Overboard Much?

One post posts that Bill O'Reilly is running out of topics.

I'm inclined to agree.

These people take themselves WAY too seriously. Please, for all our sakes, accept your lot as the persecuted and SHUT THE HELL UP!!

Oh and by the way,

Seasons Greeting

This Was Bound to Happen

I've read some of the posts here and I am heartened by the spreading realization that the Christian Right's vision of Utopia would be a very bad thing for America. The Crusades turned out to be a very bad thing for Europe, and this modern crusade into the Middle East is turning out to be a very bad thing for that region. I think, oddly enough about the words of Jean-Luc Picard who said and I quote:

"The Prime Directive is not just a set of rules. It is a philosophy; and a very correct one. History has proved again and again, that whenever mankind (or, in this case, the hubristic Bush Administration) interferes with another less developed civilization, no matter how well intentioned that interference may be, the result is invariably disastrous."

The Constitution is our Prime Directive, and it states very clearly that church and state should be separated and kept that way. The Founding Fathers knew what they were talking about. The separation exists to protect freedom for all of us, which is the spiritual principle that informs our nation. The Religious Right and their yes men in Congress and the White House arrogantly attempt to trample that principle at their own peril, and we're seeing how it ends now. I am personally quite grateful to see so many people waking up as the fortunes of these theocrats fall.

True Depravity

I had thought to begin my post with a joke, but this is far too serious. 40 million people worldwide are infected with the virus that causes AIDS. That's more than the population of California. It's a terrifying number and a terrifying reality that the number keeps rising. Once again, as in so many other areas, the Bush Administration's dogmatic evangelical approach is killing people. Someone once said that George Bush and Co., have been bad not only for America, but bad for the planet. How on earth are we going to be able to stand another 3 years of this? Thank God people are waking up in this country, and the president's approval ratings are such that he won't be able to get anything substantive done. Fortunately, the EU, having had a much longer history than we have, has turned aside Bush's simplistic "just say no to sex" message.

People shouldn't die for having sex. It's these idiot Jesus freaks that are turning the pleasures of sex into an act punishable by death, which of course they call, "God's Judgement". Nor is it lost on me that many of these people who are infected are black and poor.

Curious, how amongst all this talk about "God's Grand Plan for Israel", Africa is never even mentioned. No plan for them. Other than to be "saved". Let them die otherwise. They're only savages anyway, right?

This is depravity, my friends. If this isn't depravity, I don't know what is.

Exit With Honor...or not

As much as I appreciate the notion of "saving face", and preserving our "dignity", with regard to exiting Iraq, the truth is we have squandered any honor or dignity that we may have had when we ruthlessly and savagely invaded the country, proceeded to destroy it, and now cling to our occupation in hopes of filling the coffers of a bunch of already insanely rich energy companies. You cannot speak of honor and dignity when you are dealing with thugs such as Bush and Co. Now Democrats want a plan that allows these criminals to "save face".

The only dignified and honorable thing to do in Iraq is exit Iraq. Now.

Forget saving face.

There is no honor.

There is no dignity.

There is not even a proud nation to come back to. This nation will be relieved, certainly, but there is no pride in what we have done, what we have allowed to be done in the name of the United States of America.

We must do as Jack Murtha says and leave as soon as possible. Immediately, or soon thereafter, in my judgement.

Picking Nits

As far as I am concerned, Jennifer Aniston is a smoking hottie.

Of course, I am a man and I happened to believe all the "Friends" babes are, well, BABES! What this fixation is on how perky a woman's breasts are at 36 as opposed to 16 I don't quite get. Maybe our friend in England likes teenagers, but I'm for grown women myself. Besides, isn't the National Review the domain of the right? Instead on picking nits about Jennifer Aniston's...tits, how about explaining all this fawning coverage of Condoleeza Rice, who has got to be the ugliest woman God ever put breath in.
