Some white people may be surprised to discover that most black people don't speak Ebonics, and don't rap when they talk to people. Why, most black people even have parents that insist on them getting an education and learning the proper use of the English language. Now why do you suppose that is? Hmm.

Let us cogitate. Let us contemplate upon the reasons.

Might it be because some, ahem, DUMB ASS WHITE FOLKS have this really (you'll forgive me) WHACKED idea that ALL BLACK PEOPLE ARE JUST A BUNCH OF ILL SPOKEN BRUTES? Now to be fair, the proliferation of hip-hop and rap culture hasn't helped to ameliorate that perception. Neither have some black leaders. But for people like Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, and to a lesser degree, Joe Biden it's like the dawning of the Age of Aquarius.

"Wow! Black people that can speak well. Who knew?"

Meanwhile, NO ONE on the right EVER takes George W. Bush to task for his mangling of the English language. NO ONE from Bill O'Reilly's Phantom Zone of Spin ever mentions that Bush is the most ill-spoken occupant of the Oval Office that we've had in certainly the last 30 odd years. Yet black people show up all the time in business, in politics, in education, in the arts and culture well-educated, well-spoken LIKE MANY EDUCATED PEOPLE and this is somehow regarded as an anomaly. You get a Deval Patrick (new governor of MA) or a Barack Obama in the public eye who know how to use the language and you'd think there was a whole new species or something. Then you got these two Paragons of Morality and Proper Behavior getting black people on their shows to say, "See, we really aren't racists. We just don't know how to talk to these people. They get so upset. You have to be so 'politically correct' nowadays. God!" And the truth is if they were really being "correct", they wouldn't need to point out how well Barack speaks or Deval speaks or Michael Eric Dyson speaks or John Saunders (on ESPN) speaks. Nevermind that Saunders is Canadian. Or how Robin Roberts (Good Morning America) speaks or Al Roker (Today Show) speaks, or Avery Brooks speaks or Blair Underwood speaks or Vanessa Williams speaks or anybody else for that matter.

Joe Biden was being ignorant. He's not a racist. Trust me. These other two blowhards? O'Reilly and Beck? Card carrying bigots. Biden apologized. Obama took no offense. It's over. Meanwhile these two have to fan the flames. Do the math.

You feel me?

If O'Reilly and Beck are terrified of what to say to black people, then they really have missed the point.

What they're really afraid of is that a bunch of balck people might get IRATE and come and lynch their collective punk ass. That's okay. Tune out the fact that most black people are good, decent, law-abiding citizens who have more to think about than whether a couple of non-telegenic, fancy suit wearing, right-wing racist homophobes think they're "articulate" or not. LIke I said. That's the lion's share of us. Now I can't speak for them brothers livin' in the 'hood. I mean they might roll a whole other way about this. So maybe they should be a little worried.

I think Scooter Libby is going to prison, folks.

And as for the old saw the White House was using about whether there was intent to leak information in order to smear a war dissenter, I'd have to say there's no more confusion on that issue. OF COURSE THERE WAS! This all goes right up the chain all the way into the Oval Office, just as many of us thought it might.

Wonder what Patrick Fitzgerald's next move will be once Libby is found guilty and sentenced. Will he go after the others for perjury, obstruction of justice and so on? We can only hope.

You know, I shouldn't use the word "self-absorbed" because it sort of misses the point. It seems overworked by now. But I gotta give Becky Traister props. How did she EVER stand spending several hours with this guy? I just read the interview and I need a shower. GROSS! I wanted to run away screaming. So I'll try to use another word, another phrase....

This guy raised the Asshole Quotient on the planet by several notches.
