers of the Day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

For many months the media controlled the campaign, but now with the first primary caucus just a matter of weeks away people starting to pay attention and make their own judgements. People are tired and fed up and I think there is a real desire for movement in a new direction. Bill and Hillary, Part 2 isn't looking so desirable now. I think the constant media glow surrounding Hillary Clinton has really dimmed in alot of people's eyes. All the old Clinton BS is starting to bubble up, and people are turning their attention to the others.

I'm hoping Iowa NH send her reeling and we can focus on what the others have to offer. We know what the clintons have to offer, and personally, I can do without it again.

  • Mike Jones, Jeff Gannon...

[Read the article: Craig denies new gay sex allegations]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

both tops, hmmm. I guess its safe to assume "conservative" is the new term for bottom.

  • "But the role of the attorney general is to administer the laws with impartiality."

[Read the article: Waxman to Mukasey: Send Plame documents]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Yes, but the role of a political hack is completely different. We'll have to see which Mr. Mukasey is.

  • "The bottom line is this: for [the president's] strategy to succeed..."

[Read the article: NIE on Iran: No nuclear weapons program]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I think its safe to say that ship has sailed..

George Bush is a failure. A complete failure. He should finish out his waning days in office the way he started: on vacation clearing scrub and reading to school children.

This NIE on Iran has check-mated the administration on Iran. They'll leave office still screaming for the heat to be turned up and on and on, but this kills any grand plans to start dropping bombs. They have no international support, and the only national support is from the far right kooks. Cheney will have to find someone else to bom, and I think he's run out of time.

  • Obama scores again

[Read the article: Clinton on the attack]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Everytime she attacks, he counters in a calm and to the point manner and cuts her down at the ankles. She sounds completely desperate.

She's making herself look worse and worse. She's showing all the qualities that made so many people hate her during Bill Clinton's years in the White House...and wait until THAT one throws his two cents in.

    Obama/Edwards or Edwards/Obama, that's my guess.
