On a boycott permanently!

Keith Olbermann is in the same category as Chris Matthews...he can't get on my good side. He has offended me for the last time and so has Matthews. I will not watch either one of them, nor MSNBC for that matter!!! There are other sources for the news.

Feeling like an independent

For the first time in my life I am not enthusiastic about the Democratic candidate. This Clinton supporter has always said that she will vote for Obama if he is the nominee...however, I'm just not very interested in him nor is it likely I will contribute to his campaign. Actually, I am still seething that Hillary and Bill were made out to be racists by the Obama campaign. I don't even like Obama very much, and as for Olbermann, I wouldn't watch him if I had to. He no longer exists.

Biting the tongue!

It is impossible to dictate feelings! I am still angry and disappointed that Hillary did not win; however, I do intend to vote for Obama though I worry that other Dem's may gravitate to McCain.

As for biting the tongue, I am sure that Hillary bit hers many times in the course of the campaign...that comes with being a politician.

If Obama supporters want Hillary backers to embrace him, it is best not to say anything disparaging about Hillary. Deprecating comments are divisive and will drive Democrats away from the presumptive nominee. I would say that Obama's complaint that he had to bite his tongue on Hillary falls into that category!

Hillary could balance the ticket

It is so obvious that Obama needs Hillary on the ticket to attract Jewish voters and older Americans; plus she is a fabulous campaigner with wonderful energy. Hillary could have easily won Florida and Ohio over McCain.

American myopia

McCain's analysis of the Vietnam war defies logic, but what upsets me even more than his attitude is the belief by a majority of Americans, according to the polls, that McCain would be better than Obama in foreign affairs. The American people don't seem to learn from mistakes. Unbelievable!!!!

Arguing over hypotheticals

America frittered away its treasure and blood in Vietnam just as we have in Iraq. Whether we could have won it or not is pure speculation and a waste of our imagination. It is over and done with...the Vietnamese are better off now that we are gone and seem to hold few grudges toward us while old war mongers over here speculate that we could have won it.

Political mystery

Cold political reality has characterized Obama from the beginning. He may have seemed progressive but he has always been a big mystery for those of us who are not swayed by political rhetoric... plus reading his short resume in national affairs convinced me that at heart he is just another politician. My interest in this election is the lowest I can ever remember for a Democratic candidate. I frankly can't muster up any enthusiasm and my vote for him comes from a lifetime of voting for Democrats along with a real antipathy for Republican values. His latest turn to government funding of religious charities is a real turn-off! Even so, I hope Obama wins, but I worry that he won't!

Terminal conservative myopia

What is amazing is the preposterous notion that making a dollar today is the only important consideration for businesses. Unbridled money making is their only goal and is the standard they seek from government....they have no interest in or willingness to view the long-term consequences of any of their actions. It's all about making money TODAY and to hell with the future. They are in love with free market notions because it suits their avarice. That is their approach to everything, the environment included. It's myopic and crazy!

Cuba has a bright side

We should recognize Cuba without the ethanol consideration. Not only is our cold shoulder hypocritical, it has cut off that island from American influence to no avail.

As far as holding the Cuban people back, that may be true but in some respects, however, their simple life may have more positives than we realize. They have better medical care as a result of Castro, they have better education, and their pace of life is less hectic due to the loss of the travel industry which swallowed up Cuba in very harsh corruption.

Probably, recognition of the island is inevitable once the Castros are out of the picture but I wish I could visit the country...although the return of travel will bring back the vice.

Unilateral approaches to terrorism are wrong!

Keeping Afghanistan as a focus is important but making unilateral raids into Pakistan is a very dangerous plan. This was one of the reasons I favored Hillary over Obama. However, the Bush Administration has neglected Afghanistan to our detriment...chosing instead to aim our focus at Iraq. This proved incredibly stupid and I fear Obama's emphasis on Pakistan could entangle the U.S. in yet another conflagration with another country thus drawing more world disapproval. A unilateral approach to terrorism is the wrong approach. Period.
