  • How it REALLY is with gun owners

[Read the article: Supreme Court gun ruling could backfire]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The hysterical anti's miss one definitive thing about the for/against people.

In almost every case, those who are vocal about the right to legally possess/carry a gun are those who are responsible citizens such as homeowners, business owners, family members, etc.

Like others here and elsewhere, I am a responsible home/business owner.

Aside from sometimes posting inanities, I'm serious minded and absolutely serious in my insistence upon my rights as an American citizen, the safety and pleasantness of my neighborhood, my own personal safety, the security of my home and of my neighbors' homes, the rrealization that a home invasion in my neighborhood is a rare occurence and that my insistence upon my right to protect myself is not something born of hysteria.

There is crime in Wausau, the small ciy in which I live.

I am exposed during my regular business activities and carry cash, expensive tools and equipment, etc.

I am well aware that police are AFTER THE FACT.

How often dooes anyone hear of the police being called PRIOR to a crime being committed?

And, what is their typical response to a call PRIOR to a crime.

Yes, nothing as, there is nothing they can actually do to prevent crime.

This is NOT a knock against the police, rather it is just a fact of life that the sorts of peop-le who are going to commit a crime are almost never prevented from doing so by the police.

If they are caught at all, it is AFTER the crime has been committed.

It is impossible for the police to alwqays know who is going to commit a crime.

They do not have a crystal ball.

Now, those of us who think clearly about life in America and our regular activities in living that life, know that our insistence upon self protection is not hysterical as, expecting to live a safe, happy and productive life is a reasonable expectation.

The actual hysteria is of those who do not understand who we actually are and what we are actually like as American citizens.

99.99% of those of us who are gun owners are like myself, just one of the work-a-day people in the neighborhood who mows his/her lawn, BBQ's, fishes, golfs, in friends with his/her neighbors, ad infinitum.

We are NOT those who run around in cammo and hold clandestine meetings based upon over emphasized imaginings/fears, etc.

Yes, there ARE some like that and, almost all of us everyday American citizen gun owners look upon them as crazies.

I have no interest in, nor do I trust any of these posee comitatii and, I look upon them as pretty much wackos. And, I AM A GUN OWNER.

I've read so much BS about this subject that I rarely take the time to write so eloquently about it as, it is frustrating because the actual hystericals CHOOSE to be that way about it and do not want to learn about us.

Also, have you ever wondered why it is that the hysterical anti's almost NEVER actually know anything about guns?

Oh, well. I have to go repair a microwave oven today and, after I go to the store, say hi to my neighbors and get ready to mow my lawn, I'll spend the afternoon watching sme LPGA and the Sox kicking azz on the Cubs again.

I will NOT be sitting in my window with my Remington 740 slide carbine in .308 at the ready because I am a gun nut.

    OK, next

just so much entertainment for me.

    I'm a 69Y/O man, YES, a MAN!

I remember a lot of things about being a kid.

Now, this was in the 50's.

For those of you who weren't there, it was a time when most people were conned into thinking the 50's were sexually uptight.HAHAHAHAHA!!

I was there. It was NOT.

What do you suppose life was like for a fairly good looking teenaged kid who drove a neat convertible with glass and/or steel packs was like?

Do you know that we had cheerleaders back then?

Do you know that they wore miniskirts?

What do you think the term "making out" meant?

Have you ever heard of forest preserves?

They had these neat parking places which seemed to be full of cars with their parking lights on.

It was better to leave the parking lights on as, the cops wouldn't be so anxious to bother you.

We always joked about "tail" lights.lol

Well, here I am in 2008 and haven't yet needed to use viagra, etc.

I still enjoy sex and am not blind so, I enjoy looking.

What HAS changed is what is/is not stimulating.

Back then, it was common to seek out a girl who "put out" with little if any other interesting "qualities'.

Even though I partook, I also actually DID have an interest in these "other" qualities.

As I aged(matured?), these "other" qualities became more and more interesting.

These qualities for me today are intelligence, humor, adventurous, self confidence, honesty(toward me and herself) and those qualities which are evident in a woman who truly respects herself.

Just getting a piece of ass is pretty damn boring to me and, those females of any age who flaunt their asses are extremely boring to me.

I don't give a damn how "hot" and/or "sexy" a woman is if she doesn't have what interests ME.

Although I don't drink and/or hang around bars, I see these females around here & there and, they typically don't like being ignored.

    What emptiness this is.

Ahh, screw it. I'm done as, none of this will make sense to those with an age3nda and CHOOSE to see it all differently.
