Original article: The Iran hawks

the most disturbing thing

Not a single vote has been cast in a primary, not a single cuacus held, yet its already a pre-ordained choice between Giuliani and Clinton. The door has been shut on the others and their views and positions. We've been told we can choose between candidates that are in my opinion two sides of the same unpleasant coin.

Original article: It was a joke (we think)

If Hillary Clinton gets the nomination...

and the Bush adminstration tried any way in hell to extend their shelf life she'd tear Bush and Cheney limb from limb and eat them. Nothing will stop her from getting what she sees as rightfully hers.

-- only this time for six years, not six months

Hmmm, so that would cover Hillary Clinton's first term.

Oh yeah, they caved.

Where's the constitutional ammendment banning gay marriage?

Both parties appeal to their bases to get votes. They still are, after all, encumbered by that annoying, antiquated thing called an election. Neither party ever follows through on anything they promise the people guaranteed to vote for them.

Democrats, Republicans, they're both beholden to the same financial sponsors...and it aint "the people." George Bush has dragged the Republican party down with him. Its the Democrats turn. Defence contractors, AIPAC, the big drug companies, they've all lavished money on the most connected, biggest insider, most easily bought player in the game: Hillary Clinton. Rudy is fill the same role Bob Dole played when he was thrown in front of her husband.

January 2009 it will be business as usual with the same people dying, the same people being ground down further, the same antagonistic foreign and environmental policy...and the same people making a fortune.

You can express your support for his announcement here

I will also be expressing my support for him at polling place.

Have I missed the primaries?

Why are we being force fed these two? Obviously its been decided somewhere that Clinton and Giuliani will be the unfortunate choice presented to us.

Original article: War or Whac-a-Mole?

By suppressing Sunni groups like al-Qaida in Iraq, U.S. forces have shifted the balance of power in favor of the Shia.

So that's why we haven't eliminated Osama. In a year or so we'll be backing him to fight the Shia militia (instead of the Soviets like the last time).

marriage

Apparently there is not alot of marital succuss amongst the Republican candidats. Isntead of asking about same sex marriages, maybe they should be asked why heterosexual marriage is in such trouble and why their own own marriages failed. That might shed some light on this troubling issue of marriages.

Original article: "Thank you, Florida"

"We'd be in a lot worse shape, I think, with Al Gore."

I'd like specific conjectures on that one. I wish someone had followed up with the logical question: "How on earth could things be any worse?!"

Blackwater: George Bush's legacy

Its clear that Blackwater is nothing more than the private military of the Republican Party. What happens when the Republicans realize they've created a monster and try to reign it in? Could we possibly see the day when there is armed conflict on our own soil?

I can't believe a fully armed private military opperating on american soil is even legal.

This country has seen some pretty dark days in its recent history (the JFK assassination, Viet Nam, Watergate), but the Bush presidency has ripped the very fabric of the nation. I thought it would take decades to repair the damage that has been done, but now I believe the America we had is dead, and where we will head in the future is anyone's guess. Don't expect the two party system to correct itself, its rotted to its core.

Hopefully most reasonable Americans

will step into the polling booth and think about how well "sticking with God" has served us over these past eight years.

We're about to be force fed Huckabee as the candidate you'd rather have a bbq with. Considering the type of bbq George Bush has served up I would suggest voters choose their next president based on his or her policy positions and plans for correcting the disastrous course the country is currently heading on. Frankly, aside from "all god all the time" and a daffiness that passes as "likeable" I don't see Huckabee presenting himself in any way that suggests inspired, competent or presidential.

Oh, he lost 600lbs. I guess that counts for something.

Yeah, but...

...who would you rather go to a bbq with?

Wednesday, October 24, 2007 05:54 AM

I contacted mine last week

I contacted Durbin and Obama as well as Reid and Clinton. Anyone who finds this important should keep a close eye on how each democratic senator reacts.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for anything of substance from either Clinton or Obama. My guess is she will turn and decide NOT to support Dodd, and Obama will pull his "didn't vote" trick...you know, he'll be too busy.

Wednesday, October 24, 2007 06:42 AM

Glenn, has John Eddwards weighed in?

I'd be curious to know what John Edwards' stand will be. Even though he is not a Senate mamber anymore, where he falls on the issue and how he expresses it is important.

IF Clinton and Obama decide to support Dodd it will be in the weakest fashion (remeber their cowardly midnight vote?).

As much as I admire Chris Dodd, I doubt he can gain enough national traction to really contend. More and more I'm thinking its time to line up behind John Edwards. At this point I have no interest in either Clinton or Obama. John Edwards coming out with a strong statement of support for Dodd's action on this FISA bill could very well seal the deal for me. He'll get my support financially and in the voting booth.

A waste of time

Trying to glean some sort of leadership or moral fortitude out of anything Clinton or Obama say is a waste of time. Both are "supporting" Dodd's actions with fingers crossed behind their backs. These two murky, meaningless statements are the most we'll get from them...unless senate Democrats flock to Dodd, then those two cowards will slink allong the baseboards and join in once its safe.

Right now the most important thing is to make sure neither of them gets the nomination.
