  • a recurring theme

[Read the article: Foley fallout: Snow spins, Republicans scramble as more messages emerge]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"Hastert initially said that he knew nothing about the messages; now his office says that he doesn't remember a conversation with Reynolds but doesn't have any reason to doubt Reynolds' claim that one occurred."

Condi doesn't recall being warned of the threat of a terrorist attack. Have you noticed selective memory is very popular with this bunch?

Has anyone read the transcript of Foley's IM exchange with the page? It is pretty explicit....mostly on the part of the young man who seemed fairly eager to participate. 15, 16, 17, that's not a child. Certainly young people of that age should not be preyed upon or bothered by adults, but THEY'RE OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER! If this young man (17)could hold a lengthy chat with Foley describing in detail how he masterbates and the size of his penis (7 1/2 inches, by the way, but aren't they all?) I bring up the size question because the page's "dimensions" had been measured during a previous chat with Foley.

Foley is a creep, but I have to think some of his "victims" were no better. It seems like word got out and this sad, self-loathing closet case was an easy mark.

Maybe I'm harsh, but if a congressman sends a sexually explicit message then tell your parent, tell your supervisor and block him...DON'T MEASURE YOUR PENIS...THEN CHAT WITH HIM AGAIN!

  • Rice said that her "staff is checking to see if there is any record of the July 10, 2001, meeting."

  • ENOUGH!!

Ok, he's a creep. But this "child" was 17. 17! About to turn 18! That young man knew exactly what he was doing.

Indeed Foley should be held accountable, but this is NOT a victim. The whole thing is sad and depressing. I'm sick of hearing about it.

  • What are you talking about? Every media report I've read says he was 16

[Read the article: ABC: Foley solicited date with page]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

In one of their other chats (there have been more than one between them) he says he'll be 18 in February.

This is not someone who was "uncomfortable." I'm sorry. Foley is a creep, but my opinion of the victims in this case isn't much higher.

A young man who is uncomfortable with the advances of a 52 year old would not measure his penis, give a graphic description of his masterbatory techniques and arrange meetings. If you want to call a nearly 18 year ild inocent in a case like this, so be it. I won't.

How long before these "victims" start turning up infront of any camera that points their way. Why did these guys indulge this pathetic closet-case? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ You can bet on it.

I wish this relentless attention was being given to that deceitfull harpie trying to lie her way out of Woodward's revelations.

I don't think we send people to Washington to get sucked off by fat little interns or pine for 17 year olds with 7 1/2 inches. Its all disgracefull. That the very people who screeched and screamed "its just a blow job" because people were screeching relentelssly over that blow job are now rabid over this sad and seedy story is telling.

You're right, it probably needs to be done, but it all makes me sick...from any angle. Too many real, serious and profound issues. this is just a non event to me.

A friend of mine worked in the federal government for years, and ended up with a pretty high job. In the 80's when we had the last "page scandal" we asked him about it. He made a sour face, waved us off and said, "They call them pages because they can't call them escorts. What do you think they're there for?" Its a dirty depressing town.

  • I don't remember any such meeting. Oh THAT meeting. It was nothing.

When will the word "liar" be officially employed when dealing with this administration? No matter how many revelations and obominations float to the surface over the disaster of their policies, they are still treated with such kid gloves. Call her what she is: a liar.

Or does anyone else have the feeling this inocent "child" had a group of friends with him laughing all the while that sorry old fool was getting his rocks off on-line?

"Families have every right to expect that when they send their children to be a congressional page in Washington, ... those children will be safe." Bush

Why should families expect that when they're sending their children to a town infested with prostitutes and hustlers, accomodating interns and leeches of all sorts all there to survice a group of scum (aka our elected officials)known for alcoholism, drug abuse and sexual malfeasance? If it were me, I'd keep my kids home.

  • OUT THEM ALL...

    ...from now until November.

There is an interesting story in the Washington Post today. Foley's homosexuality was more than just a well-kept secret. He actually brought his partenr (a doctor, no less) to certain functions. His sexuality wasn't a "secret." So why didn't it matter? Because his record on gay issues isn't good. Who cares if he's a fag as long as his votes show an anti-gay bias. I find him MUCH more despicable for that than for being and old moron.

Start with Ken Melman and out every last one of the self-loathing hypocrytes from now until the election.
