But this was tried last year during the election, and the media tried it darndest to foster it. "Obama's white probelm", remember. Well in the end he handed the mighty clinton's their asses and then we heard again about "Obama's white problem" during the general election campaign...and in the end he burried John McCain. He didn't win in a squeaker or in a fluke or by cheating or in a three way split. He won handily across all demographics, and there was a nationwide sense of thrill afterwards.
Obama has a white trash problem. These people are jokes, but they're dangerous. Obama as the Joker, Obama as Hitler...this bullshit resonates with the white trash racist crowd. ITs not going mainstream I blame the media for breathlessly lavishing attention on these idiots that far, far exceeds their reach or importance.
THe majority of people in this country are concerned about healthcare. They're terrified they might get sick and go bust even with insurance. They want something done. Frankly they don't care about some stringy white trash bitch screeching "What happened to MY country."
Don't bet on it. the thing they fear most is death. I think that's the basis of their over the top come-to-Jesus-faith...in the deepest pit of their hearts they know that this is all there is and they're terrified of the thought. Same reason why their MO is to simply scream over everyone so no one can be heard: they know the other person is right.
They won't kill themselves. They'll kill someone else.
I've been saying the same thing. And I'll never forget when people were being interviewed entering a Sarah Palin rally two young women were asked if Obama was a terrorist. After ignoring the interviewer for a bit, one turned and said, "YES! YES, he's a terrorist." Her friend, dressed all in dark, smiled and said, "It's all in the blood line." Who the hell uses ther term "bloodline" unless you're talking about dogs or horses? The neo-nazi crowd, that's who...and that's who was beginning to sniff around.
The Republicans are playing with fire. Persoanlly, I think the vast majority of Americans are ashamed and appalled by this poisonous circus. The end result may very well be the end of the Republicans as a national party.
It's stagnant. It's not moving beyond the older white racist demographic. Unfortunately, I think someone will end up getting hurt or worse. That may be what it takes for Americans to say "enough." Right now we're being held hostage by a fringe group and a media that is hell-bent on propping them up and shoving them in our faces. I think they're getting an amount of attention that far, far exceeds their reach or importance. That's encouraging them and it's making them more overheated and extreme. There's another timothy McVeigh lurking in there somewhere. When something hideous does happen who will be held accountable? The rabble-rousing right wing entertainers, the Republican politicians smirking and nodding on the side-lines or the corporations and lobbyists organizing these events? I can tell you it will be none of them. We'll be treated to a 24 hour a day barage of media time devoted to "How could this have happened?" and "What made (insert name) do this?"
That scrawny blond screeching "What happened to MY country?" id the poster child for this. The night Obama was nominated, election night, the inauguration (they put it on all over the office and the entire place watched and cheered when he took the oath, including the head of the company)...there was real excitement and enthusiasm across this country and tremendous good will from abroad. Now to see this fringe group of bigots splashed across the tv night after night is a national disgrace.
We need to remember the lesson of this past election night and think about how far this nation has come. Being bullied by a handful of bigots shouldn't tolerated no matter how infatuated the media is by them.
I can't think of anyone better. She'd be nice to everyone, she would bound out her chair and be up on that stage to give a helpful demonstration at least once a show, she'd be a little drunk and she's the biggest ham in show business...Simaon wouldn't stand a chance against her. The twitching and giggling, the gyrations and big black sparkly tops, by mid season it would be renamed Liza Minelli's American Idol. She would bring a level of weirdness that would make even me watch.
First of all I think people should stop using the term "mob." Its not like hoards of people are turning out for these things. Its a pretty small groups of people. Notice how tv coverage frames the event to give the impression of more people than there really is. When the camera pulls back the "mob" is pretty thin.
Remember during the primaries we heard non-stop about Obama's "white problem." He stopped the Clinton juggernaut dead in its tracks. During the general election, once again, the hot topic was Obama's "white problem." He steamrolled right over McCain and the Republicans. His victory wasn't slim or a fluke. He won handily across the American spectrum. What Obama has is a "white trash problem." Look at the people showing up to these events. does that look like mainstream America to you?
The media's breathless devotion to covering every move these people make is misleading and doing a disservice. The attention skews reality and just encourages the behavior. This is a media created issue, nothing more. If they didn't get attention they'd go away.
Meanwhile, an intelligent debate about the real issues is left by the side of the curd to chase this paltry circus.
This story has been proved false over and over. If she's still spreading lies and slander with the use of fraudulent materials couldn't she, or shouldn't she, be in serious legal trouble?
