Young women should avoid following the crowd

I was an Edwards supporter. After he dropped out, I had to find another candidate. It was during the debates that Hillary impressed me with her amazing ability to think on her feet. She wowed me and I have been able to see her as a very astute, capable, friendly, and compelling person whom I can support. While I like some of Obama's positions, I do not trust him because I don't know him at all and am wary of glib speakers who capture a crowd on words alone...someone who spends two years in the Senate and thinks he is ready to run for President knocks me back. Hillary has been in the public consciousness for years...we know her, warts and all. I don't believe that Obama is as wonderful and perfect as his supporters think he is. Actually, looking at his voting record in the Senate, I don't see him as any more liberal than Hillary. I got that notion when Obama went to Connecticut to promote Lieberman against the anti-war Democrat.

I think Obama can be termed "politically correct" for progressives and anyone supporting Hillary gets classed as conservative, old fashioned, not very intelligent, not educated and not professional. I am startled by these notions because I am progressive, educated, and perhaps a little bit of a non-conformist; nor am I a feminist...mainly because I am not ambitious about the work place. I have never liked going to work and being under somebody's thumb. I've got an artistic temperament.

It is unfortunate that young women in college think they have to hide their support for Hillary. Women need to follow their own instincts and vote their preferences. To hell with what is in vogue!

Do you really think the Republicans are going to take a nap if Obama is the nominee? Can you possibly think their base is not going to be energized? Be honest with yourself.

MadameF.

"The shit she has pulled" is a typical Hillary hater argument put forth by fanatical Obama supporters. Hillary supporters find her actions to be those of a fighter, a warrior, a determined politician who doesn't give up and throw in the towel. I figure Hillary can handle all the negative crap which will be thrown her way by the Republicans as well as any man.

Luminesce

Perhaps Manos, Tom, and Madam are not liberals. Maybe they are closet Republicans trying to divide the Democrats!

Madame

Hillary did not disparage Obama...you read all that into her comments. And what about Obama praising Reagan...that infuriated me. He was transparently trying to get Republicans to cross over and vote for him in Nevada. Obama has equated the Clinton years with the Bush years. Talk about insulting and untrue!

Madam

Don't ask, don't tell was the best Bill Clinton could get. Before that, gays were not even allowed in the armed services and were thrown out if it came to light.

As far as the cutting back on payments to needy families, if you will recall, the Republicans got control of both houses in a big way. Compromises had to be made because the Democrats had been repudiated by the voters.

I did not agree with the three strikes and you are out policy, but again, the climate in America was hostile to Democratic ideas. The people were terrified of lawlessness.

Clinton did some very good things for the people. He pocket- vetoed the bankruptcy bill, he pushed for a much fairer tax hike on the wealthy, he tried to get health care for the people. These are just a few positive things he did. I remember him as a good president but one who had powerful enemies in Congress out to bring him down.

The Republicans will get angry over any Democrat...they will hate Obama just as much as they hate Hillary and their racism will be as virulent and strident as their sexism.
