@Teresa

CS's work for me baby. Deal with that. Your opinions concerning the study in question (not to mention numerous others) seem to be diametrically opposed to the following authorities (great or small):

It's ok T, have another sip, close your eyes and contemplate the prospect of using your hard earned profession to pay for all the "free houses" that Obama is going to give away (really) to "deserving" people. Sucker.

Me? I'm investing in ways to legally reduce my taxes, and trust me, there are ways. Jerk Boy will get less and less from me as time goes on.

All I want to know is

WHERE'S MY STUFF, MAN? I WANT STUFF!!

No drama?

"If we don't do something "NOW", the country is dooooomed".

"Yes maam, we'll buy you a house".

If this is what "no drama" looks like, what exactly does drama look like?

Boy, talk about a revisionist parsing of Lincoln's words...

If you want to know Lincoln, read Lincoln. This author in particular is twisting snips and snaps of what Lincoln said to make him look positively moderate. That is not how Lincoln would be viewed today. To whit, a speech by Lincoln:

"While I was at the hotel to-day, an elderly gentleman called upon me to know whether I was really in favor of producing a perfect equality between the negroes and white people. [Great Laughter.] While I had not proposed to myself on this occasion to say much on that subject, yet as the question was asked me I thought I would occupy perhaps five minutes in saying something in regard to it. I will say, then, that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races, [applause] - that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say, in addition to this, that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality."

Surprised? It's probably because those are his actual words... Rarely what you get in public education. What is commonly taught is the "St. Lincoln" version. Read more at

Or simply read his first and second inaugural addresses.

Lincoln was not a saint, he was a politician.

Lose the wishful thinking PalestraJon

So, who's right, PalestraJon or Rosenkavalier?

The bottom line is that it is impossible to know "what Lincoln might be like today", and much wishful thinking will not change that, or the man. What is possible, is to know what Lincoln was like when he was alive. He was not what many people would like for him to be, that one thing is sure.

BTW, what was pervasive in that speech is pervasive in much of Lincoln's writing, including his first and second Inaugural addresses. Read it for yourself.

Again, Lincoln was no saint, he was a politician.

Original article: His life as a dog

We have two dogs

A Border Collie and a Collie mix, and have had three other Border Collies. We live in the country, and believe that it is the only environment for high energy dogs. If you live in town, get a lap dog (it's only fair). We love our dogs, but one thing we have never uttered is "He would never bite..." That is a fool's way of thinking. In the right situation any dog may bite. Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, etc... Don't get me started. When there are so many other breeds to choose from, why choose a breed that is outright intimidating? Do they bite more often than other dogs? It's hard to say. I will say this, however. I have never seen a headline that read "Toddler killed by Chihuahua"

Original article: Depressed? No! We're angry

Tell me something

Did I miss something, or have all these recent articles been distraction form the fact that Obama is getting read to spend a trillion dollars of our money?

Why no articles on the actual content of the bill?

Original article: Barney Frank, Bible scholar

Well, since he likes to quote from the same book that contains the Torah

I wonder how often he quotes Leviticus 18:22?

Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.

Concerning whatever religion he may claim:

You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder. (James 2:19)

Concerning his use of the Bible in general:

(He said) For it is written:

'He will command his angels concerning you,

and they will lift you up in their hands,

so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.' - Satan

Frank's got good company.

Well, this is some very, very expensive wishful thinking

I hope you don't mind the fact that your children will be paying for this mess for the rest of their lives. What an obscene joke.
