Chris Mathews

When he's a guest on Real Time with Bill Maher he's like a completely different person.

Obama and the young people. No doubt alot of young people are in Obama's thrall, but my hunch is not many of them will actually show up and vote.

Original article: Lou Dobbs for president?

He was on Larry King

He said none of the candidates running would be the next President, and that someone would emerge and win the election. When King asked who that could be, he demurred appropriately.

This campaign is already kind of a freak show. If he jumps in it would start to look like It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World.

If no one was told who the candidates were...

...and they were given a transcript of that debate with names blocked out then asked to vote accordingly, Joe Biden would be our next President.

I think it was pretty sad, and pretty illustrative of the probelms with our nation, that Biden had to say' "This is important. Let me finish" while giving a detailed, spot on ANSWER to an important question, yet Hillary clinton was given as much uninterrupted time as she wanted to expound on the rediculous "gender card" controversy as though it was The View not a debate.

I finally had to turn the channel when the post debate discussion was nothing but breathless Clinton, Clinton, Clinton, Clinton, Obama, Obama, Clinton, Clinton, Obama.

There were people on that stage addressing the issues with real, definative and sound answers. It wasn't Clinton, Obama or Edwards.

We get the leaders we deserve.

"Biden scores"

And he's been scoring pretty much everytime he opens his mouth, but no seems to pay any attention. Its a sad comment that this is really a vapid popularity contest between people who shouldn't be in the race to begin with.

while watching "Project Runway"

anyone who watched Project Runway probably had no trouble realizing "President Tim Gunn" would be the answer to alot of our problems.

Original article: I Like to Watch

Project Runway

I have to disagree with you on Project Runway. sure the people are by nature of that business a fairly eccentric bunch, but what sets that show apart is the quality of talent. I don't think most people watch to see trainwrecks. Its quite amazing to see what creative people can produce under such stressfull situations. Jay, Austin and Santino were far more than over the top characters. They were all immensely talented.

Its only the first episode. No one has ever really misbehaved in the first episode. Even wnedy Pepper and Santino were welbehaved in their first shows.

I don't mind a more professional cast this time. The designs will be stronger and it opens the door for a whole new psycho drama when some of them will have to wonder if they did the right thing coming on the show. Gigantic ego Rami (who is a pretty well known name) has already had the dreaded "mother of the bride" bomb dropped on him. Plenty of great characters as far as I can tell...and some very nicely done pieces in the first challange...which, by the way, didn't bother me. Telling a creative person to do whatever they want is often harder than giving them direction, and it did give us a good look at their design sensibilities.

Great start as far as I'm concerned.

No excuse for the treatment they're getting

Everutime I hear chris Dodd or Joe Biden in a debate or the rare occassion when an appearance or policy statement actually gets some glancing press coverage I'm left to wonder why these two candidates aren't fueling this campaign.I have heard nothing, NOTHING, of substance from the top three. John Edwards talks a good game, but I question whether there's much behind it. Hillar Clinton, dodgy, dishonest, political hack, keep her. Obama, empty suit. To me, he's just a media creation. Biden and Dodd both know what it really takes to turn things around and aren't afraid to lay in on the line...and both have the experience to back it up. And I think both could rise above the toxic partisan rancor we're mired in.

Imagine what might actually be accomplished with a biden/dodd or Dodd/Biden adminstration.

"trumpeting his leadership in the wake of 9/11 in campaign mailings to voters in Iowa and New Hampshire."

Well he can't very well trumpet the fact that he's a crook in his mailings, can he?

In John Kerry's defence

He certainly should have responded to the Swift Boat controversy much, much stronger than he did, but it ended up taking on a life of its own. Pretty early on it was clear that the accusations had no merit, but the media kept the story alive regardless. There was really very little Kerry could have done, to be honest. Look at the photoshopped picture of Kerry and Jane Fonda. That was revealed as a fraud almost instantly, however we saw that picture on every cable news show over and over and over. They always prefaced its appearance by saying it was a fake, but they presented it to the public none-the-less. By comparison, how many time did the media show the very realy photo of Donald Rumsfeld shaking Sadaam's hand when he brokered the deal for those weapons?

The media didn't give a shit whether there was merit to the Swift Boat accusations. They were hell-bent on tarring Kerry with it regardless. Honestly, at the time there was not much Kerry could have done. If he had fought it harder it would have been more relentlessly covered. He was fucked by the media on that one.

"He's a youthful guy. He looked terrific and full of energy in a flight suit."

Attack on marriage, indeed! After reading that quote I wouldn't be suprised to hear Williams announce his engagement to Anderson Cooper.

Original article: Obama edges up in Iowa

If Obama wins in Iowa...

...I expect a Rupelstilskin type melt-down from the Clintons.

Speak for yourself!! I'm working on my Twin Towers Jello mold right now.

"I had unknowingly passed along false information."

Bush, Cheney, Rove and Libby.

I think he should have assumed he was passing along false information.
