Original article: McCain, Obama in spat

Media bias for can turn into media bias against!

It would have been very nice if ABC.com had published Obama's very good response to McCain's charge on Monday night. However, when they covered the story, they managed to suggest that Obama had gone too far and had actually exaggerated McCain's "hundred years" declaration about Iraq. Does this show how the media bias so rampant now in connection with Hillary is going to be transferred to Obama when and if she is out of the picture? Obama has been a media darling but that won't last. We're going to be hearing all about his lack of experience, the Rev. Wright, and Michelle Obama's hatred of America if McCain and Obama face off. Don't expect a fair fight. That would be a mistake. At least with Hillary, the media has been slinging mud at her for years and she's still standing. I doubt Obama can weather it as well because voters don't have a long history with him. His newcomer status makes him a big unknown...perfect fodder for swiftboaters and media hacks.

Richardson's judgment

Bill Richardson's endorsement of Obama came on the heels of the Rev. Wright brouhaha. I think this shows exactly what kind of judgment Richardson has. The Rev. Wright thing has hurt Obama terribly and will continue to haunt him if he is the nominee. It is not unlike Richardson to twist words to his liking.

If the media will do it to Hillary, they can do it to Obama

I am very glad to see this article. Hillary supporters are filled with concomitant anger and depression due to the media's unequal treatment of her in comparison to Obama and McCain. Any little negative in her campaign is seized upon and plastered all over the headlines creating a whipping effect on this candidate. Reporters and so-called journalists have lapsed into taking potshots just for the hell of it or pointing their fingers in grave reproach for any instances of aggressive campaigning on her part. They have literally tried to shut down her efforts to get her message out and have, in effect, trained the public to hate her. If it were not for commentors on Internet websites, there would be no balance whatsoever in the campaign coverage. That is one of the reasons I do not very often visit CNN.com or MSNBC.com. All I can do with them is right a complaint to the editors...at least with ABC.com, CBS.com, and Salon, I can perhaps present another side for the reader to consider...that is, if they bother to read it.

This is not fair to the American people. It is the people who should be picking our next president, not the media, and that is not what is happening. We, the people, have the right to know about all the negatives of all the candidates so that we can make an informed decision about whom to give our vote. It is to Hillary's credit that in spite of all the negative press, her poll numbers are high, almost equal to Obama's or just a few points lower. This woman is an awesome candidate...she springs back to life when others, less able and less well known would have folded. I believe she could be our next president if the media would give her a fair shake.

Obama has been a media darling for the most part. Hillary's lies are discovered, searched for, and presented with venom. Obama's lies and distortions are not given equal press time, while McCain's are not even mentioned at all. I predict that will all change if and when Obama becomes the nominee. It will be Obama who is branded the novice, the liberal, the candidate whose patriotism can be questioned because of his association with the Rev. Wright and others. McCain, I venture, will be handled with kid gloves...presented as a moderate, more or less clean, and a true patriot, a hero. It is not going to be easy for Obama to win if this is the case.

My crystal ball says that the media is not playing fair with the Democrats now and will be even worse when a nominee is selected. I am outraged at this because I think a McCain presidency will be a real disaster!

Sexism is being used for ulterior purposes

I don't believe for a minute we are going to get a black president because, like it or not, what the American people think is dictated by the media to a large extent. Yes, there are sexists attacks but I believe the real reason for the onslaught has to do more with the fact that the media sees a way to give McCain a leg up. The sexism plays well with good ole boys and girls as well as Obama supporters because they can capitalize on it. Remember, media bias can turn on a dime. Today, Obama is a media darling...tomorrow if and when he becomes the nominee, he'll be the candidate with little experience, who has questionable Rezko ties, and who is liberal, liberal, liberal. Get ready to hear the word over and over again because the media is not liberal...it is conservative and corporately controlled.

It is to Hillary's credit that despite all the media bias, she still does well in the polls, almost equalling Obama's numbers. Think what it would be like if there were an equal playing field. She would be well ahead of him.
