  • Political weasel or politically practical

[Read the article: What Hillary Clinton should have known]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Poll-driven decisions are a politician's stock and trade...and whether Hillary is particularly more susceptible is debatable. One would have to wonder whether a senator from New York with great pressure from many quarters could refuse to authorize Bush's invasion without sustaining grievous political injury. I have played with this idea since Hillary voted on the issue. At the time I formally wrote her denouncing her vote. I am still disappointed but have come to accept her remarks about her decision as apology enough. Her campaign style is seductive but I remain an Edward's fan. Of course, I will vote for her if she becomes the candidate, but I would much rather the Democrats chose a candidate without so many issues swirling around her persona.

  • Americans are speaking up!

[Read the article: Why do journalists suddenly love Al Gore?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If Gore is wincing that he may become fodder for the media should he take another run at the White House, he may find that the media environment has changed. Bush's dismal failure has enraged Americans and we are less gullible and less willing to be quiet about it. Americans, disenchanted with the press, have taken it upon themselves to seek alternative news sources. Yes, some went to Fox, but those with a more liberal bent have become quite vocal in their disapproval of the present state of journalism and have turned to blogs, sites like Salon, and foreign news sources. And we don't mind at all writing the networks to tell them exactly what we think of them. CBSnews.com allows visitors to publish what they think on most articles. Sometimes I enjoy reading the reactions more than the original.

We get to express ourselves on Salon and CBS and this is absolutely wonderful!

  • Taste in humor

[Read the article: The Republican candidates -- and Ann Coulter -- try out their acts]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I think one can tell a great deal about the character of people through their taste in humor. Republican humor is savage, personal, class and race oriented, but worse than that, it is untrue. They were passing out band-aids mocking Kerry's war record at the Republican Convention in full view of the American people and obviously enjoying the joke. Never mind that their own candidates took deferments time and time again in the Vietnam War. Now they are calling Clinton white trash and Edwards a faggot. I suppose Edwards should be happy that Ann Coulter put him back in the news cycle. Even the Republicans were stunned but they managed to laugh anyway!

  • A slap in the face!

[Read the article: Hillary vs. Obama: It's a drawl!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Camille is absolutely irritating. All her talk about a liberal press is outlandish! Until it became abundantly clear that Bush's policies have lead this country in a disastrous direction, the so-called liberal press was full of talk about how likable he is, what a strong leader he makes, and how old Kerry is stiff and overly nuanced and how Al Gore is a crazy screaming man. This liberal press deliberately filtered its stories to protect George Bush in the run-up to the war. They didn't carry stories about the Downing Street memos or question the veracity of his WMD claims about Iraq. Camille seems to go out of her way to deliberately slap us in the face with Rush, Fox, and Coulter. Her contention that we should feel sorry for Bush enrages me!

Once a month is too much of Camille. Maybe once a year is a better idea, if that much!

  • Blood Lust

[Read the article: Shooting his mouth off]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Zumbo's troubles are rather pathetic. I can't imagine that hunters would defend the use of assault weapons and I guess now they'll all tote AK's and the lot in protest of Zumbo's statement. Considering Zumbo's about face, I'm not apt to feel any pity for him.

Hunting, in my book, is not a manly sport. I am disgusted by the blood lust involved. To enjoy taking a life, any life, is repugnant and that is what hunting is all about. I do not believe, for one minute, that most hunters actually go hunting to put food on the table. They go because they enjoy stalking and killing prey and this sickens me!

Kerry's hunting trip was embarrassing. I wish he hadn't done it.

  • Testifying under oath is dangerous

[Read the article: Rove, proven liar]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

When Congress starts issuing subpoenas and people go under oath, events can take a life of their own. One never knows what may come out or who is going to say what. Some questions will surely be asked about all the missing e-mails and up might pop the devil! Bush is scared...all the tepid comments about whether Alberto Gonzales is going to stay on at the beginning of this flap lead me to conclude there is something very ugly they are hiding.

Firing attorneys because they are not playing ball...because they have the scruples to refuse to pursue cases in order to influence the outcome of our elections is serious. We should all scream and holler and holler and scream some more!

  • Compromise is the only way to get out!

[Read the article: MoveOn moves in with Pelosi]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

MoveOn goals and tactics in Washington make sense to me and I am a member. I do not think that an immediate pull-out of Iraq is possible or even desirable. It takes time to disengage. This war has been a catastrophe for the Iraqi people. I, for one, think that we should pull out intelligently and, above all, humanely by helping the Iraqi's as much as possible to set up some semblance of a government which can govern. That may prove impossible, yes, but we must try in the remaining months to bring some stability for these people. America is responsible for the chaos over there...we simply can't walk away abruptly...nor will we for the simple fact that an immediate pullout will never be considered by this Congress. However, we must not overstay. I am okay with the deadline Nancy Pelosi achieved. Compromises must be made.
