If we bailout car companies then the line of people with their hat in their hand will never end. Airlines, steel, chemicals, drugs and the homebuilders will all be lined up around the White House. And each of every single one of them should be allowed to fail for their failures. If that means 50% unemployment and the nationalization of every single industry in America then so be it.

The White House has been on cruise control for more than a year. I'd be shocked if Bush shows up to work 3 days a week.

Geithner is a banker. That's what bankers do. The Treasury secy has a entirely different role and scope of responsibilities. We really don't need two Fed Chairmen at the helm, do we? Also while Geithner may have spoken out in the past, in his role as NY Fed Gov, he has had a deep and wide role in this financial mess. He's lent his organization to offering up cheap almost free debt for years. THAT apparently didn't stick in his craw.

It does not matter what they believe. It matters what they can sell to 45-48% of the voters. Don't be shocked when/if the calls for Obama's impeachment start on January 21 and persist to the last day of his first term. Don't be shocked when/if GOP tactics make McCain's campaign look clean in comparison. You do realize you've just handed a Billion dollars to Fox and Hate Radio who will now spend every second of every minute of every hour of every day screaming that President Dredlock Osama is a Muslim communist terrorist who will smoke crack with Satan from pipes made of the bones of aborted white Christian children, don't you?
