So, I guess all it takes for liberals to support

a trillion dollar spending bill is for the president to have a D after his name...

Does any rational, intelligent person actually believe that having control of a trillion dollars does not absolutely corrupt any and every person in the controlling group?

I heard Arlen Specter defending his support of this bill, and he sounded like a brainless automoton. It was clear that his decision was not based on any rational argument.

Here is the reason the politicians are doing what they are doing (including the repubs which did nearly the exact same thing a few months ago):

They want the money, stupid!

Lengthy repetitions

does not = "real smart"

BTW...

Those who think that the "wingnut conservatives" are attempting to discredit FDR's programs should obtain a copy of History's "The Presidents". I was watching the other night, when FDR was the topic. History stated (I paraphrase) "FDR's programs did not end the depression. WWII ended the depression". I was quite surprised by this admission, having been taught (public school, what can I say) that FDR's public works programs ended the depression.

Get ready for strike three (FDR, GWB, BHO). It did not work for FDR or GWB, and it won't "work" for BHO (unless you define "work" as political pals stealing lots of money. I wonder who will pay for it this time?

That's it

Find a place that is facing hard times and play on people's emotions and fears, and offer them money. Tough crowd? Not hardly... It's like shooting fish in a barrel. You can't fail. To call this a momentous success is an ugly joke.

Obama the savior? How about Obama the opportunist.

@ USERNAME

See History's "The Presidents". You will discover that FDR did not end the depression with his policies. Spending brought on by WWII ended the depression.

The producers of "The Presidents" are quite candid about this, and I did not see any great media backlash against their disclosure of this fact. So, fuss about it all you want, but FDR was no economic savior, just like Obama.

He's betraying this country!

He's playing on our fears. He's taking America on an ill-conceived financial adventure dangerous to our citizens, an adventure preordained and planned before the election ever took place!

Guess who?

@Sartrewasright

Don't you recognise the words of your prior savior, Al Gore?

Obama's plan will wreck the economy, just as FDR's did - Common sense dictates it.

"After scrutinizing Roosevelt's record for four years, Harold L. Cole and Lee E. Ohanian conclude in a new study that New Deal policies signed into law 71 years ago thwarted economic recovery for seven long years."

"Why the Great Depression lasted so long has always been a great mystery, and because we never really knew the reason, we have always worried whether we would have another 10- to 15-year economic slump," said Ohanian, vice chair of UCLA's Department of Economics. "We found that a relapse isn't likely unless lawmakers gum up a recovery with ill-conceived stimulus policies."

Now let's see... Who wrote this drivel, these lies, this nonsense? The Center For Advanced Conservative Studies (i.e. R. Limbaugh)?

No, UCLA, UCLA, U.C.L.A. Yes, UCLA, that bastion of right wing, extremist conservatism. Guess when they wrote it? 2004.

Party on Obama.

Drove my Chevy to the levy, but the levy was dry. Obama's boys were drinkin whiskey and rye, singin' This'll be the day that I die, this'll be the day that I die.

@ teresa

"That is supposition Poco, because there is no way to adequately assess something that didn't happen. Since action was taken during the new deal, one cannot assess what might have happened had no action been taken. Those are merely guesses. The most pertinent question here is who funded that research?"

Yeah well, tell it to UCLA. The article was published under the auspices of UCLA, by the vice chair of UCLA's Department of Economics and that answers the pertinent question.

Of course it is impossible for you to believe it, because you have drunk the Koolaid. No amount of proof, logic, or common sense will convince you that your socialist heroes are wrong. You're, in a sense, brain damaged.

Keep ranting teresa

Your last one made almost no sense (are you sure you are a professor? - I guess that should not surprise me). I am an engineer. Yep, one of those male dominated, logic driven professions that requires a real degree. What exactly do you "profess", gender studies or failed political methodologies?

Have another cup of Obama-aid. It will make eeeveeerythiiing beeeetteeeer.
