Last Nail In The Coffin

Here lies the "Republican Revolution". Buried this day in 2006, the Revolution that was televised, ended as it began, on TV for all the world to see. It began ambitiously enough. At the height of its power, any notion of the country we once were was nearly eclipsed. But then, it choked over the last year on its own hubris and corruption. Efforts to save it proved futile. It died, kicking and screaming on Nov. 7, 2006. There have been to date, few mourners save those who passionately believed in the cause. Sadly, there is little to comfort them save the lies they told themselves. The Republican Revolution was buried today with eulogies from incumbent Republicans in MT and VA. The earth was salted over the grave site. Anyone wishing to pay their last respects are directed to contact Karl Rove, who at this moment is pulling what's left of his hair out and screaming, "WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED??"

Original article: Lost faith in the GOP

And Now, A Word from the Hypocrites

Not a cheap date, my ass.

All you have to do is mention Jesus and these people are on you like a virgin at the Homecoming dance. If you happen to diverge even a little from their prescribed set of thou-shalt-not "values", and they're ready to kick you to the curb and shake off the dust from their feet. Corruption, intolerance, and bigotry served this set quite well for six years. They didn't give a tinker's damn about how Bush and Co. were raping the country as long as he mentioned God and Jesus every other word.

They didn't a tinkers damn while Iraq was being sacked and our soldiers were put to the hazard for a lie. All you needed to say was that they were doing "God's work" and they would go back to demonizing everyone else smart enough to see through this charade, chirping right-wing talking points like androids. Now that the sane among us have spoken, all they have are sour grapes and regrets and half-ass excuses about why they were abandoned. And it's interesting that the VP of the National Assoc. of Evangelicals is the one the author chose to have weigh in on this. The reason evangelical voters left the GOP is the same reason that Christians leave the faith to begin with: the rhetoric and the reality don't square up in either case. And the results are invariably disastrous as we've been forced to endure these last years.

Let's be Clear

If we're going to talk about "liberal" and "conservative" we should define our terms like one poster here was kind enough to do. If we are going to use those terms then the truth is, "conservative" most certainly would not apply to the ideological radicals who have hi-jacked our government the last six years. Nor would one call the Democrats who have rightfully earned their seats in this last election lacking in moral principle, as "liberal" is sometimes defined. We should also understand how these terms are applied. The Democrats have been re-defined now as the fiscal conservatives concerned with balancing the budget and tax fairness. Those could be considered traditional, cautious, "conservative" positions. The Republicans, in their current incarnation have been the prolifigate spenders of money that they have BORROWED, which could be considered a wildly unprincipled, "liberal" course.

But the real terms we ought to be using are "libertine" which means no respect for convention or morality of any sort, and "radical" which suggests extreme change. Both terms can be fairly well applied to the current Bush group. Radical Libertines.

Now, are we to suppose that the Radicals' definition of victory in this election is due to a move to the right by the Sensible, Broad-Minded, Tolerant, Moderates who actually value things like open government and accountability, and who worry about true moral and spiritual decline in our culture (as opposed to declining regard for "thou shalt not" absolutism)? Is that the takeaway here?

Somehow I think not. And let's bear in mind that the ones who are proffering this byzantine logic to us are themselves morally, intellectually, and spiritually bankrupt.

Original article: Neoconservatism -- RIP

I Second That

The summation of neoconservative philosophy, given by Gary Kamiya here, is shocking for its arrogance, simplistic assumptions, and unapologetic racism. I shudder to think how close we were to stepping over the line to utter madness.

As I see it, President Bush has two choices; get into the "reality based world" and work with the incoming Congress to extricate the US from this fool's errand called Iraq, or see his tenure end in ignominious fashion prematurely via an impeachment process. If he chooses the latter, I can pretty much guarantee that he will be removed from office, and Voodoo Priest Cheney along with him. It will be interesting to see if he has the sense God gave a grapefruit in the coming year.

The Honeymoon is Short Lived

Sort of like going away to Hawaii and not liking anything about it and deciding on a divorce immediately following.

Of course this isn't completely unexpected. Bush was still unyeilding after meeting with the Iraq Survey Group earlier this week. So this would appear to confirm what I said previously, that W is constitutionally incapable of "bipartisanship" and will continue with his combative approach till the day he leaves office...hopefully in handcuffs after being impeached, tried, found guilty, and removed from the White House.

PRAY THAT DAY COMES SOON!

PRAY WITH ME, CITIZENS!

Can I get an "amen"?

YAWN...

What?

Oh, them again. Same idiots as before.

Wake me when it's over.

Or when someone has an original idea.
