Go to the reunion

With all due respect, Cary, this is not good advice.

In another 10 years, maybe less, some of these overachievers will have had a reversal of fortune: illness, divorce, job loss and/or death - theirs or a loved one's. Current status is subject to change.

To judge whether one should "skip" an event based on the perceived success of others seems awfully superficial.

Who said he confessed?

Nowhere does the LW say that he "confessed". He uses the word "caught."

Here is the likely scenario: His wife was tipped off - or just suspected on her own. She began checking numbers on his cell phone, text messages, e-mail and im's. She may have even followed him, or had a friend do so.

When confronted, the LW did what apparently comes naturally: He lied, rationalized, minimized and denied. In short, he tried to protect his sorry ass.

So to the LW: forget about ever getting your wife, or your life back. She and it are gone. Your kids may one day respect you again, but if they don't you can add that to the fall-out of your narcissism.

Demons?(gag!) Those aren't demons, buddy, they are piss-poor decisions. Drama will not change the reality.

Finally, get some counseling - I cannot imagine anyone who needs it more.

Original article: Sarah Palin is not bitter

Her eyes

Say it all...she is angry.

I think she was convinced that her presence on the ticket was going to carry the GOP back to the White House, instead of leading it over the cliff.

But, hey, thanks for that. It could not have happened soon enough.

Original article: The two-boyfriend problem

Puhleeze

The letter writer is 25??? How does one get to that age and still remain so self-involved, whiny and obnoxious.

On Maslow's hierarchy, she is about three.

Here's the advice I would have given her: until or unless you and your "boyfriends" mature, please take a vow of celibacy or use really, really good birth control.

Just wonderin'

Mr. Keillor:

Are you having a post-midlife crisis, and wishing once again to be 15 years old - with all that entails, including fantasizing about young nekked women?

Cuz I gotta say - your last two articles in Salon are tending along those lines, and I think it is rather creepy.

Once again

...the GOP tries to distract us with smoke and mirrors, or in this case, a pretty , if somewhat vapid, face.

It continually reminds me of the comments from the Repubs when Bush the Elder chose Dan Quayle. They just knew that "women" in this country would be thrilled to have such a good-looking man as vice-president.

Personally, I never saw it. I tend to like men to look a bit more rugged, and more important, to be smart and knowledgeable.

Original article: Watching Republicans grieve

Say what?

From my vantage point here in the deepest of the Deep South, I can tell Ms. Pelosi and anyone else who thinks the Republicans are no different from the Democrats [in wanting their candidate to win] that she and they are sorely misinformed.

What I hear from the white conservative, mostly retired folks in my community is that Obama is a Muslim, socialist, empty suit, upstart and they hope he is going to fail miserably.

One friend sat with other golfers at a lunch during the campaign and heard one man say he hoped that eventually someone would be successful at assassinating Obama.

Should someone ever say that in my presence, I will tell that person I intend to report anyone who says such a thing, and then I will do just that.

As for the Kool-Aid comment, Ms. Pelosi should compare the rantings of Rush, Hannity, et al to what Olbermann and Maddow and Mathews say on their shows. She is missing something here, and I think it's her objectivity.

except4alltheothers

I know an awful lot about conservatives, being the in-law to countless right-wing Republicans.

And I know this: they hate all things Democratic, including our new president.

Vitriol? The Republicans in this country have brought that to new depths, and they are the worse for it.

Save your scolding for the GOP; maybe they can make a comeback in several more decades.

It will likely take that long to undo the damage wrought by the Republican administrations dating back to Ronald Reagan.

"Newsflash: while we have nothing against other women, the thought of swapping fluids with other women is not at all appealing to many of us."

Thank you. My sentiments, exactly.

@agore

Perhaps the "progressive liberals" posting comments are not prudes or judgmental. Maybe they (I count myself in that number) are just confounded:That with all the ills in this world - you know, wars, starvation, unbridled corporate greed, unemployment, job loss, lack of health care for millions - someone like the LW is WHINING about the unavailability of women to share and maintain the affinity he sees as his right.

After all, his parents had an open marriage and he thought it was way cool.

Excuse me while I puke.
