  • Who is Obama?

[Read the article: Whose fault is the Clinton-Obama stalemate?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Shapiro is catering to Obama supporters in this article. Hillary has no foreign policy experience? I beg your pardon, Walter, Hillary represented the United States in many, many instances while First Lady, she was privy to the inside goings-on of the White House, she was always President Clinton's closest confidant, and surely she learned about the mechanics of foreign policy while living on Pennsylvania Ave. The Bosnia misstep on her part lay in exaggeration rather than not being qualified by her visit.

Obama has failed to convince working class Democrats, Hispanics, women, and older Americans because they rightfully think he is an unknown quantity. He jumped out there for the presidency before he had put in enough time getting to know them, politically speaking. Not only that, he held Rev. Wright to his vest which was political poison. This was terrible judgment on his part...Americans are never going to accept that sermon as appropriate rhetoric whether it is true or not or whether it holds some merit or not.

So when parceling out the mistakes of both campaigns, it's important to remember that both have had problems. However, the main reason why Obama should not be the nominee lies in the fact that he is too big a mystery for average Americans. He needs to pay his political dues before going for the big enchilada.

  • I don't think they are trying

[Read the article: Keith Olbermann apologizes for his Clinton remark]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I don't watch MSNBC anymore nor CNN for that matter. The noise is unpleasant, uncouth, and unbearable. Getting my news off the Internet, I have avoided at least the raucous aspect of television news though not the sexism, bias, and inanity rampant in the other medium.

I used to respect Olbermann but he has turned me off...sent me packing. Chris Matthews angered me terribly when he declared Cheney the winner of the Edwards/Cheney debate because Cheney dismissed Edwards so superciliously. Wow! Matthews likes cold harshness. Along those lines, he was impressed with Fred Thompson, too, because he could smell the cigars. Masculine, he called it. Incredible.

It is hard for me to believe that these folks are really trying. I see it more like this: pushing the envelope to the brink and then apologizing when it becomes necessary. I no longer respect NBC and I certainly don't turn to it for news!

  • Wright is wrong

[Read the article: Why Jeremiah Wright is so wrong]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The Rev. Wright flap is not going to go away. McCain will use it to beat Obama about the head and shoulders if he is the nominee, and probably successfully, too.

For Wright to stand before his congregation on September 16 shouting damnation at our country as a whole is incomprehensible. I am shocked that his own congregation did not call him out on it. Nothing justifies taking two planes and killing thousands of innocents. Nothing!!! Shaking the finger and placing blame are a negative style which is not effective in inspiring people to go forward. Instead, it encourages them to fret and fume and more or less stew in their own juices. Perhaps Rev. Wright has done some good for his people in other ways but his whole pulpit style reeks of old-time religion...lightning and thunderbolts coming out of the heavens to punish errant peoples.

On another note, it is infuriating to me when Obama openly courts Republicans with positive comments about their governing goals and policies, particularly when it comes to the courts. As far as I'm concerned, the only way to keep corporations from walking all over us is to slap lawsuits against those which engage in practices undermining the quality and integrity of the products they manufacture in an effort to increase profits. I don't see anything positive about the Republican agenda...not one thing! It truly favors business interests over the needs of the people and creates a third world atmosphere in our country.

  • Manos

[Read the article: Why Jeremiah Wright is so wrong]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I guess the obvious really is upsetting to you. However, from reading other posts, it would seem that many feel that Rev. Wright has not done anything which will reflect badly on Obama. They also believe that he is misunderstood and being unfairly painted. Apparently, they think that if it is spun properly, Rev. Wright will go away as an issue. It is not spinnable. Period. How many times have I read here and elsewhere that Rev. Wright is old news no longer influencing this race? This is not correct and I am glad that you realize it.

  • Obama's Wright connection is lethal

[Read the article: I was wrong about Wright]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Surely, Democrats are beginning to question whether Obama is electable. A new AP poll out today indicates Hillary beats McCain by a significant margin over Obama. This is good news for Democrats if they will see the handwriting on the wall!

  • "Outrage" too late

[Read the article: Obama "outraged" by Wright]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I could care less whether Obama denounces Wright or not. Obama was backed into a corner and was forced to contradict his minister to save his campaign; however, his association with him for twenty years, probably politically motivated in the first place, is telling.

Obama is not a winner for Democrats and the latest AP poll should be a very good indication that Hillary is by far a better choice. She is the strongest, most steadfast, and most tenacious of all three remaining candidates...I really admire her indefatigable spirit when it comes to hanging in there.

  • Obama electability in serious doubt!

[Read the article: Breaking the Democratic deadlock]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Obama will probably win North Carolina but I doubt Indiana will go for him. Voters are beginning to wise up to the fact that his candidacy holds some major drawbacks and his electability is seriously in doubt. With Hillary polling significantly better than Obama against McCain, it would be foolish for Democrats to rally around him. It is becoming more and more obvious that his appeal has declined in the public view.

  • Obtuse Democrats

[Read the article: Breaking the Democratic deadlock]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If Democrats want to implode by putting up Obama in the face of all the negative press, flip-flopping on Wright, tanking poll numbers, and charges of elitism, I suppose we Clinton supporters will simply have to watch another Democratic blunder. It is incredible the way this party can be so obtuse by continually putting up candidates which turn off middle Americans.
