Patti Smith would drop kicked his ass right off the stage.

He's a professional jerk, and unfortunately it's possible to build a career around that.

But more disturbing is Taylor Swift. She's like a talent black hole, a talent void. I'm constantly mystified how these people find success when so many out there with actually ability and talent are left on sidelines. She was on Saturday Night Live a while back and it was painful to watch. Now, I'm one who always enjoys seeing our dear Liza turn up on something, croak out a song and try the old leg kick. At least Liza is weird, and at one time she did have an odd talent. But this one! I've seen her on other things since SNL and she's, well there really is no word, maybe anti-talented.

Original article: Finale recap: "True Blood"

let's be honest here...

Even Dark Shadows took several years to get this silly and that show was on every day.

"I love to suck on dick", how often do hear shit like that at a social gathering?

I'm going to a party Saturday night where I'll know hardly anyone there. Thank god I now have a conversation starter!

The Republicans can't win with white votes alone

And they've lost any hope of getting black or hispanic votes. My guess is that the drop in Obama's "white" support isn't all that accurate. Remember his "white problem" during the primay and general elections? These polls don't seem to reach the younger voters.

If the Republicans think they can go into 2012 running on a racist model they're in for a big surprise.

The media seems fixated on turning Obama into a one term failure. The excessive coverage of the birthers, the tea baggers, the toxic town hall meetings...how much press and air time does essentially a handful of malcontents merit? apparently, alot. But they're a fringe minority and my feeling is the majority of the country is probably annoyed by behavior of the media and their darling subjects. Cable News shows have set the agenda for what we see as "news, " and its become almost surreal. I think people are tuning out. THe ratings for those shows quite frankly aren't that big.

The Republicans are definitely trying to blacken up the President, but in the process they're staining themselves with a shame they won't be able to wash off. They're turning themselves into the southern racist, white supremacists and senile old people party. The media might be on board with that, but I don't think that reflects the country...and its not going to win elections.

I'm not sure why this is even news.

It should have had a brief shelf life of about ten minutes as a side bar to the President's address. Once again, an irrelevant side show being relentlessly promoted by the media instead of focusing on the real issue. Obama gave specifics in his address. That should be the focus of the discussion: what those specifics mean. Instead we get another just ad water and get an instant celebrity fixation.

And its not just fox News or talk radio. I don't watch cable news show regularly, but whenever I watch Countdown the vast majority of time is devoted to Olbermann rehashing and showing whatever drivel Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, etc, have said that day. MSNBC should just pay for rebroadcast rights to those shows. Rachel Maddow isn't as guilty, but much of her show is also obssessed with the right wing.

So like the tea baggers, the birthers, the deathers...we have another asshole being elevated to national prominence.

"I wish it had come two months ago, but at least we are finally here, and here looks pretty good tonight."

I don't think he could have delivered this speech two months ago. The Republicans had their playbook fired up and ready to go. If Obama had given this speech earlier it would have been buried in the right wing freakshow. Let's face it, the 15 minutes on that one is up. This gives the President the last word and he comes across as reasonable, well intentioned, informed and driven. I'm guessing things will move quickly now.

What I alos find interesting is the position Wilson has put the Republicans in. We're going to see a split between serious GOP politicians and the Limbaugh/Beck/Palin crowd over this one.

Last night the President rescued healthcare reform from the freakshow. The Republicans' antics failed. They really can't go back to the same thing now without looking completey idiotic.

He'll pose nude in Playgirl or Unzipped and make some money playing up to the gay boys. He'll make one of those Straight Guys for Gay Eyes porn videos banging some Sarah Palin look-a-like chick and his 15 minutes will be up. What else is going to do?

She won't vote for the public option AND she'll be replace by a Republican

So why doesn't she just do the right thing?

I wonder if a healthcare bill passed with a public option what percentage of people choosing that option would come from the rogues gallery of southern states who are so virulently against it? I bet a higher percentage than the rest of the country.

"Also, I still cannot undertand why left leaning personalities cannot get the ratings toehold that the conservative talk people get."

Because right wing and conservative radio talk shows and cable news shows are always negative. Even with arch conservatives ruling the roost for eight years all they did was bitch and shriek and play the victim over one thing or another. there is always someone out to get them. They play to a very paranoid, bitter, resentful, bigoted and probably not very bright audience that needs constant validation.

They sit in their cars driving home from work listening to venomous talk, seething over some imagined slight or "enemy." Then they sit in front of their tvs all evening for a second dose. They constantly need to be told they're right.

I don't think others (non-right wing conservatives) need to be pandered to or reassured they're better than everyone else.
