  • re: RichEmery has asked a question I've also had for a while

[Read the article: Well, you know, my kid had her purse stolen in Buenos Aires]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I think people tend NOT to understand the whole "George Bush is someone I'd lake to have a beer with" thing. People tend to interpret that as "He's a nice guy." I think it really speaks volumes about the society we now live in: it's mean-spirited, resentful, bitter and callouse. George Bush personifies the unpleasant state of our society perfectly.

"How's your boy?" there's something snide and disrespectful about that, its not friendly or "down-home" regular guy.

  • I hope...

[Read the article: Did Maliki tell Bush to cool his heels?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Mr. Bush appreciates how Nicole Richie feels right about now with Paris and Britney new bestest friends.

  • the only question that really matters is whether George W. Bush is willing to embrace any course other than the one he's already on

[Read the article: Can Bush change course? It's the question Baker won't answer]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I think the main problem is...he isn't on a course. Can anyone honestly say what exactly we're doing there at this point? the situation is stagnant, and Bush is just treading water until he can pass the problem along to the next president. He seems coompletely removed from the situation (intellectually and emotionally).

  • better luck next time Jennifer

    K-Fed's available.

  • The day you first announce your pregnancy to the world will probably be the longest you have experienced since you were outed by the Democratic presidential candidate.

[Read the article: What Mary Cheney should expect while she's expecting]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Wrong. Mary Cheney has been a professional lesbian for years from her time working for Coors to her work on her father's campaign.

For the past few election cycles innitiatives banning same-sex marriage has appeared in some form all across the country. Some also included barring civil unions and others go as far as banning any leagal arrangement that approxomates any benefit of marraige.

Of course this self-serving piece of shit doesn't have to worry about any of that. Her corrupt father will make sure she has all of the advantages being denied to others.

I sincerely hope the gay community shuns Ms Cheney as the despicable pariah she is.

  • And for the person who brought up Mathew Shepard. Calm down. I highly doubt Foley and Haggard would support such acts.

[Read the article: What Mary Cheney should expect while she's expecting]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

But how many of the people who Ted Haggard and his ilk preach to would support such acts? That's the heart of the issue. Certainly Ted Haggard never stood before his congregation and incited violent acts, but his message of hate and intollerance hit its mark. Before these past elections I heard rural Christian voters interviewed about the issues they found most important. One "Christian" woman said she "seethed" whenever she even thought about gays. Certainly Dick cheney, Mary Cheney, Ted Haggard. Mark Foley. etc don't "support such acts", but to be honest, the crowd they pander to probably don't see it that way.

  • Good for who?

    [Read the article: Obama's magic]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

From Obama's stand point he'd be crazy not to run in 08. His star is rising and if he waits he'll have lost the moment and be just another senator. I voted for him, but I can't say I'm terribly impressed with his performance. I'm still not sure what he thinks about anything. He has mastered the art of double-talk flawlessly. His stand on same sex marriage is as baffeling as it is bizarre. I'm also gravely concerned with his shameless pandering to the Religious Right. That crowd has unleashed enough trouble. We certainly don't need a self described "progressive" kissing thier bigoted asses. And while the Senator's background is an enchanting story its no more so than anyone else's. Its not enough to hand him the keys to the White House.

I hope Mr. Obama flames out early and candidates who really have something substansive to offer the nation (Wesley Clark, Al Gore are you listening?) step to the forefront.

Maybe Obama does have charisma and beguiled his audience of 155. Well Bono beguiles audiences of 40,000 on a nightly basis...and I KNOW exactly where he stands on issues.

  • He'll announce his plans...

[Read the article: Don't rush him. He's listening]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

...as soon as the Saudis tell him what those plans are.

  • "Success"

[Read the article: Johnson in critical condition after brain surgery]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

My mother suffered the same thing. Her surgery was successful as was her rehab. The result of the "success"? She spent five years as a complete invalid in a nursing home before she passed away.

What many of these medical experts and doctors consider "success" is quite different from what most people would consider "success."

For Sen. Johnson's sake, more so than for the Senate's, I hope his bleed was not as massive as my mother's. I hope for him a full recovery.

"he allegedly tried to milk Ono for $2 million by threatening to share "embarrassing photos of her" he'd collected over the years."

We've all seen the Two Virgins album cover. What on earth could be more embarrassing than that?!

  • sleeping well

[Read the article: Bush plan: Sleep well, send more troops?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Johnson will be forever villified for Viet Nam. One of the most enduring images on President Johnson is the photo of him in his robe and pajamas in the middle of the night reviewing events taking place in the war. That war will rightfully dictate how history remembers him, but at least he was emotionally involved and had some sort of consience about it.

This fool sets the world on fire, and sleeps just fine. I shudder to think how history will remember him.

  • President Lou Reed

[Read the article: Mary Cheney for president]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    I like that.

  • Suprise

[Read the article: Gates in Baghdad]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

These people make more suprise appearances than Bob Hope walking onto the Tonight Show.

Its funny how the Adminstration seems to couch these suprise visits as a good thing when, in fact, they're just very graphic illustrations of the complete failure Iraq is.

  • Ebonius, Happy Holidays to you, too

You're also one of the names I look forward to read posts from....and look forward to a new year of more of them.

  • Whack job (pun intended)

[Read the article: Sexless and loving it]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I've always thought anyone who jumps from one self-destructive extreme to another (and religion is very often very self-destructive)has serious problems that go far beyond the manifestation of those problems whether it be sex, drugs, liquor, food...

She certainly doesn't sound happy or content by any means. She'll binge on Jesus for a while then turn to gin.
