The November Elections
[Read the article: The nuclear countdown]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Am I the only one who wouldn't be surprised to find the Bush administration make some military move against Iran prior to the November elections? What better way to rally the people around their president and his party?

Don?
[Read the article: Heck of a job, Rummy, Vol. 2]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Was that Karl Rove's bright idea? "Mr. President, George, always refer to him as 'Don,' and as many times as you possibly can. It sounds so much more personal. People won't care how fucked everything is in Iraqif you make him sound like thier friend...and DON'T EVER mention Nixon!"

Where does the buck stop, anyway?
[Read the article: "I'm the decider"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Someone made this point posting a comment in War Room, and I've been thinking the same thing during this Rumsfeld controversy. Ultimately it George bush's responsibility and fault. I have a feeling Rumsfeld is being used as a lightening rod to deflect critical attention away from Bush and Cheney.
What would happen if "Don" resigned? Nothing would change. George Bush and Dick Cheney's war would procceed business as usual, but they wouldn't have the convenient sheild of the embattled and abrassive Rumsfeld. He's their sin eater, and he's not going anywhere.
I don't know if "Don" agreed to all of this or if he's been broadsided, but he's definitely being set up and groomed as the villain by the president and vice president to keep the stink of this catastrophy off of themselves.
George Bush is a coward. He sat for 8 minutes in a class room stunned like a deer in the headlights on 9/11 then hid. He strode onto the field to throw out the first pich surrounded by men in uniform to shield himself from boos. He's hiding behind his Secretary of Defence. I've said it before. He was pelted with eggs on the way in, and he'll be pelted with eggs on the way out.

Ithe writing on the wall?
[Read the article: The story behind Rove's new role?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]When I first read of Karl Rove's demotion (diminished role, dropping the portfolio, whatever nicety anyone wants to attach to it, he's been demoted) I thought the Whitehouse was slowly giving themselves some distance in the event he's indicted.
I hope Rove does make the war on terror a central campaign issue, and I hope the Democrats respond by exposing it all as the lethal house of cards it is...and I really hope the Democrats make Karl Rove a central campaign issue and tar any Republican who even says "good morning" to him with a good coating of Rove's slime.

It could have worse
[Read the article: But thanks for writing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]At least she didn't have to explain her handwritten post script:
"PS -- please forgive the delay in responding, MUTHA FUCKA!"

Lost all credibility
[Read the article: If it's Snow, he's ready]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Bringing in a self-grandizing talk host posturing and preening and mugging for the cameras as Press Secretary is about as credible as giving the job to Joan Rivers. Day by day this adminstration is turning itself into a laughing stock.
-
help?
[Read the article: As Bush's poll numbers hit freezing, it's looking a lot like Snow]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]How much help can a grand-standing gas bag like Tony Snow be? So much that the Bush adminstration does smacks of cheap vaudeville that the addition of a pompous, self-absorbed talk show host is pretty much keeping in character.

Confused
[Read the article: The Fix]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]When was the last time angelina Jolie or Brad Pitt had what could reasonable called a hit? I seem to remember a pretty consistent string of flops. Whhy must their weird unpleasant lives be constantly pushed in our faces. They're not in the least bit interesting.
...and god bless Mick Jagger!

"Truth and illusion George. You don't know the difference."
[Read the article: "United 93"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Martha, Who's Afraid of Virginai Wolfe
There is an excellent article about this movie in today's New York times. Apparently many of the families are resentfull that several of the male passengers who attacked the hi jackers are getting the lion's share of attention. The daughter of an elderly female passenger wanted her mother to be presented as a hero as well. The director said he was able to re-imagine the scene where everyone was a hero. Typical Hollywood tripe.

He's not a target...
[Read the article: Rove lawyer: My client is not a target]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...until they slap him with an indictment.

WAY behind
[Read the article: We love it when a plan comes together]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"I think the American people are going to see a lot of technological development happen quickly"
Like the technology the Japanese are years ahead of us on? Honda and Toyota have both gotten clearence from the Japanese goverment to put hydrogen fuel cell cars into production. Where are the US auto makers on all of this? I'll tell you where. They're leasing hybrid technology from Toyota and they still don't have anything showing up in the showrooms.

Valley of the Dolls
[Read the article: Limbaugh's drug woes don't bother his Bush pals]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]After ingesting a truckload of pain killers does anyone really beieve he's just instantly cleaned himself up? I highly doubt it. I rarely wish ill on others, but in this case I can't wait until he takes that sad walk down Whitney Houston Lane.

The Sopranos hype
[Read the article: I Like to Watch]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Season one was magnificent, season two was great, after that the series nose-dived for me. It became annoying, tedious and precious. While tony was certainly the star, the first two season's each had a main character that defined the season (its themes and dynamics). Livia in season one, richie in season two. Tony was actually (thematically) a secondary character to those two people. After season two the focus was more on tony, his overwraught marriage, the increasingly unwatchable Meadow and a cast of cartoons to cause him problems. The lag between seasons also hurt the series. The hype became incredible while the show becomming weaker with each successive season. Now the characters seem as bored as I am. I think over all, Six Feet Under held up much better during its run. I saw those characters grow and change yet their essence was always retained...and they knew when it was time to move on, and gave it a wonderful finish.

Respect
[Read the article: Mission accomplished, three years later]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Personally, I would have lot more respect for Colin Powell had he resigned. Not only did he stay with this corrupt administration, but he went as their errand boy for that shamefull presentation to the UN. Now he's trying to salvage his reputation. He should have thought about his reputation before he hooked up with the likes of Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld.
