Politics of fear...whatever that is!
[Read the article: How Obama won Wisconsin ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Jim L., I was unhappy about Obama and Hillary being in the election from the very beginning. I think the Democrats had better choices but the media froze them out. I do not fall for demagogues and I distrust smooth talkers who win over a crowd in a few minutes with inspirational and idealist palaver. Finally, Michelle's "authentic" hostility will not sit well with Americans!

The truth hurts!
[Read the article: How Obama won Wisconsin ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Anonymous, the word, racist, has been the mantra of the Obama campaign and they have gotten away with calling anyone and every one who doesn't agree with them a racist. By the way, Michelle is hostile! There is no doubt about it!

Chatter
[Read the article: How Obama won Wisconsin ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Anonymous, I apparently have touched a sore spot with you. I thought I was put off by anyone who is hostile and unfriendly no matter their skin color, but that is impossible in your mind. It is unfortunate that I have offended you. I thought I was just speaking my piece which I believe to be true, but, no, I can't hold those opinions or write them for fear of being called a racist. I sincerely wish that you would accept that people have opinions other than yours and they are not "code" for anything!

Glowing articles galore!
[Read the article: Obama's borrowed words]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This article has been pretty even handed in its focus and criticism. How anyone can interpret that this is a shill for Hillary is amazing. While Walsh does admit that she has wondered whether we know enough about Obama, she certainly takes some unflattering digs at Hillary's campaign. Salon has had article after article praising Obama, showing his picture, praising the efficiency of his campaign, and suggesting that he could make a real difference in international relations. It has deliberately gone totally silent on missteps which point to a lack of diplomacy such as Obama's behavior at the State of the Union toward Hillary which since has been explained away nor did it even cover Michelle's offensive words words about America that caused such a firestorm. Silence. Nothing. Incredible!
I do not see much of a case that Obama is being treated unfairly by Salon. On the other hand, I have felt that Salon has been terribly quiet about Hillary. It can go days with hardly a mention of her and when Edwards was in contest, the same was true for him. Obama has had every break here but that is not good enough for his fans. Everyone has to worship him like they do or they're not satisfied!

Not around long enough
[Read the article: Hillary Clinton's Texas-size moment ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I don't think Hillary lifted the "we are going to be fine" sentiment from Edwards. It is common vernacular and absolutely hair splitting to say it is. I am going to vote tomorrow and it will be Hillary who gets it because I know that she is more experienced than Obama. He just hasn't been around long enough to establish his credentials for the office of president!

Discrediting politicians requires a good turn of phrase!
[Read the article: McCain: Reformer or phony?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The public finds it difficult to follow the articles like the one in the Times. The reports get enmeshed in details which are boring to read and cover a lot of names which the reader can't keep up with. Any story which seeks to expose a politician had better be clearly written if it is going to have any legs and should be entertainingly worded with clever phrasing, etc. I have to admit that the Times article, rather being pointed, actually confused me...it was hard to determine what the writer was trying to say and keeping up with all the dates and names was daunting. I came away wondering whether McCain had really been compromised, whether he didn't do what all politicians do, whether he actually had a romantic dalliance with the lobbyist, etc. There is no substitute for clear, concise writing...long articles are especially challenging.
I almost always like the content of Conason's articles and I especially like the fact that he keeps the length at bay. However, I found myself going brain dead on some of the details which I had to reread. Yet, with that said, this article was well written.

Oozing disdain
[Read the article: No Hail Mary for Hillary]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Wow, Mike, do you think you can kick her around some more!

Absolutely, let the people vote!
[Read the article: Should Hillary Clinton drop out?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hillary should by no means drop out. Is everybody dead certain how Texas, Ohio, and the others are going to vote? The media is making it sound like a foregone conclusion. It is premature to ask her to drop out because anything can happen...something might surface about Obama...and she might win those states. If she does, she definitely should slug it out with him. After all, he only has a hundred more delegates than she has.
The main reason I don't want her to concede concerns my misgivings about the candidacy of Obama. He is simply not experienced...Hillary has wisely pointed out his Pakistan insanity. The guy is not ready for the White House and I really feel like he is a loser for the Dem's. I can see it all now. In fact, it started today on the news sites. (The media left that picture of Obama with the turban on the screen all day long. It didn't really help Obama but showing it did give McCain a boost with the all the bigots.) The media will go on and on about McCain's years of service, his war trauma, his great honesty, his middle of the road stances, and Obama will be talked about as the liberal, the inexperienced senator, and his Rezko past, among other things. I don't see the media continuing to give him passes they way they have since the beginning of the primaries. I have to wonder if he is, in fact, the Trojan horse.
I keep hoping Hillary will pull it off and win. She is ready for the presidency. Obama is not. And if she doesn't win, I'm still proud of her great presence and her stature as one of the gutsiest women in the world. She has shown how strong a woman can be in the face of an unfriendly press with all the cards stacked against her.
