Keith Olbermann is a full-of-himself fool.

There are no grounds for Bush and Cheney to resign. It would not be good for the nation for them to resign. It would not set a good precedent for them to resign without process and on the say-so, of who, a sportscaster who fashions himself as a pundit?

If there are to be resignations, let us start at a far lower level--with Mr. Olbermann.

"Tragic"? As if.

There is nothing in the least tragic about Gov. Spitzer's fall. With the exception of the effect on his family.

This is nothing less than divine retribution, or at the very least poetic justice of the most delicious kind.

He was a sanctimonious, self-serving, hyper-ambitious, bullying son of a bitch. And he cultivated a multitude of disciples in his own image to spread his own brand of legally shrouded venality.

Thus ever to zealots, Mr. Sptizer.

May you after a long life of humiliation, come to reside in that special room in hell for hypocrites who victimize others for their own advancement.

The most glaring issue here is hypocrisy.

There are many issues in this scandal that go against Governor Sptizer. But the one that has made it particularly explosive is the incredible hypocrisy.

Spitzer held himself out to be an angel of justice and the sole of rectitude. Among his many zealous prosecutions, at least two were against prostitution rings.

The problem with prostitution has nothing to do with consenting adults. It has to do with the fact that women are almost inevitably victimized by the activity. The other is that prostitution is almost invariably connected to organized crime and its earnings support same.

But, returning to my core point, you cannot, like Mr. Spitzer, promote your entire career as the chief crusader against corruption, and then engage in corrupt activities yourself. And, as long as prostitution is illegal, as it is for prostitute, pimp, and john alike, then patronizing prostitutes is a corrupt activity.

If Spitzer's career had not been so extremely sanctimonious, perhaps he would have some leg to stand on. Or, at least, he'd be getting some sympathy from the media and fellow politicians.

You ain't seeing that. And you won't.

Maybe it's the opposite of what you're saying.

Rather than your postulate that being a woman has unlocked prejudices that are holding Hillary back, maybe Hillary is creating impressions that are creating prejudices against other women.

I can say with complete confidence, that if Diane Feinstein were running-- a woman of integrity, honesty, and intelligence, who is respected on both sides of the aisle, none of these "female problems" would be emerging.

Hillary's biggest problem is that she's a Clinton. With everything that implies.

Original article: Ask the pilot

Hey, Patrick, stop dissing antique airliners.

I fly a 64 year old airplane--a former Navy Howard DGA-15P. It makes for far more comfortable and majestic travel than any flat engined Cessna or even a Bonanza with its far more cramped cockpit. I'm only going 130 or 140 knots instead of 170, but on a 400 or 500 mile trip, doesn't make much time difference, and I'm having fun.

Meanwhile, as to the old airliners, I can tell you that the passenger experience was a helluva lot better in them than in the new iron. And my experience goes back to Connies and DC-7s which as a kid I used to ride in by myself between L.A. and NYC.

In those days even coach was as copious as today's first class. The appointments were posh. And the stewardess, who was always good looking, gave a kid special attention. Including junior pilot wings and a trip to the cockpit.

So quit your bitchin' and go back to flying like it's 1964.

Original article: Quote of the day

Seems like a candid enough comment to me.

What's your problem with it?

Obama doesn't deserve any peace regarding the security of Israel.

His feckless, wrongheaded plan to pull us out of the Iraq by date certain could hardly give either Israelis or Americans and confidence in his ability to deal with a dangerous world.

I see he is backing down on his original promises of near-immediate withdrawal. This in the face of our success in Iraq with the Surge that he and the rest of the moronic Democratic Party opposed.

Also he is backing down in the face of how stupid it makes him look and how poor his judgement is on matters he has no experience with and poor instincts about.

The idea of an Obama presidency is frightening beyond words. And not just to Israel or American Jews.

Original article: John McCain, Internet dunce

The last thing we need in a president is a geek.

Look, I know computing inside and out. I know the Internet from countless hours spent online.

And guess what, any president who does what I do would be a disaster. If Jimmy Carter were in the White House today, you can bet he would be wasting time online, too. And producing an even worse result than his late 70s presidency.

The president should be a Great Generalist. He is paid to choose good people, set policy, make critical decisions. He is supposed to macro-manage, not micro-manage.

Meanwhile, the writer has forgotten that McCain was a naval aviator. Flying off of and landing on an aircraft carrier, and doing everything in between to drop bombs on a target, required tin McCain's day and requires now, high technical skills, along with skill and courage.

Techno-dumbies don't make it as Navy carrier pilots. It is far more demanding and character building sort of techno-skill than anything the Internet is going to throw at you.

As both a cyber-geek and a commercially rated pilot of many years, I know of what I speak.
