Traditional Values Coalition chairman Louis Sheldon -- a frequent White House visitor with close ties to both Karl Rove and Ken Mehlman
[Read the article: Traditional values? Hastert flip-flops on Foley, again]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hmm, am I the only one who finds that odd? Louis' ties can't be all that close to Ken Mehlman if he said:
the GOP "needs to discuss how it should deal with homosexuals inside the leadership of the party ... As radical homosexuals have been welcomed into 'the big tent,' it has become a less welcoming place for religious conservatives and a dark and dangerous place for children ... Republicans need to make a simple choice between the innocent children and radical homosexuals who prey on them."
Oh that's right, Mehlman is just a self-loathing, pathetic closet case, not a radical homosexual.

ask him about this...
[Read the article: Bush on Iraq: "I made my choice"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...the gigantic embassy compound that will be like a fortressed city were building there (and paying billions of dollars for). Why does no ask him what the purpose of that is?
This has been about oil from the get-go. Anyone that thinks otherwise is foolish.
Present troop levels untill 2010? So this will limp along spinning its wheel for at least three more years? We have enough troops there to make sure nothing happens to the building of that embassy. this has nothing to do with terrorists, democracy or fighting them there.

If the Republicans are all such wonderful, true, devout Christians
[Read the article: Two bad heartbeats away from the presidency]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]then why doesn't Jesus himself come down and help them through these troubled times? At the very least, the Blessed Virgin could appear on a wall or tortilla or expressway underpass (wherever she's been fond of appearing) to offer some guidance.
They're all nuts. I hope this story and those almost surreal pictures get plenty of attention just so the public will realize just how removed from reality these people are.

"None of Bush's rhetorical tricks are working anymore."
[Read the article: Progress in Iraq? Military says violence in Baghdad at "all-time high"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I wish you were right. The other night I saw a piece on the upcoming elections. Of course it centered on Republican voters. Across all econimic lines they were still in his thrall. When an upper middle class woman and her twentyone year old son were interviewed they both blindly repeated the incoherent nonsence Bush had spouted earlier. And finished with "When he says something he means it. I like the way things are going."
It sounds crazy to us, but all this bullshit plays very well right where they need it to play.

The One Hundred and Twenty Days of Sodam...
[Read the article: GOP congressman: Abu Ghraib was just a "sex ring"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...just a sex ring.

"maybe even bombings of the North Korean and/or Iranian reactors"
[Read the article: The midterm elections: The GOP's Iraq, or Florida revisited?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]That might be the October suprise. The November suprise might be China's responce.

Teetering on an ever smaller base?
[Read the article: The long reach of the "gay cabal"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Of course this will all play very well with the Christain extremists, but the ugliness will eventually begin to disturb the great majority of the public. Let's face it, most gays don't hide these days. We're out to our family, friends, co-workers. These relentless assaults aren't just attacking a concept anymore. They're attacking someone's son, brother, daughter, aunt, best friend, co-worker, boss, neighbor. It's beginning to hit ever closer to home and getting more personal.
That Condi matter-of-factly said "mother-in-law" in reference to gay partners, and a Bush judicial appointee may have presided over a symbolic commitment ceremony certainly illustrates the hypocrisy of the Bush administration...but it also illustrates how the extreme christain right is becoming more marginalized and out of touch with the real world.
If the Democrats manage to wrest control back of the House and/or Senate in November it may be a first step in n the process where Republicans can begin to reclaim their party.

Joe Lieberman
[Read the article: Is DeWine history? Has Harris been vindicated? Was Allen p.c.?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Can someone explain that situation to me? It defies reason.

I just hope...
[Read the article: Rick Santorum and the "Eye of Mordor"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...Rick Santorum walks out to make his concession speech in a Star Trek costume.

here's the reason why
[Read the article: Bogged down on earth, Bush looks to the heavens]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"the tone is different everywhere.
i visited the WW2 war memorial in DC. it's attributed to GWB administration. it has beautiful layout, statues, and carvings. but if you read the quotes, it seemed as if most inscriptions praised the glory of the battle and sword -- rather than a subtler message of good over evil, ending the Holocaust, etc."
George Bush has a 3 inch dick. The creepy swagger, "bring it on," war-mongering, freaky identification with all things military although he took the coward's way out, snivelling bully attitude, advocate of humiliation and torture. 3 inch dick, we're at the mercy of an under-endowed man who isn't very bright.
That's the only reasonable explination that ties all of this mess together.

No men will be allowed to partake of the, er, services offered at the stud farm
[Read the article: Mike Tyson: "No. 1 stud"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]She'll change her tune about that pretty quickly when she discovers there aren't that many women (despite what we see on the CSI and Law and Order shows) looking to purchase that sort of service.
-
the context
[Read the article: Jim Webb on "towel-heads and rednecks"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Clearly, he wasn't calling anyone or any group "towel heads." He was referring to the treatment and attitude directed towards a group of people. That is much different than Allen's use of racial slurs.
He has nothing to explain or excuse.

no problem
[Read the article: Design of the times]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Is it a show designed to discover new talent, as it claims, or to simply elevate experienced designers who can't snag seed money from LVMH on their own?"
They've had professional designers from the get go (season one: Kara Saun, Wendy Pepper, Kevin. season two: Nick, Zulema).
I certainly don't think Laura was a plant. I DO think she was a smug, self entitled old hag. As far as the final scandal goes. If an accusation is made, even a frivilous one, I'm sure they have to address it to cover themselves legally. Tim Gunn dismissed it in the first minutes of the finale with no room for further discussion. I had no problems with the season at all. Good and correct choice for the winner, as well.

Yo momma
[Read the article: Design of the times]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]She's an old hag. There's nothing I can do about her age or gender. She was mean-spirited and self-important from the get go.

it will work
[Read the article: GOP to voters: 9/11 will seem like nothing if the Democrats win]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Mark my words. There is a huge segnment of the population that will fall for this everytime. They're like the citizens of Emerald City running in panic to the idiotic Wizard when the Wicked Witch flies over.
The Democrats miscalculated yet again. They should have immediately tied all of the Republican scandals and failures up with a big guady bow that said this is all making us much, much less safe. Now they will be once again put into a defensive position. You think they would have learned.
