  • watch out

[Read the article: "It's unacceptable to think"]

Keith Olbermann will very soon be a major voice to be listened to. He's the only with any balls. Once he's paved the way we may start hearing more voice their honest opinions as well.

    Keep it up Mr. Olbermann.

  • Personally speaking

[Read the article: Divining the brain]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I would be very glad to get through one day, ONE DAY, without having to hear about God, Allah, Jesus, prayer, souls, spirits, heaven, hell, Judism, faith, church...any of it.

  • How does it end?

[Read the article: The GOP and the detainees: If this is a play, how does it end?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

There will be some deal reached. The Bush administration will get exactly what it wants, John McCaine will repair his standing with conservatives while maintaining his "macerick" aura and the Democrats will once again be left on the sidelines without even having lifted a finger to participate...then wonder why they lost in November.

  • Once the November elections are over...

[Read the article: George Allen damage control, or "macaca" meets the ham sandwich]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

...there still may be time to cast George Allen and Katherine Harris as a team on the next Amazing Race.

  • I told you so

[Read the article: The "scenic route" to torture]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I remarked on here last week that the outcome would be a deal that gave the administration exactly what it wanted and smooth over relations between John McCaine and conservative while maintaining his aura of a "maverick." Mission Accomplished.

The Democrats SHOULD have been everywhere this morning screaming about this, but once again, silence.

The moment Bush dots the last "i" on this legislation watch for an American seviceman to be captured in Iraq. Interrogation video to follow.

  • $$$$$

[Read the article: Battling Democrats' indifference]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

A week or two ago Barack Obama, with a straight face, made his presidential wannabe appearance in Iowa and said the Democrats need a strong unified message to present to voters in the upcomming election. Is he on another planet? The election is just a few short weeks away, and he drops that priceless pearl of wisdom now?

The Democrats are silent and useless because they're begging for scraps from the same people who are dolling out the big bucks to the Republicans. Its all about money, and it always will be. Not untill we can somehow pry lose these people who go to Washington, settle in for years and years and get fat and rich off of their "service" nothing will change. The only ideas the Democrats have are one that will keep cash flowing.

Americans are disatisfied, but none of these big issues are personally impacting great numbers of people.

The war in Iraq and the possible war with Iran wont really resonate with the American people until the draft is reinstated.

The torture issue won't sink in untill grisly videos of our soldiers being "interrogated." begin to surface.

The domestic spying issue won't matter untill it impacts the publics internet use.

The Democrats had the window opportunity to exploit all of these failings and abominations brought on by the President and the Republicans. If they did their cash cows would have disappeared, and that's what really matters.

Yes there is a feeling of unease and disastisfaction running through the country. but the Democrats have left us with no other choice than "stay the course".

  • I agree completely!

[Read the article: Revisiting GOP attacks on President Clinton]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"Perceptions that the American president is less interested in the global consequences than in taking any action that will enable him to hold onto power [are] a further demonstration that he has dangerously compromised himself in conducting the nation's affairs, and should be impeached."

Very true...and George Bush should be impeached, convicted and run out of office on a rail at the earliest posible convenience.

  • my vote

[Read the article: Democrats may come to regret not opposing Bush on torture]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If either of my Senators (Durbin, Obama) vote for this bill I will not vote for them in the future for ANY office.

  • well think of it this way

[Read the article: The intelligence report cites "leftist" groups as a terror threat]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Of course they'll target "leftist" groups. After all, the right wing terrorists have one. They're running the country.

  • Leaving?

[Read the article: Poll: Majority of Iraqis approve of attacks on U.S. troops]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I wonder what most Iraqis think of the fortress-city called an embassy we're buidling? If they think we have any intention of ever leaving they better guess again. The American public had better realize that, too.

  • why does this matter?

[Read the article: Woodward: Rice didn't get al-Qaida threat, ignored troop crisis in Iraq]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

So we're getting some more particulars and details of things we've known for a long time. The real story is that it STILL doesn't register with the American public at large. Now, Bush screeching one lie and distortion after another...that registers. That's our real problem, the willfull acceptance of lies by the American people.

  • I don't like this

[Read the article: The congressman and the page: Just creepy or "sick"?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

That's all I'll say. If there is proof of wrong doing or something inappropriate that's one thing. This just seems toxic to me.

I agree with the other letter writer. The Republicans should be sent packing for very legitimate sins against the nation. The opposition should not cover themselves in this sort of right-wing inspired muck.

  • I just don't get it

[Read the article: Congressman resigns over e-mails, explicit IM content]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    Was Jeff Gannon to expensive?

  • I have no pity for him

[Read the article: Foley pushed child porn bills, asked: "Do I make you a little horny?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Another hypocritical Republican creep exposed. Good ridence to him. May he symbolize the rot and corruption of the Republican party as we head into the fall elections.

But...I am, like a previous letter writer, somewhat alarmed that every news report on this singles out the fact that he contacted teenage males as though this makes his actions even more hideous. Even Democrats seem to be using the "gay factor" in an ugly way.

The irony of this whole thing isn't lost on me. This story breaks just about a week after one of the major news programs devoted a full hour to a sympathetic and sickeningly fawning interview with Debra LaFave, the female teacher who raped her students. A pedophile is a pedophile. Let's treat them ALL with the scorn and contempt they deserve.
