Judiciously applied, shame is a sociologically useful tool, and it is time to bring it back into vogue. Shameful is exactly the word that describes what they have done, and they should be both confronted with it, and be required to pay for their actions. Stop justifying selfishness and stupidity. There is no justifiable reason, economic, class or otherwise to take out your frustrations (or whatever may have compelled them) on an infant, but that is exactly what these girls have done.

They are shameful and cruel, and deserve to be punished for their actions. The right thing to do would be to immediately place the babies into adoptive homes, and threaten the girls AND boys with sterilization if they even think about doing it again.
