  • Dems on Iran

[Read the article: The NYT on the administration's "debate" over whether to attack Iran]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Excerpts from Obama to AIPAC, 3/2/07:

"...my plan includes a robust regional diplomatic strategy that includes talking to Syria and Iran..."

"...The world must work to stop Iran’s uranium enrichment program and prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. It is far too dangerous to have nuclear weapons in the hands of a radical theocracy. And while we should take no option, including military action, off the table, sustained and aggressive diplomacy combined with tough sanctions should be our primary means to prevent Iran from building nuclear weapons."

Excerpts from Hillary to AIPAC 2/1/07:

" ...There are many, including our President who rejects any kind of process of any sort of engagement with countries like Syria and Iran. I do believe that that is certainly a good faith position to take, but I am not sure it is the smartest strategy that will take us to the goals that we share..."

"...And what do I mean by engagement or some kind of a process? Well I'm not sure anything positive would come out of it, I have no expectations whatsoever. But there are a number of factors that I think argue for some attempt to do what I am suggesting: number one I don't think we know enough about how Iranian society and their government really functions."

"...And I also want to send a message if we ever do have to take war, drastic action to the rest of the world that we exhausted all possibilities because we need friends and allies to stand with us as we stand with Israel in this long war against terrorism and extremism."

Will the words and actions of Hillary, Obama, Pelosi, or Reid be supportive of an attack on Iran or against an attack? The Bush administration gets their point across in the media. Can any of these four get a front-page article about Iran in the NYT (or Sunday morning national talk show) to directly address where the Bush administration stands? Is that a fair question?

These media reach a far greater audience than the number of people searching the internet for viewpoints, and searching the internet is not going to prevent this war.

The time to stop the rush to war is running out.

  • My two cents

[Read the article: Preordering week for "A Tragic Legacy"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The lifeblood of the Manicheans is the peoples' fear and ignorance, so they continue to frighten and lie to them, using the MSM as their willing tools.

Hopefully your book will be discussed widely in the MSM.

  • Close it today.

    [Read the article: Whither Guantánamo?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

That is what Colin Powell said. I bet he thought about it seriously. The costs to this country in keeping it open outweigh the benefits. Find space at a military installation in the U.S. and move them now. Let the legal process then run it's course. What are you afraid of?

  • No way.

[Read the article: A Cheney-Thompson swap?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Cheney and Gonzales are perfect for Bush.

Bush is lazy. Cheney does all of the detail work and "lets" Bush pick from the menu options. Gonzales does what is needed to facilitate the lawlessness. That's exactly the way Bush likes it. As long as Bush is the decider, those two are staying put.

  • Reaganesque?

[Read the article: Rudy amid the evangelicals]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

That must be a made-up Republican word. Just say he's like Reagan. Why the -esque? I hate the sound of it. I'm tired of hearing it. The way your nominees support the administration, describe them as Bushesque and Cheneyesque.

What the hell does it mean, anyway? How many times has a student in 2007 seen Ronald Reagan? Must be brain-washed.

  • You're right, save you're energy.

[Read the article: Why did Bush commute Libby's sentence?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If it's wrong, he will do it.

I went to bed last night as angry as I have been about this Administration, but a few hours of sleep and reflection calmed me down. I agree with Joan's comment on the Libby matter.

If you are going to spend any of your time fighting against them, please direct your energy to preventing the escalation of the war in Iraq and an attack of Iran. This is where he still can hurt America the most. Everything else, most of the damage has been done.

  • Did Cheney set Bush up?

[Read the article: "Even Richard Nixon knew it was time to resign"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If this commutation was Cheney's idea, has he set up Bush for a resignation so that Cheney would then be President?

  • GOP: party of fear

[Read the article: The GOP is the party of the Iraq war]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    What are you afraid of?

Middle Easterners? Let's kill them before they kill us.

Latin Americans? Keep them out of the country before they overrun us, clog up our schools, hospitals, and jails. Just make sure the grass is cut and the tomatoes are picked. Could you please stop speaking to each other in Spanish? It's scary to think that not everyone speaks English.

Taxes? Don't raise taxes to pay for our war of terror. Cut spending on people not like us, whom we prefer would just disappear.

Homosexuals? Who isn't afraid of them?

African-Americans? Afraid of them, too. Can't we turn back the clock? 1950's? 1850's? Obama is either a sissy or a black panther, so you better be afraid of him.

Russia? Not too afraid of them anymore, but need more military spending just in case.

East Asians? Hmmm. Not Christian, but for now they are selling us a lot of stuff real cheap. More military spending just in case we need to start killing them again.

Drug users? Put them in jail, who cares what happens to them in there? I think Obama admitted to drugs, another reason to be afraid of him.

    Abortion? Blame the liberal judges.

Your health? Don't have insurance? Pray to God.

The Constitution? Not afraid of it, but it only protects the people we don't like, besides, we're too busy with other things to worry about that. You know: our kids, our church, our jobs, our gun rights, our home values.

The President and Vice President? They aren't perfect, but they are the only ones who will protect us from being killed.

We will find your fear, and we will exploit it.

  • GOP Base

Where you go to have your fears and ignorance exploited.
