The copycat media

The media have sunk so low...they have become so used to parroting each other, it is difficult not to suspect that they are colluding. It was apparent throughout Clinton's term and it was startling to watch it in play during Hillary's campaign.

Clinton (and Hillary) have been decimated by the press. I fail to see the sleaze these harpies write about. Clinton still has impact...he commands attention and his choice of words on any given subject is exquisite. Yes, women like him and they have thrown themselves at him shamelessly. Unfortunately, this man can be ensnared by a pretty face. As for money...I don't think he gives a flip about it except to run a campaign.

Yes, the media turned off a lot of people when Clinton was in office. I have little respect for them as a result and I no longer wear rose colored glasses as I read. In fact, I am still seething at the pettiness, viciousness and provincialism of the American news community. They have gone out of their way to earn our disrespect.

Two-faced to the core!

Lieberman always was a snake. This despicable man showed his colors years ago with Bill Clinton. Any hope that he would actually do something for the people was a delusion and the people of Connecticut who voted this rat in are as clueless as the American people who voted in Bush.

Media woo conservatives

The media go to a great deal of trouble to attract Fox viewers. They publish articles all the time designed to appeal to them in an effort to attract these people to their doorstep...it's a ratings thing. However, it doesn't do them much good. Fox viewers can't bear the facts and these other news sources are forced to print many stories which offend the right wing simply because they are news and can't be ignored. Because right wingers must have their ideology reinforced, whenever the media publish something they don't like, they scream and holler "liberal press." They go running to Fox which always gives them their conservative spin.

The press are not liberal...to me they seem like a fickle bunch of narcissistic, greedy vultures waiting to swoop on any little story especially if it has something to do with sex.

Hypocrites to the core

Good article...very informative but upsetting. It is looking more and more doubtful that we're going to get meaningful healthcare reform thanks to hypocrites like Lieberman and Bayh.

Caring about the rest of us

More and more people are taking their screaming kids into situations where adults have gone to relax and enjoy themselves. It is totally frustrating to try to eat a meal or fly on a plane with an unruly kid...and these children are not always infants...they are old enough to be managed if the parent should care just a little about the rest of us. Many grandparents are just as guilty, too. Children do become quieter if the parent expects it and sees to it. Those parents and grandparents who are so proud of their little tykes that they think the rest of the world don't mind are kidding themselves.

As for Southwest Airlines...I applaud their decision to evict the mother and child. Perhaps this parent has learned a lesson about maintaining control over her child which will not only spare the rest of the passengers but will make it imperative that this mother teach her child that the world does not revolve around him...a very valuable lesson which children must learn if they are to be a successful member of a social species!

The kiss of death!

As much as I would like to see a pro-choice abortion stipulation be a part of healthcare legislation, to include it at this time means certain defeat for healthcare reform. Perhaps if we do get reform, and that is a big "if," it can be added later on when our society is not in the grip of medieval thinking and religious fervor.

It is painful to realize that America has gone backward in its attitude about science. Huge numbers of Americans do not even believe in evolution. We have entered a dark age and I don't know when we are going to come out of it.

Original article: Hasta la Vista, Lou Dobbs

Goody!

Hurray for his exit...and I'm not a Latino. Dobbs was irritating and careless with his opinions. He is one of those anchors who likes the sound of his own voice paying little attention to fairness and journalistic integrity.

No end in sight

There will be no end to poverty. Capitalism, Marxism, the whole slew of isms, all result in the haves and the have nots because there will always be people who do not hesitate to exploit other human beings in one way or another. Christians, Muslims, and Hindus... in fact, the whole gamut of religions, also get into the act because false prophets profit from scamming the people. Even the witch doctor gets his piece of the action. To praise capitalism as some kind of benevolent force is a crock...nor is Marxism innocent because it has historically ended up in a repressive government, like the Soviet Union, China, Cuba, etc. Why this is so comes down to the fact that Utopian societies don't exist nor will they in the future. We have to take our pick, and I choose capitalism with all its imperfections because I stand a chance at getting a piece of the pie and I have a fair amount of freedom of action and speech. However, a system of capitalism peppered with socialism in areas where capitalism has failed, such as in healthcare delivery seems to be a good choice. Certainly, America has fallen short in many areas and we could do better.
