So who is perfect that we can't deal with anyone else?

I want you to point out all the perfect countries that do everything wonderfully so that we can trade with them and ignore the rest. I for one am a little upset by the US's support of South Africa given their policies have murdered at least 50,000 AIDS victims.

Just tell me one thing

Is it chock full of that horrible handheld jittery crud, random zooms in and out and a general slavishness to the blair witch school of low-fi nonsense? Because I just walk out of movies with that. Which is about 97% of all movies now.

We should have a Pre President

Let Obama rule as President now. Except none of the laws are binding until the inauguration. He could rule unilaterally like Bush has for 8 years and that hasn't stopped anyone.

When will you realize that

in order to secure any measure of success in Afghanistan you will have to resort to exactly the same measures as the Shah of Iran did - e.g. jumpstart the country ahead 500 years by force. And he'll go down in history as the Great Evil of SW Asia. We should walk away from Afghanistan before it consumes us as it has consumed all other takers. If you want little girls to go to school, give them bus tickets to Pakistan or Indonesia.

Funny you should mention that

Because if PETA had their way all the research that lead directly to organ donation would have been stopped dead in its tracks. And I heartily approve of that. Not for silly religious reasons but because I think we should all die when its our time to die. No heroic efforts, no machines, no technology, nothing. So while I loathe the likes of Ingrid Newkirk, I do in fact support their efforts to unwind the civilization clock a few hundred or a thousand years. Most people don't get medical care anyway. We should end it all.

First off does anyone really care?

It's not as if the US is structurally capable of accomplishing anything other than vague well wishing and improving the moods of inane bloggers. What do you actually think the US can do? End all wars, feed the poor, invent time travel, discover a free limitless non-polluting source of power, cure all disease?

Seriously, Africa will still be a cesspool, Russia will still try to recover their empire and super power status, Iran will get the bomb, South America will still be squabbling, China will still be doing whatever it is China does....and so on. All you can hope for is what? Pull out all the troops from Iraq and cut the damn Jews loose in Israel? Ok there's a plan. Leave the middle east and let it implode on its own. Otherwise nothing is going to change.

Venezuela will still make noise while it tries to be a regional powerhouse. Brazil and Argentina will still have the same economic and social woes. Colombia will still be fighting narco terrorism. Cuba will still be Cuba. The undeclared civil war in Northern Mexico will go along like it has. Western Europe is in recession. North Africa is quiet. Central Africa will still be one big slaughterhouse. AIDS will still run wild all over Africa. Russia will gobble up the entire Caucuses and call it liberation........

Gee I could go on but who cares? I don't. I'd like to see the US END, literally end the entire operations of the State Department, rollup the carpets and leave the entirety of the rest of the world. No troops no aid no bother. Just let them all be.

She's wearing her hair down now

Hotter than ever. After her sex tape comes out on YouTube she'll be able to call the shots and be President in 2012.

In few years

Few people will remember or care what 911 was. Who remembers the beginning of WW2 or the Korean conflict or Tonkin Gulf? No one.

And for the record, what's wrong with electing a convicted felon?

If they can vote they can run unless and until someone passes a law to the contrary. What if Stevens was convicted of carrying 3oz of weed in some other state? Should he still be banned from holding elected office?

It's their church their issue

I thought we still nominally had freedom of speech here, particularly those views you may find objectionable.

Soulful

Is everyone else's 'boring'. The Boston Globe practically called it shit.

http://www.boston.com/ae/movies/articles/2008/11/14/action_reaction/

It might very well be shit. But if the NPRziods love it at least it will play well with the tweed jacket crowd.

You'd still be whining about Evil Joe Matzah Lieberman.

I'd not be too eager to be proud of Putin, just yet

His fingerprints and those of his government are all over almost a hundred assassinations of political opponents, journalists, ex spies. He tried to poison the leader of Ukraine, he killed an ex spy in London with Polonium. More than 20 investigative journalists have been machine gunned in the last 2 years.

I prefer the 12 Monkeys approach

Just get some infected blokes and fly them all over the world. The incubation periods for Tularemia or Brucellosis are sufficently long to allow for pandemic levels. Neither of them is remarkably fatal.

All those Hermes headscarfs, so little time

In the new old tradition of having a woman Sec State, I would invest heavily in companies that make designer Hijabs. I can just picture Hillary Clinton as pointwoman in Obama's new openness with Iran.

No time travel

I was expecting that after the invisible car they had to go with time travel, or teleportation. Nothing huge just 60 seconds into the past or future and maybe 100 yards teleportation at the most. But the new Bond is decidedly gadget light.

Democracy is being lead by the smartest of the dumb people

So in 4 years, the GOP will charge out screaming that the last 4 years were exactly as they predicted in 2008. Doesn't matter that it's not true. People, especially voting people don't want true. They want bread and circuses. Of course the GOP will come back. They came back from Watergate.

Recycling The Clinton era is a poor choice

They weren't all that successful no matter how Adam Sorokin-like they appear to be.
