No experiments on children!

I think this is an interesting experiment but I wouldn't do it with a child of mine. Who knows what attitudes the infant will develop! H/s may feel deprived, perhaps end up feeling isolated and alienated, or worse yet, become a transvestite......not that I condone forcing a gender role down the throat of any toddler which in itself may lead to confusion about one's sexuality! My baby would not be a guinea pig.

Oblivious hypocrisy - how convenient!

Yes, please resign, Sanford! I'm so sick of all the charlatans in the Republican Party. How is that the right wingers who follow these pied pipers are blind to their shenanigans and refuse to call for their heads. Oh, yes, politics. But it is more than that. It is the inherent penchant for pointing the finger which is so sickening! They live in logic tight compartments where everything they do is okay but the rest of us have to abide by THEIR rules.

Accepting reality

No, Sarah. The media has been just as hard on Hillary as you. The difference lies in the fact that Hillary accepts reality and is willing to pay the price. Palin who can't take criticism should stay out of national politics where criticism is the name of the game, particularly for a woman.

Palin wants to be adored. When I think about her silly winks and tortured logic, I get disgusted all over again. I wish she would fade into oblivion. However, the media is going to follow wherever she goes and we're going to be deluged with stories about her for the foreseeable future.

Mundane world of Alaska

I think Palin quit because she got a taste of national politics and is no longer interested in suffering the mundane political atmosphere in Alaska...perhaps it is boring to her and she is sick of all the criticism. Not only that, she wants to be adored which her devotees are willing to do but they are too far away to soothe the unpleasantries associated with being an Alaska governor. So what does she do...she quits because it no longer interests her. These are some possible reason for stepping down which make sense to me. Whether she is a bad mommy or not does not interest me.

Original article: Sarah Palin, one tough mama

Maternal designation questionable

Is Sarah really very maternal? Perhaps the children were simply an excuse for quitting the goldfish bowl...it is also possible, and even probable, that Alaska was no longer fun and the obligation to constantly defend herself became a chore. Added to that, the McCain group kept leaking such unsavory stories about her...how dare those ingrates do that to their point guard! It is true I am not very fond of Palin and therefore, not very charitable, but I can't shake the feeling that motherhood had very little to do with her decision!

No easy answers in Afghanistan

Afghanistan should have been our priority in 2001 and Bush took us off to Iraq on a boondoggle. What do we do about Afghanistan? Do we simply turn our backs, pack up and go, leaving the country to Al Qaeda? Or should we make a real effort to win? The latter may be impossible. Momentum is gone and Afghanistan has settled into its tribal ways, opium production, and medieval mindset once again. Women are still stifled and modernity for that country may be out of the question.

In any war there are instances where innocents get killed, where soldiers are killed by friendly fire, and atrocities by the invaders take place. I worry that Obama has tied himself to yet another Viet Nam. Whatever, it is a difficult question and if the world shrugs its shoulders at innocents being killed and instead become wrapped up in the death of a celebrity, it is to be expected. After all, Afghanistan is a very uncomfortable situation with no easy answers; whereas, it is very easy to grieve over or to point the finger at Michael Jackson.

Original article: The poison of celebrity

America, all too often the land of the shallow

So much of the Jackson mania was media driven. It is incredible that our news centers would absolutely flood our televisions and websites with the Jackson story day in and day out...not only that, they are still doing it. I guess even this article can be counted in that vein though I found it thought provoking.

As for Palin, it is both sad and frightening that this ninny has such a following. Nor has her resignation hurt her poll numbers. Unbelievable!!!

Delving even deeper into our intellectual decline, who would have ever dreamed that we would have a president in these supposedly enlightened times who would condone torture as a means to get reliable information or wish to include intelligent design in our science curriculum! America has gone off course...badly.
