Original article: Al Gore, anyone?

Gore/Obama

That's what I'm predicting. Obama is running for the VP spot and too many people don't like Clinton. Gore will jump in after he's enjoyed the summer.

asked the vice president what Limbaugh's listeners could do to help the president

Who are his listeners anyway? Sure he still has a sizable audience, but by this point they're a cult not a movement. Does anyone really care about this bloward, drug-addled, limp-dicked creep anymore?

What did cheney really accomplish with this? Nothing. "what Limbaugh's listeners could do to help." His listeners are bitter, lazy, hatefull losers living out their mean-spirited, bigoted lives through a bombastic drug addict. They can't do anything.

Original article: The GOP's secret weapon?

Run Dick, run!

That would be a dream come true. Can't you hear Fox News on election night: "Vice President Cheney is trailing with 4% of the vote, but its still early. We should be getting numbers from California any minute."

Original article: "Grindhouse"

as filmmakers working at lightning speed dumped grotesque bits of their own psyche and obsessions onto the screen

Then I recommend Cannibal. German, shot in ten days...I've never been so disturbed by a movie before (and I've seen them all). It had me freaked out for days.

I'll probably see Grindhouse, but I think Tarrantino's bag of tricks may be about empty. It seems like he's repackaging pretty much the same thing over and over. We get it, he likes trashy old movies. I'd like to see him apply it to something new.

Original article: Day of reckoning

Put it to rest already

A magnificent first season, a very good second sean...then it fell off the table. Its been boring and contrived smarmy ever since. I've tried thinking maybe it will find its footing again, but each season just gets worse. And for its big swan song this first show was terrible. It went nowhere, and the whole concept just seemed gassed.

"I have a song I'd like to do for you"

Ok, when the asian chick said "I have a song I'd like to do for you." was I the only one hoping she'd sing the Mothra song?

If they're all 23 or 26 how did they all get high level executive positions (especially when they seem so stupid)?

Do they get to pick their own dress or is there someone who makes sure that all look bad?

He certainly didn't seem interested in any of them. I expected him to puff out his cheeks, blow out his breath and rais his eyebrows. He came close.

"Former United States secretaries of State Henry Kissinger, Gen. Alexander Haig, Lawrence Eagleburger and George Shultz"

For some odd reason I'm picturing the painting of the dogs playing poker.

a Stars and Stripes rug

Where did they get a stars and stripes rug? Linens n Things Baghdad?

Notice how we hear less and less about Iraq and the "War on Terrer" from Mr. Bush. By the time he leaves office he'll be virtually silent. He'll walk out of the White House without giving it a second thought. It will be someone else's problem

Def Imas Comedy Jam

I don't listen to Don Imas. I have no interest in listening to him, or talk radio in general. I don't know anyone who listens to him, either. Were his remarks tasteless and insulting? Certainly, but they were tame next to many things that pass as humor these days. I do find it ironic that comedy shows on HBO, in clubs, lyrics on rap cd's, etc. contain some of the vilest and ugly racist, homophobic and anti-women language imaginable. Where is Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton when a black comedian on HBO talks about hating gays and not wanting gays near him and then follows up with violent humor directed at homosexuals? Their self-righteousness is astounding.

Free speech. We have to live with the whole package . I can't count the times I'm personally insulted by some anti-gay remark at work, on the street, on public transportation, in stores, when I turn on the radio or tv, see a movie, go to a family function, on and on.

There is a big difference bewteen what Imas said and what constitures hate speech. You don't like what he said? Don't listen to his show. I don't.

Original article: In other words

I hope Cheney understands it...

...because this idiot has no idea what he's talking about. George Bush has always pulled off the macho bravdo when its the "Mission Accomplished" moment, or the "bullhorn" moment. IN OTHER WORDS, when its a manufactured piece of political theater. Whenever he is called upon to articulate a concept or r thought he flounders wildly like a drowning man. Cheney, the evil, mendacious old bastard, knows how to drive his point home with absolute clairity (even if its all ablatent pack of lies).

I don't believe for a moment George bush understands the realities of the situation, believes in the "doctrine" or even fathoms what exactly the "doctrine" is. He's a venal, greedy little son-of-a-bitch, and he's only concerned how much he'll pocket...and I bet it will be plenty.

The "doctrine" from the get go has been about oil, crony contractors and lots of cash.

When they meet...

...will he be sitting in Cheney's lap?

I'm tired of apologies

Tommy Thompson's remark wasn't that bad or that offensive.

Don Imus' remark paled in comparison to what you hear on Russell Simmons' Def Poetry Jam or the bilge that routinely streams from Coulter and Limbaugh.

And now Bryan Ferry forced to apologize for absolutely legitmate and intelligent remarks about the Nazis' incredible use of presentation (it was a big reason for their success after all).

Every morning when you wake up you have to assume something will offend you in some way. Grow up, get over it and go about your day.

These three examples were harmeless, but far more harmful as more blows to free speech. From now on, I don't apologize for anything I may say, and I don't expect an apology from anyone else.

TimLehnerer

There are degrees of "wrong." None of the examples I cited (that all required bowing and scraping apologies) were done with malice or hostility. Imas made a comment using language that is unfortunately in the common lexicon now. Thompson made an innocent remark, and Ferry made an appropriate observation.

I am offended everyday by remarks I hear at work, on the street, on the radio and tv, in movies, on public transportation... I consider the source and move on. I'll be the first to rail against true hate speech, but I truely believe things have gotten completely out of hand.
